Thank you for this video…What are healthy levels mine came back 340 mU/L and the progesterone only 8 about 10 days post ovulation. I’ve sent the result to my fertility Doctor. Glad the information out there has me more informed but confused about what types of tests should be considered.
I been taking high doses of antipsychotics for about 10 years in depot injection form due to mental health history and i have now serious problems with my health which i am convinced it has been caused by the use of antipsychotics over the years. I have gained 30kg in total of weight when before I ever had any medication I had no problems with weight and in my bloods my cholesterol levels was high and also my prolactin was very high over 500 and I struggling to concieve with my partner. I am very sad about this and feel like the medication I was forced to take as literally ruined my life and the worse thing is Doctors seem to shrug this off and insist I should still take the medication. Within mind I have had no psychotic issues in several years. It make me feel so sad and like they don't care how it affecting me. I took a few different antipsychotics over 10 years such as Olanzipine, Depixol, Risperidone and Aripiprazole and Anti depressants Fluoxetine and Sertriline and even though I was told Ablify has the least side effects it still hasn't made any difference. My prolactin levels still high and my weight still problem. I no longer want the medication and I just wish mental health services would literally leave me alone. My self esteem is practically non existant and I feel betrayed by the system as I felt like they should help me but I feel they made my life worse for me.

Glad I found your video! My prolactin was at 35 last June and just did blood work again and found it was at 11 this year. My previous OBGYN had scheduled an MRI to see if the prolactinoma was present but due to money issues I never went through with it. Now this doctor said the level is normal so she is holding off on the imaging unless TTC continues to be a problem. I'm just curious as to what can cause the drastic drop? I haven't done anything to drastic in lifestyle changes 🤔

Is it normal for IUIs not be cancelled even though your prolactin levels are high? They said mine was "mildly elevated" I was placed on bromocriptine (I didn't get another test as you spoke about) and the meds weren't working to reduce my levels... nevertheless they proceeded with the IUIs because they said it shouldn't affect it because it was only mildly elevated. I had 3 failed IUIs. I should mention that the original reason for the iuis was my husband's motility but his numbers were really good for all 3 iuis. It makes me wonder if the iuis failed because of my prolactin levels.

Ovulation is unlikely to occur until after prolactin levels are down into the normal range which in most labs is less than 25. Some prolactinomas may require surgery to remove if medication fails

We went to a fertility specialist who initially detected high prolactin, but after further testing said I have MACROPROLACTINEMIA which does not affect my fertility. I am essentially normal but still not pregnant. What can we try next? Should we try IUI or IVF or keep trying naturally ? They say that ivf or iui won’t work if your prolactin levels are high. You have to lower them first. I’m currently on progesterone after taking Cabergoline which also helped

There is no health benefit from bleeding every month. However, absence of a period is an indicator that ovulation is not happening. Without ovulation, women are at greater risk for developing uterine cancer, especially if they are overweight or obese. Doctors may recommend steps to reduce the risk for developing cancer such as taking progesterone. Elevated prolactin levels may also be an indication for other problems such as a pituitary adenoma that should be investigated
Not sure why doctors/IVF specialist are unable to diagnose and cure the exact issue. I had intermittent hyperprolactemia issues with a regular 28 menstrual cycle, normal MRI, no ovarian cysts and all PCOS hormone levels are fine

Many doctors look at prolactin levels at the wrong time of the cycle. If the blood is drazwn after ovulation, prolactin levels will be higher but that does not necessarily mean treatment is needed. Watch the video for all the information about when to draw prolactin and pay attention to the part about testing monomeric prolactin to see who really needs treatment

Sometimes this problem can be due to high prolactin levels. See your doctor for testing

La cosa si è risolta in in aborto spontaneo strettamente controllato con prelievi di bhcg senza l'uso di metotrexate ne intervento... Vorrei sapere se la causa di questo impianto extrauterino può essere stato l'allattamento... Ringrazio molto in caso di risposta

Hi Dr, I am 32, my husband and I have been trying to have a baby, including timing our sex with ovulation strips for about 13 months and no luck. We went to a fertility specialist who initially detected high prolactin, but after further testing said I have MACROPROLACTINEMIA which does not affect my fertility. I am essentially normal but still not pregnant. What can we try next? Should we try IUI or IVF or keep trying naturally ? I know it's a probability game and no one can answer for certain but still would help tremendously to have guidance

They say that ivf or iui won’t work if your prolactin levels are high. You have to lower them first. I’m currently on progesterone after taking Cabergoline which also helped

Yes there are drugs like dostinex that reduce prolactin levels but you should consult your doc firstly

I was wondering if you could juste give me an advice , actually i have started trying to get pregnant two months ago I'm newly married ; I'm 27 years old , i did my prolactine test and it was 37,75ng/ml ( the lab normal level is from 5 to 35 ). my FSH is 4,25 mUI/ml, progesterone is 9.78ng/mL in my luteal phase. Also my all other indicators are very good . I have regular period and good ovulation.

Many doctors look at prolactin levels at the wrong time of the cycle. If the blood is drazwn after ovulation, prolactin levels will be higher but that does not necessarily mean treatment is needed.
