- The village of Eskdalemuir in the east of Dumfries and Galloway contain one of Scotland's most surprising sights - the Tibetan Monastery of Samye Ling. When founded in 1967 it was the first Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in the West. In the intervening years it has grown considerably and is known worldwide for its teachings. In this film Ani Lhamo, Assistant to the Abbot describes the history of the Monastery and the beautiful Temple. The Abbot, Lama Yeshe, was also kind enough to provide a short interview. The Monastery is named after the 8th century Samye Monastery in Shannan, Tibet. Samye Ling means the "Place Beyond Conception". For more information go to www.samyeling.org
Filmed August and September 2023

We have a similar monastery in Bylakuppe India. For Tibetan refugees it is a home away from home.
May the Dreams and Aspiration of Tibetans come True ✨️

Excellent presentation and interview. Inspiring...
Thank you 😊
Beautiful Monastery, may the teachings which can be seen visually beautiful, pleasing to hear and learn, may the hidden teachings which are difficult to find be practiced and preserved for eternity. Peaceful Scotland. 🙏🙏🙏💎💎💎
