The google is wrong. This was because Lord Krishna (jagganath) was unwell and he expressed his desire to visit Gunduchi (spelling might be wrong) temple. He lived with his brother and sister. So on the way they visit their Mausi (mother's sister's) house. In the meantime, they gave darshan to alot of people who were unable to see him before.
I'm from North, near Delhi. And this is what my mom tells me every time the Rath Yatra begins. Also, the procession returns back as well.

Here is the real context behind rath yatra. After Krishna was killed by hunter, his blue heart was carried by a Sadhu and later was thrown to the water because he got scared of it's magical powers. That is the end of dwaper yug. Now comes the Kaliyuga .There are lots of stories how this heart came to king indradumnya. Gundicha, the queen of King indradumnya ordered the construction of statues in a place called Gundicha temple in Puri after having a dream. Condition was that nobody should open the room where the construction is going on. But after some days, she couldn't resist, but opened the doors anyways and she saw the statues in existing form. That is why every year Jagannath visits Gundicha temple where the statues were first constucted. That is why it is also called Gundicha rath Yatra .On the way, Jagannath visits his mausi i.e aunt and pauda pitha is given as bhog. Return Yatra is called Bahuda Yatra. After return, jagannath offers rashagolla to Laxmi to please her. This is the biggest annual festival in terms of people participation at one place in India. Kumbha mela in prayagraj is the biggest, but it is not an annual event. The English word juggernaut comes from this festival because in old days, people wish to die under Rath to get salvation.

    Hare Krishna Harnoor ,
Felt good to see your Videos ,always meek & humble
Actually I would like to share the History of Rathyatra as it has links both to Mathura & Odisha
    1. When lord Krishna was on planet earth ,at teenage he went from Vrindavan to Mathura to kill demon Kamsa & futher got settled in Dwarka ( Gujrat ), Krishna was life & soul of Residents of Vrindavan where he spend his childhood , so After decades when battle of Mahabharata finished , Krishna along with Many citizens of his Dwarka Kingdom came to Kurukshetra for Bath at Sacred lake over there, & also citizens from Vrindavan too came to bath & coincidently they met, Residents of Vrindavan were seeing Krishna after many decades & were remembering his childhood pastimes in Vrindavan , So When Krishna's Rath started back to Dwarka , Residents of Vrindavan stopped the Rath & Pulled it back to Vrindavan , Krishna stayed there in Vrindavan for some days then went back to Dwarka his kingdom.
So Rathyatra is mood to Bring Krishna back to our heart ,which now have got filled with many impurities due to Absence of lord in our heart .
    2. Another instance is There was a King named " Indradyumna " in part of middle India ,he was great devotee of Lord Vishnu , so He got a dream one night lord Said him tommorw go to Shore of Puri ,you will find big log of wood floating in shore of sea over there , take that wood & make diety from that , thus by help of many soldiers he brought the log to Queens palace & many tried to carve a diety of lord Krishna out of that but were failed in there intial attempts itself , finally one old Brahman came and accepted the task at condition that he need a room for that work & he will lock the room from inside & just open when work is completed , so king & queen accepted ,but after 15 days the sound of hammer as for carving stop sounding , so queen after few days started to get anxiety that poor old Brahman might have died out of hunger , so she requested king to break the door & open it , To there astonishment the brahman was disappeared from room & dieties were only half carved of Krishna ,his elder brother balaram & his younger sister Subhadra , Now king & queen were very upset as dieties were half carved with face , half hand till elbow & body till stomach with No leg , so according to Vedic Rules it cannot be worshiped as it was incomplete , but at Night lord came to dream of King & told , Make a nice Temple & Worship him in same form as it is , he want to deliver the people of Kaliyuga in this form itself .
So king built a very huge temple 3 km away from queens palace & worship was started , Now one day Lord krishna Desire to visit to his Birth place as of now it was quuens palace ,as this Current dieties were carved there, so he requested his brother & Sister also to join .
So they went there & stay for nearly 8 days at queens palace and later come back,
Due to this pastime in Jagannath Puri , Rathyatra is celebrated once every year , Jagannath mean " Jagat - Universe " & " Nath - Lord " so it means " Lord of Universe " as Krishna shows his Universal form to Arjun during Mahabharat battle.
& Full Form of ISKCON is
" International Society of Krishna Conciousness "
    Sorry for so long Explaination
But I Serve as Full time Volunteer as Brahmacharya in Iskcon - in India ,so I taught to share what i learned .
    Hare Krishna :)
(Edit - Would like to Request u to read Bhagvat geeta which u got as a gift in Rathyatra , You will get a new Vision to see a Life )

Both are right, the krishna chariot in the google was saying about dwapar yug and krishna in form of lord Jagannath in kalyug, the chariot story differs but the mool tatwa is the same. Just like you come out with your car for various purposes. But in all the cases you use it as a medium of travel journey. Similarly parmatma (lord Jagannath) come with a body (Chariot) for a journey and when a devotee see param brahma inside the chariot for a glimpse he or she gets the way for moksha."Rathe tu Vaamanam drustva Punarjanmam na vidyate" || It means when you see inner inside your body (chariot) you see the real you or the brahma i.e. 'aatmagyan' hence will be freed from birth and death cycles. Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra is based on the entire journey of a soul to salvation. So the Puri Rath yatra is also called 84 yoni yatra. Further you can add zeros. There are 3 chariots with 42 (16+14+12) wheels in total and the up and down journey depicted as 84. The 3 chariots depicted as the three types of bodies in hinduism i.e. Sthula, Suksm and Karana. Besides, It's also called navadinatmak yatra bcoz the up to down journey takes 9 days. Although lord stay another 3 days outside before entering back to Srimandir or Vaikuntha. So the total stay outside the temple is 12 days. It's like the soul makes a journey under the influence of 9 planets along the 12 rashi chakra. It revolves around until moksha. The soul will be out of the janma mrutyu chakra when you dive deep devoted inside your chariot to get the darshan or aatmagyan. God is everywhere but if you ever arrive in the land of lord Jagannath atleast once in a lifetime it will be easier for anyone in this kalyug to attain moksha. Jai Jagannath 🙏❤️
