    Mountain Hardwear’s Exposure/2 Paclite Plus Jacket, features a new 2.5-layer Gore-Tex, unmatched packability, waterproofness and breathability. Last year I tried the Exposure/2 Paclite and I didn’t think it could get any lighter. I was wrong. The Exposure/2 Paclite Plus Jacket is light and breathable and really soft up against the skin. With fully sealed seams, you won’t get wet no matter how gnar the conditions are.
    The Exposure/2 Paclite Plus is a relatively simple jacket but it is sure to keep you dry and comfortable. There are no pit zips, but the pockets are lined with mesh to allow for airflow if you need it. The pockets are all zip closures and there are two hand pockets (compatible with a harness) and one zippered chest pocket.
    As far as fit goes, I am 6’0 and 190 pounds and usually a size large. It was actually recommended I size down for this jacket so this is a medium. I like the fit a lot, and like that I don’t have a lot of extra material. If you’re looking to possibly layer under this jacket with an insulating layer, I would stay stick true to size. If you are looking for something to keep you dry in hot weather, size down one size.
    My favorite thing about the Exposure/2 Paclite Plus is that it is so light and packable. It takes up virtually no space and can easily be thrown into a pack and forgotten about. One thing that I don’t love is that there is a soft storm flap for your chin on the zip at the top and the zipper gets caught on it. In order to zip all the way up, you have to consciously tuck the flap in.
    Between the ridiculously lightweight 2.5-layer Gore-Tex, the nice fit and feel, and the fact that this jacket will keep you dry in any conditions, the Exposure/2 Paclite Plus Jacket will be in my pack for every adventure no matter what it is. I forgot to mention in my previous comment that it is very waterproof. I've had it for about three years now, and I haven't had to re-waterproof it. I found that in the rain if I am wearing a short sleeve shirt, it feels like water is getting through, but it doesn't, although it feels cold on bare skin.

    I have this jacket. It is one of my favorite rain jackets. Though, I know what you mean about the chin fleece portion. I have the same problem zipping it up. It is a little frustrating. Perhaps that is something MH can fix in further models. Also, the jacket makes quite a bit of "rustling noise" my wife complains about the noise it makes. Overall, it is very light, and works well.

    Thanks for the review. I'm eyeing this piece and wanted to get a closer look and some insight. Its a shame they didnt add pit zips.

    I too have a hard time zipping it up all the way. The chin guard flap always snags. I do find it to be a bit easier when you are wearing the hood. I’m thinking of cutting the bottom part at an angle and see if that alleviates that issue. Or I may just cut the entire chin guard flap. Wish MHW would have made the chin guard flap the entire length of the zipper, that would have avoided the snags

      Oh I don't seem to have that issue but I can understand how you would find it annoying.

    How warm is this jacket with just a T-shirt underneath, in temperatures around 6 degrees Celsius and higher

    • @AdventureRig
      @AdventureRig  Před 2 lety

      It’s only a thin shell and doesn’t provide any warmth really.

      @@KasirRham its a great jacket that is well made but I personally think it should be priced at around $150. There are brand new ones on EBay for $100 with tags.

      @AdventureRig  Před 2 lety

      If you find yourself in high humidity and lots of physical exertion you may encounter some wetting out. But I've not had anything terrible.

      @@AdventureRig I've got a patagonia triolet and the rain gets through across the shoulders, really disappointed in it for a premium priced jacket. Just don't want to make the same mistake again

      That's the unfortunate part when you use materials like Gore-Tex. You have to pay them as well which really increases the price of the garment. But it is definitely worth it if you need a light weight packable breathable waterproof jacket.
