We thought it was one thing and discovered something completely different .... wouldn't have guessed 😱!
I would guess fishing line.

that sucks. Sorry Matt. I appreciate you posting the video you could have not even show us. I have been there. Had a volvo pente gas inboard break a belt. Installed a new belt and the motor was still running hot with an alarm. Completely flushed the raw water system, changed the raw water pump, had the heat exchanger and oil exchanger cleaned. only to find out that the belt was the incorrect belt. It was too tight. Just got to love to love it
Your right Tim … we could of hid the mistake but we are real people & sometimes we may slip up! Yup it sucks but we’ll just make it right. Trust but always verify! Sounds like you’ve had your own boat struggles too… LOL
I always say half the fun is getting there so I never complain about how slow I have to go sometimes. I always enjoy the ride and take the time to enjoy it.
You’re right about the fun and destination… Matt and I need to learn this lesson. We are always in a hurry because this is a customer paying! When we get our project boat done then we can hopefully enjoy the ride.

Great video, never have even seen the wire puller thing, pretty nice! Would had like to had seen the guys shoes that was walking on dock you liked and wanted, I’m a shoe fanatic, I’m on the hunt for a great boat shoes, comfy, for big guys standing for long periods w great thick heel!
Thanks for watch as always! Those shoes were Cole Hans they were a nice brown leather not for everyday wear. Can’t really recommend a good boat shoe ….. Matt wears Nike’s for running around the docks!
i chose to repower with suzukis last year due to the yamaha parts shortage. i liked the motors but its always some bs like that when it comes to parts. very frustrating. thanks for sharing
Suzuki are good motors too! The part shortages have been a real issue for us these past years. It’s exhausting chasing parts.

13:00...I was told by my Merc mentor that the LU should be level when filling and leave enough air space to prevent the shaft seals from leaking under pressure at higher RPM. Is that just Merc thing?
Ask your Merc Mentor to make sure you understand all the context of what he was sharing with you 👍

Well, for our 200xs he said it was fluid expansion, to prevent seal failure from heat expansion.

Getting parts for Yamaha is a nightmare. That’s why I have shifted to mercury.

Man you got the wrong prop on that thing or you got somethin wired wrong. AINT NO WAY you got the wrong unit. I’ve never heard of something like that. Mayb bcuz I work w inboards and I/o mainly.
Yeah it was the wrong unit …. Unfortunately we just installed the new one!
suck on the wrong part . I guess the motors turn the same direction. so one of those lower units have a reversed gear box . if so it's more money . and has less power . in less the pinion is on the opposite side of the ring gear . just answered my own question
We had to get a new lower unit… they don’t reverse 😬

I would compare Owning a boat today to be like pouring 50 gallons of gasoline on one third of your savings account and setting it on fire. And the cherry on top is that you purchased the gasoline at the boat dock…… 😁
