I always listen to the album King's College Choir: O Come, All Ye Faithful from 1984, I think they are the best recordings with carols from the Kings College Choir
Its on spotify, but my parents had that CD.
Really nice to see en hear the choir in 1983, the were sounding so good in that time!

This is "my choir"...I went to King's in 1983...seeing you all again...so many I knew so well...gosh guys thanks Jeremy Davies, choral scholar, for finding and sharing this GEM. It has actually given me serious goosebumps and made me cry!!! WONDERFUL. I believe (and have read) that these years of 83 to 86 are considered a "peak

I wish I had gotten to meet him. I play the organ (I'm an amateur, but I love it) & I would have loved to play my favorite hymn tunes for Sir Stephen. Especially FOREST GREEN, my all-time favorite. RIP Sir Stephen.

Unearthly, beautiful. At least 3 of my favourite carols in this preview, Sussex carol, In the Bleak Midwinter and 7 Joys Of Mary. I was born just weeks before this was broadcast.

Another gem from the Archive. Thank you!
I love Cleobury's description of Joys Seven being 'susceptible' to a new arrangement

Their articulation, sustained phrases, balance, blend, eye contact and focus are suitable. Find men to reach a low Eb for the chord progression. It is top heavy.

A valid point, but I think in over 50 years, I've only come across two 18 year olds with a substantial low E flat...

My favorite choir! Too bad flying is torture on my ears, and too bad I never got to meet Sir Stephen Cleobury. One of the local parish choirs went to England last year but I didn't go because as I said, my ears and airplane travel don't mix. Otherwise I would have gone with them.

@TheSauce Group You are being teased. David is a very fine organist and choir master. Google will give you plenty of info. I got to know him when he was assistant at Hereford. A formidable talent.
