- I’m back. I had a few weeks away from Eurovision which only made me miss it more. Revisit the opening of SF1 (Netta), a recap of all SF1 performances, and the shocking qualifiers and non-qualifiers with me.💚✌️
I really liked Poland too, from the start. I didn't thought it could win, but I thought that at least it will go to Grand Final.
I like Netta's performances and her courage to go on stage with those outhfits, in game me encoragement as plus size person, when I saw her without any complex performing like she wanted and being absolute queen. I respect her.
Niekas Nemo Absolutely. I still remember an interview she gave in 2017 before Eurovision in which she stated that she could not find clothes she liked in her size, so she just started designing them herself. What makes us different makes us beautiful.💚✌️

First of all, to anyone who bothered to read this thanks so much!! This is my opinion on semi final one and reasoning for my qualifiers (u will disagree).
1st- Australia. Incredible staging, best in competition. The song concludes far better than national finals, incredible vocals. My winner of semi final 1.
2- Cyprus. In my opinion this is better than fuego. The beat drop at the chorus is just amazing and the song is super catchy.
3- Czech Republic. They changed the key and rightly so. Super catchy, energetic, fun staging and it just made me smile.
4- Slovenia. Wow, this came out of nowhere. This performance was just so captivating and vulnerable. I loved and don't really know why. Just one of those entries that catches you off-guard I guess.
5. Iceland. Okay I'm taking politics out of this. Don't agree with what they did, I'll judge them on music alone. The song is certainly unforgettable, unique but hatari have such a presence on stage and made such a believable performance and gripping atmosphere. I loved it.
6- Estonia. Okay his vocals were very shaky but I just couldn't stop singing the chorus. It was too catchy and had too much potential not to be put through.
7-Hungary. I don't get why this didn't qualify. It was no more boring than his entry a few years ago. His vocals are incredible and I love the chorus. Robbed
8- Belgium. I know his performance isn't very inspiring or convincing but this song was just too good not to go to the final in my opinion.
9- Belarus. SHE'S 16. Wow. Vocals are shaky but I'll forgive her. She left everything on the stage. High notes, dance moves. I was happy for her.
10- San Marino. Serhats voice is awful but who cares. The best chorus in the competition, the backing vocalists did a great job in saving this.
NON QUALIFIERS
11- Greece. People are going to hate me for this. It's a good song but I really don't like her voice. She just sounds like she's singing through her voice and I think the end of the song is a car crash.
12- Serbia. I never got on board with this one. No one can deny her vocal is amazing but the song only starts on the second chorus by which time I was asleep. Sorry.
13-Poland. The wtf entry that nearly qualifies each year. I'm still on the fence about this one but the song is just too stationery and I struggle to get on board with four people singing the same note.
14- Georgia. They should be proud. The vocals and staging were amazing but the song is just not good enough.
15- Portugal. I don't want to get into the art debate. It's a song that has no pattern or anything to like really. I don't know how people loved this so much.
16- Finland. YAWN. The worst chorus in the contest and the staging is just irrelevant.
17- Montenegro. Absolute car crash. Only two of them can sing. The performance is so cringy.
AGAIN HUGE THANKS TO PEOPLE WHO READ THIS. I SHOULD SAY I MADE THIS LIST DIRECTLY AFTER THE FIRST SEMI TO AVOID INFLUENCE AFTER THE GRAND FINAL WHERE I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE CHANGED THE LIST. I THINK AS A RESULT IT IS THE FAIREST THING TO DO.
Stephen Moore I read your entire post. If anyone hates you for having an opinion, don’t give them the time of day. Trust me on that. I’m still stuck on Belgium. Wait, who won SF2? I thought Kate won. Back to Belgium. The song and its video were strong and stylistic, but what do you think the vision was for the Eurovision stage? Blanche didn’t move at all in 2017, but she connected with audiences in a huge way. What was the vision for Eliot? I’m asking so we can have a convo about it.💚✌️
@@JakesFaceReacts thanks so much for taking the time to read this. No, Kate was definitely in semi final 1! Semi final 2 was stacked but holy malo it wasn't that stacked! In regards to Eliot, I'm still really confused. I've seen the live performance several times. I was excited when I saw the two drummers, I thought they would provide power to the song but they were an unwelcome distraction. In regards to Eliot, I thought the red costume may have lighted up while the verses were in darkness and the people could wake up but that never happened. In the end I think they just settled for the occasional raised fist and drumsticks. It was the same last year for sennek, another missed opportunity. I will be making another review on semifinal 2 when you release the video.✌✌✌

I agree, Poland and Portugal was the most robbed out of all the non-qualifiers (although I can see why Portugal DNQ). Poland's NQ, however, was supposedly caused by one of the Czech juror voting backwards (Poland was high on the other jurors)... Would've honestly traded these two with Estonia & Belarus. Didn't mind San Marino's qualification though ;)

Good to see you back Jake! Hope all is mostly better now! Mostly OPO (on-point opinions) -- the only thing I'll say about Belarus vs. Poland -- the more I watched her and what her team were doing in rehearsals the more I KNEW she'd advance, no matter how the vocals ended up being, because in Eurovision Rule #1: ENERGY overrides almost ANYTHING ELSE -- much as I grew to appreciate Poland for staying culturally true, four girls swaying back and forth standing stagnant at mic stands just was never going to compete with a show with flipping and fire and ENERGY..

welcome back Jake! i would put through Portugal and Georgia insteed of Estonia and San Marino. if you ask me this semi final wasn't that great. before the semi final i only liked Cyprus, Greece, Serbia and Iceland. i didn't really care about all the others. i was pleasantly surprised with the Czeck Republic cause they were really good on stage. the second semi final was way better. you know from one hand i'm kinda sad cause all those green room interviews weren't shown in our tv. we saw commercials. you could argue that i could watch the contest live on youtube without commercials. but then i would miss our wonderfull commentators who give information about each artist before they go on stage. when they show those postcards. and i have to tell you our commentators are really funny. omg especially during the semifinal where we couldn't vote i'm telling you they had no filter. i love them.
I disagree, semi 2 was a snoozefest(only liked two songs from that one, AZ and NL) too many ballads and uninspired popsongs, it is just that some of the better songs(songs with passion and originality) from semi 1, poland, portugal, georgia even hungary got left behind here(killing off half my top ten, glad iceland, australia and slovenia got through though was ok with CZ too), i would have let those qualify instead of belarus, cyprus, san marino and estonia, this way the finale would have been much more interesting...

Portugal had an underappreciated art...shocking was that even public didn't put them through...I've lost hope in humanity..
Most people watching Eurovision see most songs for the first time on live tv, and most first reactions to Portugal were people being like 'Wtf is this'. You have to listen to it a few times before you're beginning to like it.
@@Daniel-wc4pp Yes. But San Marino and Belarus are bad from the very first listen. Estonia was terrible too... The 3 of them were much worse than Hungary, Poland or Portugal. Portugal took the risk... and failed, but you have to give Conan the credit.
@@101mosquitos I do give the credits, but I what I meant to say was that people generally do not vote for it based on first listen. San Marino was certainly not the best but Serhat made a show and had the charisma which helped him. As for Belarus and Estonia I agree, I would have swapped them with Hungary and Poland
....sadly it's true, despite knowing that as well as people look more and more forward into the songs before the contest to actually know is it even worth being excited..knowing also that there were too many "wtf" moments mixed into this semi-final..which surprisingly(at least for me was a surprise) was a lot weaker one aswell

First of all, it's great that you are back, Jake.
I watched the show live, but it was interesting to refresh memories while watching this video.
Just my thoughts about SF1:
Cyprus - cool. Was worrying for her vocals (she sounded awful during the 2nd rehearsal), but everything went good.
Montenegro - may be, next year?
Finland - nah.
Poland - interesting, but not strong enough compared to others.
Slovenia - love. Just love.
Czech Republic - cool and entertaining. Bright staging.
Hungary - the biggest robbery for me.
Belarus - I don't really like it.
Serbia - so emotional + vivid staging which underlined the message of the song.
Belgium - disappointing.
Georgia - amazing vocals and staging, but not strong enough compared to others.
Australia - exorbital in all senses. Brilliant.
Iceland - YAAS! They were my favorites of SF1 and ESC 2019 overall. They are so cool!
Estonia - nothing special.
Portugal - deserved to be in Grand Final.
Greece - one of the best vocalists.
San-Marino - how did he manage to qualify for GF? Just how?
ivan1991112 Thank you. It’s good to be back. I think the Serhat factor is multi-layered. First off, he has one hell of an upbeat positive dance track. He appeals to people of all ages and nationalities. The staging did just enough to both feature him in key moments and “hide” him when things weren’t so great. I love him though.✌️💚

So, here are my thoughts on Semifinal 1…
Netta’s reprise of “Toy” was just amazing!
While the hosts were enjoyable and each got an even amount of time on screen, as opposed to last year in Lisbon, I have to agree, the green-room interviews were very awkward and straight-forward, I guess. Like when Assi (the younger male host) mentioned Eleni coming in second place in Lisbon to Tamta “Last year, Cyprus ALMOST won…” or when he interviewed Sergey Lazarev during the final with “You ALMOST won in 2016…BUT you didn’t!” It all felt kind of mean spirited, and very inappropriate for the performer to be asked on international TV.
Here are my thoughts on the performances!
Cyprus - great performance! She deserved to qualify
Montenegro - your face said it all! Very cringy, very awkward dancing and moving at the end. It was very hard to watch. The absolute irony is that the group released a song in Montenegrin later that week and it was a million times better than “Heaven.”
Finland - The main issue was separating everyone onstage. Sebastian’s vocals were ok, but they weren’t connected at all during the performance and that’s what ultimately hurt them
Poland - These ladies should’ve qualified hands down! Robbed!
Slovenia - You said It yourself, it’s like they’re performing for a group of friends in their living room. Intimate, yet powerful. There was nothing else like it at the contest
Czechia - Yes! This was awesome and it’s just a feel-good song with a good vibe
Hungary - So sad this didn’t qualify!
Belarus - the margin was so close with ZENA and Tulia to qualify. I still don’t “Like It…” The lyrics make no sense other than the chorus. I would’ve preferred “Pali Się” over this
Serbia - Nevena says “kruna je tvoja” (”the crown is yours”) but really the crown is hers. Great job, Serbia!
Belgium - Eliot did an alright job. His vocals just weren’t all there.
Georgia - Oto brought a show and after his performance, I wouldn’t have minded seeing him in the final
Australia - Queen Kate! Great song! Powerful message! I have nothing but praise!
Iceland - Meh. Matthías and Klemens had good vocals, other than that, not my cup of tea
Estonia - Another meh. Victor’s vocals were way off.
Portugal - Conan was robbed! That is all.
Greece - Katerine was one of this year’s best female vocalists. The song and staging were great.
San Marino - The song was far better than “I Didn’t Know.” Serhat’s vocals were not good at the semi. He did improve for the final

Portugal came last with the jury
Due to Jury mistakes, Poland lost out on qualifying in the first semi over Belarus, and Lithuania missed out in the second semi over Denmark.
I hope they are both compensated.

Jonathan Parrish Madonna was horrible. She couldn’t be bothered to show up for rehearsals, and it showed majorly. It’s even worse that her pitch was fixed after it aired live because she was soooo out of tune so many times. I feel like that time could have gone to someone more deserving of the spectacle that is the Eurovision Grand Final.✌️💚

I've never loved the Serbian song much - too dull but I agree Hungary and Portugal should have gone through and we could have done without Estonia. Poland would have been more interesting too. I've never been that impressed by Greece. I like San Marino and they barely ever qualify and it was going to go horribly wrong for Belarus in the future as Lubeshenco would ensure they couldn't have nice things like the ESC or functioning democracy or the chance to speak their minds with freedom - so I'm glad they got this.

Great to see you back. For me this Eurovision was very disappointing in terms of voting. I really think it has been a lot corruption, especially with the jury vote. It is annoying seeing Cypriot and Greek juries giving each other 12 points year after year forgetting they're supposed to be professional juries. San Marino's trash overrated. Juries really punished every song performed in their national language : Albania, Serbia, Slovenia, France, Portugal, Poland, Hungary & Spain. With the exception of Italy, the Big 5 are punished. Sweden, on the other hand, is always overrated.

Yanis P. Iceland’s staging was kind of like a hamburger parked in a toothpick. The vocals were way off in the SF. I still respect what they brought for Iceland, but I did grow weary of all the antics.✌️💚
