I think the community as a whole is realizing that the over sexualization of BW needs to end. These two young ladies came on the scene as something different, but seems like they're falling into the same routine. I think the community was wanting better for them. But, they are their own individuals and are grown.

I think the community failed them by not trying to hold them to a better standard. We have deep rooted issues because you definitely don’t have to be sexualized to matter. Chloe is extremely talented! But her sexual image doesn’t seem authentic or something she’s comfortable with. And it isn’t selling. The music audience she trying to appeal to isn’t the same ones that bought her music with Halle. I think she should’ve eased into her sexual image if it’s the image she wanted to portray because she’s alienating her core audience. she’s clearly finding herself, however it feels she is being pushed rather than going at her own pace. I’m suprised Beyonce didn’t help with this, because she knows exactly how to transition from a young musician to an adult musician. From a group member to a solo artist. I don’t know what to say. I worry for Chloe. I’m much older than her and her sister, so I felt uncomfortable as a fan of theirs up until around 2018 when I got to see them live during the OTR II tour. At the time, I didn’t realize what a force they would become. As far as Chloe’s sexuality, I look at her like my daughter. I wish she could see her as I do - transcending her sexuality. She and Halle are a breath of fresh air in the music business. I just want to see them win without being misguided, lowballed, and taken advantage of.

I can definitely understand her insecurity issues as I'm fighting that battle myself. However, I would be lying if I didn't say that I'm not concerned for Chloe. Even though I don't know her like that, this society exploits young (black) women who are trying to find themselves. When I was her age, I was being pressured to "show more" to exude confidence. If you don't follow that mold, society ignores you. It's like anytime you see a mainstream black female artist, they're almost always hyper sexualized and it's annoying because it puts us in a box.

@espresso, you absolutely need God. I’m 28 and I’m done with this shit. Lol it’s so hard finding and being you in a social media generation. If you don’t have to, don’t be on social media and find God. That literally saved me. Like God literally found me at 25 before I started to feel overwhelmed. It’s a really confusing, lonely, and challenging stage at times, but God will get you through it. My advice is to find a therapist if you can or a mentor, steer clear of bad influences in friends, try to love on you as much as you can, get to know YOURSELF, and pray for a good partner if you are looking. Don’t waste your time being with men who don’t treat you well or make you compromise your worth. Rest, pray often, find time to laugh, and you’ll be ok 🙏🏾

She really is beautiful. I have a similar look to her and have had low self esteem issues my whole life just bc I was think growing up. It was really just self perception bc I was always told I was gorgeous everywhere I went and I wouldn’t and couldn’t accept it. I’m in my late 30’s now and no one believes me but I look back and realize how much time I wasted picking on myself. It’s a shame. I hope she quickly realizes we see something totally different than she does and she should accept that she is beautiful and not fight it.

I was just listening to their albums and one of Chloe's songs...quite the transformation! I wish they would've made one more album before they went solo. Maybe it would've effected the outcome, I don't know. I can't wait to see The Little Mermaid! Halle's gonna kill it as Ariel!
She's a gorgeous girl and just finding herself. She's talented and self aware. I won't be watching swarm but I heard about the role she played. Maybe not what I would like her to fall into. People just don't like her just to not like her. Praying to finds peace, finds herself, stays far swat from dusty and toxic men and just thrives in all areas of her life.
Also, I think it’s interesting how Halle (to ME) has more natural sex appeal than her sister and Halle doesn’t even try. She’s just mysterious and gorgeous. Not bearing it all and even starring in a Disney movie. Aside from her weirdo BF, I think she’s the more appealing sister. But they both are FABULOUS. It’s giving sabotage from Beyoncé. Beyoncé’s dad taught her well how to transition from a teen star to an adult. From a group member to a solo artist. Chloe reminds me of myself at that age. When you come out of religious upbringings that may shelter you from the world, when you do come out to figure who you are it’s going to look very different from people who are more in the world and developed with their peers. The major difference is Chloe is a celebrity, so how she engages with social media captures a lot of the awkwardness or testing out of sexual roles or personas. I feel empathy for her, I came up when people still had to take a physical camera out to capture the night so hopefully she will find her confidence in however she’s presenting herself and run with it.
For a child, to experience violence of any type can cause issues in adult life. She is that little girl trying to find her voice.
She was great in Swarm, I think she should focus more on acting. I see something there for her.

I'm on the fence with this. A part of me is like well it is her body, and I could definitely see it as being something of coming into your body especially as being a more curvier woman. I was fat for most of my life, but I actually was skinny as a kid, and when I lost my way, I did wear more revealing clothes, but it was definitely because I was more comfortable with my body. Now I will say, it wasn't revealing like Chloe, but I can see how that could be her literally fighting her negative self-image about herself. On the other end, Chloe sometimes does come off as doing too much, and is pretty hyper sexual. Seeing her work and Chloe x Halle, those 1st albums, it's like a downgrade. Like I feel like on their sophomore album ungodly hour there was a perfect blend of her coming into her own and being grown, but also having that quality image and music. Now don't get me wrong, there are few songs I do like from her solo era, but the quality has dropped. It's not even me trying to hold onto her no longer being a teen.
The Chris Brown thing was a bad move no matter which way you painted, because people continuously keep saying it's old with the Rihanna thing, but he literally has a current history of being abusive misogynistic, and misogynoir towards women and black women, especially Dark skinned woman. Chloe being a black woman, it's messed up she would align with him. This is why we as black people get nowhere, when it's a dollar or fame attached to it, people love to do the hokey pokey. Stand for something or fall for anything.

It’s not just about his abusiveness, its also about his blatant disrespect towards black women.
