Hell yeah! They didn’t water it down or destroy the important culture of it. They did a great job grasping it and created awesome pieces of art.
Music is the language of the soul. There's nothing else like it.

don't speak Japanese but how original the Japnaese instrumentals sound. I listen to Polish and American rap from the 90's and now Japanese. They all tend to have really good beats, all different from each other unlike in modern rap where it sounds the same. Don't understand the words but it still is something i'll probably explore some more
Japanese hiphop from the 90s is the coolest thing ever. Japanese is not as easy to rhyme as English, and we don't have a rhyming culture. Furthermore, people doing HipHop in Japan had the image that it was just an imitation of America, and a lame one at that. They thought it was a clone of America and that the real thing was cooler. This was a generation that did not pay attention to such criticism and stuck to what they thought was cool. Because of them, HIPHOP took root in Japan. Especially in the 90's, there were many questions about how to reproduce overseas RAP in Japanese. It was a time when people were trying to figure out what kind of HipHop would suit Japan. It's imperfect, and yet it has its own Japanese quirks, which is really great.
shing02 a blessing to our ears from japan
Not cooler than the americans ones ngl
Why is this version of lamp eye - shogun different to the original I’ve been trying to find this version but I can’t.
I’m interested in you could actually name those quirks characterizing 90’s Japanese rap. I hear something different but I’d be curious if it’s known what they are.
Why isn’t Japanese easy to rhyme?
I love how hip-hop can be so varied in production and flows across the board but still unambiguously hip-hop, sonically. Especially the sample based stuff. I'm definitely going to check out buddha brand.
Nowadays, same style everywhere whether be it american, japanese or any other countries. Rappers back then have individuality and distinctive style on their arsenal.
@@suiken3149 You just have to dig now. I get what you mean, but I think that's most commercial music in general. There's still great artists out there but you're unlikely to find them via word of mouth(depends on the mouth) or the radio.

Japanese is my 4th language and I am giving all the Japanese I understand to make sense of the lyrics as much as I can.....I love it so much, the flows and bars are at par with 90s American Rap, so mindblowing.
I love hip hop so much as it held a special place to me when I was learning English. It made me absorb English faster and learned to appreciate wordplays and figures of speech, sadly modern hip hop ain't created like this anymore. Plus, hip hop beats get me going with my day.
I'm envious. Learning Japanese is my top language. I just got to put in the time to learn it.

Japanese hip hop instrumentals&sampling is so unique and the flow of Japanese language so cool sounding. Shakkazombie is awesome, i remember finding out from either cowboy bebop or some other.
