In this video I visit my favorite place in Slovakia (so far), The Liptovska Mara dam. This dam is very special to me as it was the first place other than our house that I visited when I first visited Slovakia about 13 or so years ago and it has remained very close to my heart. I also go over the 5 best things about living in Slovakia as a foreigner (in my opinion). This is my first video so I apologize about my awkwardness.
Oh and the soup I was talking about is called držkovú polievku

Reason why is is water low, could be - preparing for autumn rains/spring snow melting. While Liptovská Mara is a power plant, they need to run turbines time to time (Hydropower is used for balancing grid mostly)
And - in slovak scale, that is a sea :D

Im glad that people who are visiting or staying in our country also visit different places then main cities, there is a lot to see, but still most foreigners that are staying or moving here just go to Bratislava which is fine i guess if you want job and get into things quickly but i think it's good to see other places around middle or east of Slovakia where are a lot of beautiful places worth visiting.

It must have taken lots of courage to move to a quite different country than the UK and South Africa is so it’s quite amazing to see all your experiences. I am a Slovak living and studying Scotland and loving Scotland so much for all the opportunities it offered me but I miss Slovakia at the same time so much exactly for these things, for the nature, people, food and just the way of life. Love your videos and all the best in everything you do and wishing you many happy years in SVK! 🇸🇰💪

Hey mate. Thanks for the nice video and good luck. I know that place. I come from the town just across the dam - Liptovsky Mikulas and I used to fly sailplanes out of Liskova - the RK Aeroklub. I am happy, that you like it there and that you found good people around you. As for the food, give a chance to the Bryndzove halusky. Don't be discouraged by the looks - the food looks like eaten twice already. But it's just small potato dumplings (potatos and flour), sheep cheese and baked pork bits.
