How many cups of coffee were brought to the workshop in this video??
I counted at least three. But I could be wrong. It's nice your spouse brings you coffee; mine says, “it's in the pot. Knock yourself out, buddy.”
I have to let you know one of your videos got me out of a jam setting up my guitar. I did a fret job, and afterward, I kept getting a buzz. I left it for a bit and went back to some of your videos, and you had mentioned, “make sure your neck is perfectly straight.” guess why I had a buzz, my dumb ass didn't straighten my neck perfectly prior. Needless to say, this weekend, I made sure it was perfectly straight, and the buzz is gone. I told my wife, and she said, “you need to listen to the nice Dutchman before doing anything. Yes, dear.” Have a good week Daniel, be well and be safe. Oh, I am also learning CAD for the sole purpose of making templates; wish me luck!
I think an investment in a coffee maker for the shop, might be a good idea. 😉
@@jjdillon2007 Maybe.. but that might result in one of two things.
I might not get anything done because I'm drinking coffee all the time. Or...
I most likely forget to drink anything all day.
Also my wife is scared that if I have a coffee maker and a fridge in the workshop she won't see me ever again.

You've got it!! If you pay close enough attention you can indeed see my wife bring me coffee three times in this video.
I consider myself very lucky she is bringing me freshly ground coffee without me asking. She takes good care of me.
Nice to hear one of my videos helped you out of a pickle. (is that the correct phrase??)
And you should always listen to your wife... maybe one day she starts bringing you coffee as well in return.
Good luck on learning CAD. I have a video Idea I'm working on about guitar design in CAD. Hopefully I can get around writing and recording it soon.
Have a nice week Joe!
@@UnquendorGuitars She actually brought me a cup today. She felt terrible because I was having a lousy workday; I'm a Digital Forensics and Malware analyst, and nothing was working. And yes, a “pickle” is the exact term. And I am grateful I saw that video because my pet peeve is fret buzz.
I'm learning CAD as a kind of a hobby. I've stumbled on an opportunity as a Veteran that is offering me free coursework. There's a vast guitar community here in Pennsylvania, and everyone says templates are challenging and, at times, expensive. If I can help them out, that's payment enough.
Most are inspiring builders and want to design the perfect template, mostly for fretboards, multiscale, etc. I'm excited just to learn something new.
most excellent content Unquendor Guitars. I broke that thumbs up on your video. Keep on up the fantastic work.
Hey Keyser,
Thank you very much for the compliment and your support!
Great tutorial!!! I’m going to start building my own guitars hopefully by summer. I already learned a lot from you...
The wife bringing you coffee cracks me up lol.
Hi The ides of march,
Thank you very much.
Nice to hear you are getting some useful information from my videos.
very very cool. You are 100% master
Hey Tuxuu OKEAH,
Thank you very much!
we get to see Mrs Unquendor.....
Hi Steveh9169,
Yes you did...
Awesome stuff!
Hey Mr Waffles,
Thank you!
Nice work Dan always a pleasure to watch. JJ
Hi JJ,
Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked the video!
I'm so glad to see you using volutes on your necks, Dany. I thought it was the best idea for Gibson, coming from the Norlin era. I have one on my '76 ES-175.
Hi JJ,
Personally I think volutes should be mandatory. They not only add a lot more structural strength but also add some extra mass where the strings transfer vibrations into the neck which hopefully contributes to the sustain and harmonics/ 'Tone' of the guitar. And they just look nice.
@@UnquendorGuitars Yes, especially on guitars with a 17 degree headstock angle.
another nice vide, thank you Daniel
Hey Denis,
Thank you very much!
Very nice work Daniel, thanks for sharing:-)
Hi Maik,
Thank you very much!
Out of stock has been a problem since covid. I buy from Allparts ,Wd music, and Thomson guitar and thrift.
Hi Edad,
I didn't have much problems getting parts before, but this time it was more like a scavenger hunt.
Hi Daniel. It was interesting to see how you adapt to mishaps.
The supply issue isn’t just related to guitar parts. I’ve been costing my workshop machinery and tools and many items were only available on preorder.
I saw in one of your comments that you are considering a CAD related vid. This would be really useful to me as I have been trying to teach myself Freecad while I recover from the virus.
Cool vid…as usual!
Hi Martin,
Thank you for your comment.
I also noticed the scarcity in tools and machinery when I needed to order just a couple of very simple items last week. Hopefully this changes soon. The shipping costs when having to order from several different suppliers are no joke. That is if you can find the item you need in the first place.
And Yes I'm considering a Guitar Design video using (Auto)CAD, but I'm still thinking on how to go about it to keep it as general as possible without going into too much software specific details. So it might take me a couple of weeks to plan and record.
Nice work Daniel! Keep it going!
Hi Rasco,
Thank you very much! I'll do my best.
thank you for the helpful video
Hi Сергей Кириков,
Thank you very much!
I did the same thing on my current build, sanding the headstock too thin. I think I just got away with it though! Great to see your wife bringing you coffee, how did you manage that!! lol
Hi John,
If the headstock is still over 13,5mm for most tuners I think. For me the veneer did the trick and the tuners fit perfect and I still have good string tension over the nut.
Maybe she's glad I'm in the shed this often or it could be I'm very nice and caring to her when I'm not working. And I'm also very fortunate to have her. This wouldn't be possible without her to be honest.
I share your pain. Imagine how I felt when I was putting my tele together and realized I cut the neck pocket to deep. Guitar building is all about fixing mistakes.
Hey Leon,
I know that feeling all too well. Although I usually know how to fix a mistake I must confess I'm always bummed for a couple of hours.
I found the best way to deal with mistakes is to take a, cliché, deep breath and come up with a solution straight away.
I do hope you got your neck to fit correctly. Glueing in a veneer at the bottom of the neck pocket usually fixes the fit.
I love tulip inlays Dany!! ( in Argentina say Dany😉🇦🇷🇦🇷)
Hey Julian,
Thank you!
Helaas gebeuren zulke dingen...
Cool as always Daniel. What do you think about the strips of the neck being made at an angle, narrower at the part where the tuners are? Does it have any advantage or is it just a more difficult design to make? Thanks.
Hi Adrien,
If you're talking about the strips in the laminate of the neck....
I don't see any advantages or disadvantages in tapering the strips in the laminate. It sure is a nice design feature if done right.
If you make it so that the laminated stripes run parallel to the side of the neck by tapering the strips that would look awesome I think.
It shouldn't be that much harder to do once you figure out the correct angle/taper for the strips. When you have the strips cut and planed the glueing of the neck blank is the same. And after carefully positioning the neck template everything else is like with a 'normal' neck blank.
Enjoy your builds alot😄. Almost think the music is to loud though.
Hi Edad,
Thank you for your comment.
The music seems to get emphasized or something.
I've edited, rendered and uploaded the video twice because of it. In my editing software and the render before upload the music is actually a little too low to my taste, but here on YT it seems louder.
What is the song at around 19 mins in this video? It’s very good!
Perfect mistake Daniel😜
Hi Johnny,
At the time I felt a bit different about the mistake to be honest but the fix will at least look great.
