I'm a hobbist, always have enjoyed making/building stuff. Custom load my oun ammo since 1975 enclude'g cast my bullets. Started fly fishing couple of yrs ago after studying+tying flys for others along time. You sir are a very talented young man. I'm not sure l can express how much I'm impressed by you. You're basically building models that work/catch fish. Please keep up your good work.👍
Wish you sold baits! My son spends thousands of dollars a year on just lures, heck you could make a fortune just off him!!! We all love you and Chelsea, and of course fin and chip!!! Marling baits ROCK!!!
I just came across this older video of yours. I sure did miss your witty banter. I think you're one of the funniest guys on CZcams. You signed it '15 , it's only 4 years old, you've come a long way buddy!
You are so freaking talented!!!! Wow, great job. So far my favourite has been the little duckie lure. And the fact that you give them away to your supporters is u just super classy and generous of you. I'm a new subscriber but I absolutely love what you do. Please keep making these lures and vids for us.
Aww look at little baby marling! No but for real can't belive its been that long think I started watching you around 14k subs and been here ever since keep it up man!
Hey! !! We just subscribed to you!! My husband gets off work, takes a shower and puts you on all evening! !! You've got a lot of talent!!!! He said he'd love to go fishing with yea!!! LOL*
I love your videos I want to try to do smaller types of them and these are inspirational to show how it's not just the plastic lure for $6 that catches fish that these are creative and sentimental
Brilliant Job Mate! As always. Love Your Work! Thank You once again for your Time in putting time into Making us a Video to enjoy 😉 keep’em Coming. Regards: Rod
WOW!! That's beautiful art work!! Why was the putty mixture you used to cover the lead h holes? I'VE been using DURHAMS Water Putty. It dries rock hard, but sands off easily. Way cheaper than wood putty, and you can control the thickness of it.
+keale s Thanks! I sealed the lead holes over with a mixture of saw dust and epoxy. I'll have to look into that Durhams stuff. It sound good for that application.
Just discovered your channel and am quite impressed with the way these pieces of art look like! I must admit that I'd loke to cast this one specificly at Guerrero Lake , certain flats at Falcon Lake and a couple more down here in Mexico but for Largemouths!
Hello my friend. I congratulate you for your tremendous work. You have tremendous talent in your hands. God bless you. My work is similar to yours. Fine carpentry I also congratulate you for each video, great, very well done. Again, God bless you and your little family.
it really isnt hard, I quit buying crank baits years ago .. been making my own for the last 10 yrs .. and winning money on your own in tournaments is awesome :) Had people trying to buy my baits for a long time.. I just make em for me .. and a few friends
+Z71Ranger just cause i dont have videos of making lures.. dosent make me just a kid lol.. i play and run game servers Im a GEEK .. but been make cranks 10 yrs.. just never felt the need to make vids on the subject.. im 50yrs old.. just an old geek thst has lots of hobbies :)
Damn, how do you sharpen your chisels? I bought a chisel set a few months ago and now they're dull, and I would appreciate it if you told me what you use and how you sharpen your chisels.
Why not wired through with swivels for the mid hooks? All the plugs I've had that last years and years and not just a few fish were wired through. I dunno if I'd be confident putting that thing in the water with any significantly strong fish attached to it. They get leverage on one of those hook loops and it's getting smoked
been watching all your vids this weekend..I make lures myself.. You ever drilled your lead hole a little bigger/deeper and put b'bs in it. Works as weight as well as added sound while in the water.. Try it out sometime!

I was wondering what you do to get your epoxy bubble free? I’ve been using the same epoxy you did in this video and am having trouble figuring out what I’m doing wrong. Any advice would help!
Great video ! Congratulations ! :) I have an important question: what are the products that you put before and after painting, please ? (excuse my bad english, I'm french..) :)
It's been a long time maybe, but I just read your coment. It is called "Clear Coat" it serves to seal the wood so it will never let the water get inside. Hope still help you. Cheers!
Love your work. could you tell me the site that you get your screw eyes. I have always made my own with wire but am about to attempt a saltwater mullet lure and think that I am going to need a bit of a stronger set up. Thanks!
Thanks! I'm ordering my screw eyes from this page now: www.lurepartsonline.com/Online-Store/Screw-Eyes/-092-Magnum-Screw-Eyes.html .. These look super tough. I use a BBQ rotisserie motor I got from Home Depot for $30. It works great!
Hello Marling, greetings from Peru...I've watched almost all your videos, and your work is awesome. Thanks for sharing them. I like to do my own lures too, and I was thinking to do a project using some hard wood. What sort of wood would you recommend me to use as a beginner?? Thank you in advanced, Antonio
Have you ever thought about making Muskie lures? I've seen similar lures sell for over $100. at muskie sportshows. Change the lip to a larger one so the lure dives 20 to 30 feet and I think you would sell a few of them.
+MsPrincesspaulina I've probably made more than a thousand Muskie lures, and have sold quite a few for over $100. The shows sound like a good idea. A lot of guys mention for me to do some, so it's in my plans for the future.
2 questions what kind of wood do you usually use and can you make some videos of smaller crankbaits for bass... I'm getting in to lure making and all tips are appreciated... awesome videos

I loved your video and i loved your multi talent in curving woods and painting colors - the way you look to the lure tells a lot about your talent and about your love to what you do as a kind of art more than DIY lure kindly i wana ask you about something ,, what is this material or product you pouring in the lure and transform into solid shape ?
Weird to see him back before he discovered baking soda and super glue
And before he realized that he could narrate the build.
you should go after the guinness record for largest lure. Would be an epic video!
The largest fishing lure had a length of 4.74 m (15 ft 6.72 in), a width of 67.97 cm (2 ft 2.76 in), and a height of 48.77 cm (1 ft 7.2 in), and was created by Ethan Sparks (USA), in West, Texas, USA, on 8 August 2013. Good afternoon, tell me if not a secret, what part are you covering up for bait before and after painting?
Are there any pics/vids of this baits action in the water? Would be very interested to see how this swims!
what did you use as clear coat replacement or epoxy? looks great
Great job would like to know how much it weighs
Huge is a understatement
Damn, how do you sharpen your chisels? I bought a chisel set a few months ago and now they're dull, and I would appreciate it if you told me what you use and how you sharpen your chisels.
I like to see you do a scorpion soft plastic swimbait

How do you decide the angle of the diving lip???
Why not wired through with swivels for the mid hooks? All the plugs I've had that last years and years and not just a few fish were wired through. I dunno if I'd be confident putting that thing in the water with any significantly strong fish attached to it. They get leverage on one of those hook loops and it's getting smoked

I was wondering what you do to get your epoxy bubble free? I’ve been using the same epoxy you did in this video and am having trouble figuring out what I’m doing wrong. Any advice would help!
If you get bubbles in the epoxy you can lightly run a blowtorch over it and it'll burst the bubble
His shop even looked super different
Great video ! Congratulations ! :) I have an important question: what are the products that you put before and after painting, please ? (excuse my bad english, I'm french..) :)
It's been a long time maybe, but I just read your coment. It is called "Clear Coat" it serves to seal the wood so it will never let the water get inside. Hope still help you. Cheers!

Love your work. could you tell me the site that you get your screw eyes. I have always made my own with wire but am about to attempt a saltwater mullet lure and think that I am going to need a bit of a stronger set up. Thanks!

If you haven't done it yet...how about a water-dog - we use live 10" water-dogs to catch BIG bass in Texas
Where do you get your large glass eyes?
Why do I have a feeling he made that pencil too?!
Considering the pencil says Menards...
Do u make this type of lure only once in a while?
Or u make them on regular basis like small batches?
Because its AMAZING *thumbs up*

What air brush outfit do you suggest, friend?
quick question, what putty do you use over the lead? I use Bondo on mine
Usually I mix up some 5 min. epoxy and dust from my band saw. Sometimes I use microballons as a filler too.
