SHIP'S CRANE TROUBLESHOOTING
We have this monorail crane which we use in picking up stores, provisions and spares being delivered onboard and as well as landing equipment and garbages from the vessel.
During our port stay in Singapore, we had this trouble in our monorail crane in which we do not have hoisting operation. No up and down operation.
here is the troubleshooting I did in fixing this monorail crane.

For anybody who doesn't really understand what's going on here all of these relays is like a logical setup so that you can't push up and down at the same time you can't be moving left and up at the same time it allows you to move one direction at a time and it's checking that based on position of other relays

Yup, at least your limit switch had actual problem. In the shipyard I work at, they have a problem at times with the two block switches, and more often, the crane operator from the night before will run the hooks up into the limits and shut the crane down.
Then the morning operator will put in a trouble call, saying the hoist will not work, without ever lowering them first to see if they are in the limits…….🙄

In this crane have mechanical hook lock also, if you want to use STBD side hook than PORT side hook should be lock... Otherwise you can not use the hook in STBD side.. 🤣🤣

Suppose load being hoisted on er crane. And suddenly power fails and crane is not working and load is hoisted up. What to do?

You have to fix it within that situation. If in case you cannot fix it the worst is to use multiple chain block to reduce the load and gradually release the crane brake
