Here's a tip: make a large batch of crested gecko food and sort it into individual cups and freeze them. You can even put dabs of food on parchment paper, then freeze it and bag the individual servings. It thaws in 20 min and keeps for several months. Saves me so much time.
this is such a good idea
Has this worked? Pangea does not recommend freezing it , however you can prepare enough for a week put it in a sauce bottle and put it in the fridge its much easier than preparing it daily
@@MathGameOne1 I've done it for years with no ill effects. I only freeze a months worth at a time so perhaps that's why? I can't see why you couldn't freeze it once mixed. You can freeze nearly any human food with no ill effects.
@@MathGameOne1 I've done the squeeze bottle in the fridge as well but it can waste a bit inside and can be a pain to clean but to each their own.
If you are a breeder or have lots of them ok but otherwise whats 5 min work 3 times a week 🤷♂️
A gecko that is fairly smol, lives at room temp, doesn’t need uvb, eats powder food and is handlable? I’LL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK-
I would give them uvb anyways. Just the uvb. Even if they don't need it. I provide mine with it so they get a day/night cycle
Wait they seriously can survive without UGB?
Can have them as almost vegetarian no live food ect
I think techically you should have uvb but i keep mine near the window so she gets over an hour a day of real light then mats too
@@MetallicCL0WNyes but you have to add a special supplement to give them proper vitamins

I was literally just thinking about getting a cresty and this popped up in my notifications lol it’s a sign
This is your sign : Get a Crested Gecko 🦎.. 😂
Get one they are the bessttttt
I just got one that hatched in the beginning of December... its deff worth it especially if you do your research
Haha exactly the same happened to me, strange

Only because it’s Adam! 🤣I don’t even own a reptile but my watches him & Snake Discovery religiously!
thanks! hope it was at least fun to watch
@@crystalwarren2756 YES I 100% RELATE TO THIS
i have a question for you about them
@@xavier_-_rackliff-_-3409 what’s your question?
My husband passed away and as a way to remember him I tried to keep his fish tank going but it's just not bringing me joy so I'm planning on turning it into a f bioactive female crestie colony(100 gallon tank) because I know he would have loved it.
Update?
“Don’t make a fool outta me... don’t do it”
Gecko: “if I still had my tail I’d drop it right now”
hahaha
It’s still insane to me how these geckos were thought extinct until 1994 and now you can’t go to a reptile store/expo without seeing tons of them.
Insane eh!
No one:
Me: engrossed in the reptile fandom, knowing more than the average keeper, calculating budgets for animals while not owning a single one
Same!
@never gonna give you up never gonna let u down Josh's frogs, obviously this channel, go herping has some care guides, and spruce house. There's lots of info on the sub reddit too
I did that too, but I did all the research and I got one !!!

Same, I really want to have around 4 reptiles well, because I love reptiles, they help me relax and make me happy, I have undiagnosed tics and the only thing that helps stop them is reptiles
Cresties absolutely do drink standing water! It's a really old myth that they don't.
Mine actually prefers his water bowl over drinking mist off of the walls, and I see him drinking him dish every single day.
This is the kind of person I prefer to teach me about my animals lol. Love how you get straight to the point, no bs. Thanks man!
thank you!
Adam: tells us not to watch the old care guide

you are too kind!
My crestie actually drinks out of a water bowl all the time, and I’ve had a few friends say that theirs do too :) Great video!
Same here! My crested gecko loves drinking out of his water dish on top of the water he gets when I mist water into his enclosure.
My crestie drinks out of his water dish as well. I am thinking of adding a waterfall to his tank though so he can have the moving water and to help with humidity levels, but haven't quite decided seeing he drinks from his water dish just fine.
I’ve watched this video at least 5x as I’m preparing for a Crested Gecko. Cage is setup w/ a custom background. Substrate and plants are on the way. Will probably let it cycle and grow out for 6 months or more before I get my new tenant
I hope you love your new pet!
How'd it go?
My crestie is the only crested gecko who I’ve seen that prefers to drink out of a water bowl. It is the cutest thing ever watching him drink out of his little bowl 😭
Mine also prefers to drink from his water dish vs the water droplets from misting. I have been thinking of getting a small waterfall in his cage so that he has moving water, plus it will help keep the humidity levels, but with how well he drinks from his water dish I don't know if it's worth getting.
Yoshi is an awesome name! And tbh any gecko is cute when it locks it’s eyes lol
she sure is a cutie

Actually most new caledonian geckos can easily go down into the 60's for temp and some breeders have found a winter cool period helps in healthy growth and breeding!
Thanks for this info! I’ve been pretty worried since our room temperature can get to the high 60s in winter.
Edit: I don’t have a lizard yet I’m just doing some research for the future when I get one.
Our house stays in the low 60's in the winter. I have 2 heart mats and an infra-red low wattage heat lamp
People always said they were so cute and great but I always thought they were kinda basic...then I met one and it was so adorable lol! If I get another lizard a crestie is definitely a good option. I really like the idea of making a big tropical bioactive enclosure for it.
They are!
"from beginning to end" on a pet video is such a dark sounding phrase.
hahaha yeaaa never thought of that
I'm actually planning on changing my crested's enclosure to bioactive. This is very helpful info
very cool!
Great care guide, awesome pet reptile.
Our crestie, Kuzko came to us with a spinal injury, he couldn't move his hind end. We got him from the reptile shop despite this fact. Fast-forward 18 months and he climbs all over his 18×18×24 enclosure now that he has some use of his rear legs. He had to be hand fed and he still sucks up to be fed...lol. He is an awesome pet reptile. One of our favorites!
Definitely taking notes for my crestie
When my sister got her first crested geckos, I wasn’t sure if gecko repashy was the best food and I thought it was only a daily vitamin food but now I learned it can be a stable food source, thanks for the advice.
Oh wow!
Hi um crestie breeder here:
They absolutely do drink standing water
And I wouldn’t recommend housing them together unless breeding as they can be territorial.
I'm Italian, I've got a crested gecko, an uromastyx nigriventris, a ball python, a nasicus and a blue tongue skink, I've discovered you during Christmas holidays and I really love your channel, you're freaking awesome and you have a great collection, you also do a great job on yt... gg bro
NOW THIS! THIS was helpful... I'm actually getting a crested geckos on my birthday (I'll first get the terrarium on my birthday and THEN the gecko). Of course I did my own research but this helped me a lot!
My daughter got a Leo for her bday which inspired me to get a crestie for my B-Day. We did extensive research on both before getting them. I chose a crestie because it's care fit my lifestyle and routines. I did not want to deal with a mass amount of insects and with cresties they eat insects only twice a week, the other days they eat Rapashy or Pangea powder food. I love my crestie so much! He still has his tail which I'm shocked about because we've been having loud thunderstorms all summer, plus the 4th of July fireworks and the 24th of July fireworks (I live in Utah and we celebrate the 24th with fireworks because it's the days the pioneers founded Utah). I have nightmares that my crestie dropped its tail because I'm so paranoid about it. I hope he keeps his tail, but I do realize that he could drop it at any point in his life. Fun fact: Cresties with dropped tails are called Frog Butt 🐸🍑😂
my rescue crestie still has his tail too! he’ll be five in november. i’m shocked at it too because he lived on the floor at his old home and they had lots of cats and small dogs, plus there wasn’t a lot of hiding spots. so shocked his tail is still there!
From my experience as a crestie owner. I wish to add that cresties do drink from bowls. Mine does, but prefers to drink from misted leaves. My crestie is also very hardy when it comes to temps. This info is for people who plan to get one.
Of course, each crestie is different.
hope you enjoyed
I have fallen in love with these little guys over the last couple of months and am getting an exo terra 60x40x90 cm (24x18x36 inches) terrarium soon. I'm planning to set it up as a bioactive home for a crestie over the next 6 months and get the little guy/girl when it's completely established. Can't wait to get started! Your videos are a great help.
So great to hear
I appreciate the guide Adam! I foresee myself checking this out more than once.

Awww I love their stupid little frog butts.
so cute eh
Hi Adam! Fellow Crestie owner. I recently rehomed a Crestie and his setup came with a UVB bulb. I've noticed his skin is lighter during the day and "flares up" after I turn the light off. It definitely makes a difference in my case. Hope this helps and love the content!!
I've noticed that my crestie does the same thing. He's light during the day when his uvb bulb is on, but at night when the light go off he flares up and turns super dark. Sometimes he's a light yellow green, almost an orangey red, or a dark greenish brown. I swear if you didn't know you would think he's a different crestie everytime.
I just had to comment that I love this channel. You are amazing.
I just found you last night and I can’t stop watching, I’ve been wanting a little buddy to hang out with, you’re super helpful thank you so much!!!!
Awesome! Thank you! I appreciate the support!
I have kept crested gecko for 5 years but I still like to watch care guides. Never know when you'll learn something new!
They do have eyelids but they are clear and fused shut 😊
I got my first Crestie in September when a reptile expo managed to be on in between lockdowns. Now working on a bio active terrarium (16x16x24) with custom background.
Lol your jokes make your videos extra entertaining. Love it
Glad you like them!
LOVE these amazing, derpy, adorable geckos and proud owner of 2. These are fairly simple and enclosure setup is a breeze. In the process of setting up a 40 gallon to house a couple females. My living room is normally 75° during the day and about 60° to 55° at night. Sliding screen door makes for plenty of air circulation along with morning and evening misting for humidity.
they really are super simpls
Just now seeing this; hope it’s not to late and I hope ur crested Havnt suffered from malnourishment from not eating due to the low temps at night. 75 is average during the day; ab 70-72 is ele here u want to be; but I believe 55/60 is wayyy to low during the night in New Caledonian the nights r real short; the sun comes up ab 5-6am; so it typically doesn’t get lower then 60
I just got three cresties today, thanks for the video!
anytime!
@WickensWickedReptiles so, the lady at petco who sold us the cresties said they can be together in same tank. But everything I have read says they can not be housed together. What's your opinion?
Thank you for this lmao ive been hoping to get a crestie sometime this year so im doing lots of research!! Yours and a few other youtuber’s videos have been super helpful!
Also why does everybody say that crested geckos are usually found at like $20-40 but every one ive found are like $60-80😭😭
Glad I could help!
Getting one is growing on me... :)
I'll wait to see your video about the custom background enclosure before doing any move.
Hi from Canada by the way!
I have a corn snake and my friends brother has a crestie called Smaug. And when they go on holiday in a few weeks so I get to look after it! I’m so excited but I do need to brush up on some research.
Sounds great!
My next local reptile expo is in April. In March I am going to set up a bioactive enclosure for one Crested Gecko so when the expo happens the next month I have a nice established enclosure for the new gecko.

i told my crestie his outfit didn’t match and he dropped his tail, they’re so sensitive 🙄😂
Ive always wanted one since I was 15, im 20 now, Can live at room temp, isnt noisy like a dog, I dont need live bugs, no UVB, can occasionaly handle and they’re easy to find.

Yes thank you. I've done so much research before getting mine 3 weeks ago and was wondering where you're care guide was for them! 🤗
I did a bunch of research already (just rescued a crested last night) but boy do I love your videos and still learn a lot.
I'm in the process of getting my first crestie! I'm so excited, and your videos havd been so helpful!
I was wondering what subsrate you put juveniles on? I've heard so many different things.
You can keep them on a loose substrate that retains humidity, such as coconut fibre or soil. As long as you feed them away from the substrate ingesting the substrate shouldn’t be an issue.
i’m 15, i’ve had two cresties for 2 years. both males. i still watch care guides. :)
I did see my crested gecko drink from her water dish once so I still keep mine in. Water collects in little pools in some areas of plants which crested gecko occasionally drink from in the wild
I recently just got a crested gecko last night, and we're so happy to finally have a new friend in the house. My cat goes crazy with her sent
Make sure the cat can’t get to the gecko.
@@nightinggale6470 we leave her in the basement with lots of light and heat, and the cat isn't much of a fan for the basement, so that's step one.

5 months later his tail is still hanging on
Just got my first one today and this video has been helpful a lot of the stuff the lady told me at the store but I’m trying to plant it all in my brain to make sure he or she is always doing great.
I've been wanting a crestie for a year now and finally have an empty enclosure! My biggest fear is that it'll jump off my hand and my cats will have better reflexes than I do. :/
get your cats out of your gecko room
i have a crestie and in my experience if you pay attention you can notice when theyre about to jump because theyll lock their eyes onto their target for a bit before jumping so if you notice it about to jump away from you (or towards a cat) youll be able to stop it before it happens :)
True, they kinda give you a heads up by staring at where they want to jump and flexing their legs. You can easily stop them by putting your palm right in front of their face.
I love cresties! I think I’m gonna pick up my boy tomorrow and i can’t wait. Just wanted to watch the video to make sure that my tank (that looks better than yours😂) is completely ready. Right now I’m just trying to keep the tampurature and humidity perfect but it hasn’t gone over 80 Fahrenheit. Also, i personally think that it is best to have a water bowl for them (i have 2 in my tank) but it probably would be fine without it (it was only like $10 more. So no big deal). I also honestly like the tailless geckos, I’m not saying I’m gonna rip his tail off, but i am saying that I’m looking forward to the next thunderstorm lol!
