I reckon they chose to do drill to counteract the negative connotations associated with the genre, which are mostly derived from the older generation. They bring a new perspective to this style of rap, which will appeal to a new audience in an attempt to shed some more positive light on the genre and mutually benefit all artists involved with this style of rap.
