I went thru some Iron issues about 2 years ago. I kept telling my doctor and family that something wasn't right. I would literally fall asleep mid conversation, or while I was on the phone and then one day I fell asleep while driving home from work. Scared me to death!! I was finally able to get everything under control but it was scary. I hope that everything gets worked out sooner rather than later! Much love from Tennessee!!
Most docs want your hemoglobin to be low before they give iron infusions.... hemoglobin of 110 is normal in some places, some places the low end is 115 and others it’s 120! Where I am, they don’t do blood transfusions until a person is below 80, for the most part.... there are risks to iron infusions so doctors have to weigh the pros and cons.....yes, it sucks to feel so shitty....but there are many many reasons to wait
A haemoglobin of 110 is brilliant. I generally don’t get infusions unless mine is 60 - 75, You don’t want to get lots of blood transfusions you get too many antibodies if you have lots over the years. In the public system in aus, you don’t get treatments until your numbers are bad. If you had insurance in the private system you get things like iron infusions at earlier, preventative times.

Holy shit man, when my Ferritin was 4 I was so, so overwhelmed with exhaustion that I wanted to die. Like, I wasn’t suicidal I was just so tired and empty and exhausted that I felt like dying would be better than how I felt. I wouldn’t ever wish feeling like that on anyone I’m sorry that you feel so awful.

A few years ago I had a ferritin of 2 and a hemoglobin of 57. I feel you, it’s a tiredness and exhaustion past anything you can describe!
I always hated having blood infusions, they always made me feel worse before I felt better. I hope your primary doc will help you out with whatever will get you feeling better!
You will NOT be letting anyone down. REALLY! Please try and find patience and peace regarding your health. I truly wish you nothing but success in all areas of your life. BTW, I just adore the way you and Tom are towards one another. Peace.

This sounds so so much like my recent struggle with my doctors. My iron was really low, and I was tired all the time, hair falling out, super pale, and it took them weeks of arguing with each other before they finally agreed to give me an infusion. Still waiting to feel the benefits of my infusion, but at least I got it done finally.

I have been and currently am border line enemic with the level of around 90-100 which is considered low in the UK if you want a comparison :) 120 is considered good which I haven’t been in around a year but when i was at my worst it was around 70
I had a ferritin of 5 one time. Transfusions are amazing!

Totally understand you! I am anemic too and in February/ March my heamoglobin was on 55 (I think 120 is normal) so they have me 2 blood transfusions, it was up to 80 and they just put me on ferrous sulphate (some strong iron tablets) but I felt just the same as I did with 55. It’s so annoying! Why won’t they just put it to what it’s supposed to be (or at least in my case over 100) and then give you the tablets. 😩😩😩

When my iron is low I feel like garbage too. I just had 5 200mg IV doses of iron 2 months ago, got tested and it came back normal. Got my routine blood done last week and my ferritin came back super low already. :/ I hope you get some treatment soon.

My ferritins 44, up from 22... no where near decent. It makes it hard to work 12hr shifts.

Anything can trigger our mast cells, unfortunately. Anemia alone doesn't usually trigger it, but not feeling well in general does. Swelling, unfortunately, goes hand in hand with both steroids and tpn. Hopefully they can get you an iron infusion soon. You may want to check with the intestinal specialist and ask why exactly they don't think you need the infusion. If you are not satisfied with their answer, you may need to look into finding another specialist. You have enough problems as it is and certainly don't need the added stress of needing medication and having a doctor who doesn't want to prescribe it.
I felt bad when your heart rate was 150 but i completely understand how it feels i have a heart condition and my heart rate stays that high 24/7 after i had my heart surgery in 2008 to fix it
I'm just here with my extreme allergy to pine while every store pulls every pine item ever and puts it on the selves lol. I'm also working with my insurance so I can go out of state to see a geneticists so I can get properly diagnosed and hopefully start having a better quality of life.

Hey Amy.. From Canada. Just wanted to let you know I’ve had Iron Deficiency Anemia (for hmm a little over 5yrs)
After an Upper G.I. Bleed. Happens I Almost died because I’d lost Sooo Much Blood...I’ll leave out the Gorey Details... Because I know it isn’t stuff (Some people don’t like blood, etc)...All that Ill Say is - That I was taken in ambulance & had 7 Blood Transfusions - Over 4 Days.
And a horrible ride with many Other Things - It felt like I was FALLING Fast like a Roller- Coaster that Just Would NOT Stop for about 3days.
So yaa Ohh I just understand & know how You are Feeling..
I know how having this feels & I just Wish that I could wake up & feel ok for a change.
- All Day.. And I think you said - Something about-It Doesn’t matter how much you sleep you get. I’m so tired & weak, but Constantly... So I know how you must be feeling & hope your Blood Testing Comes Back SOON for You.

I had an infusion when my ferritin was 5. I felt so tired I thought I had cancer, then after the infusion it was like being injected by energy.

I know from my experience in London they shitty the NHS that why when ever I can I go private keep nagging them the hospital 🏥 where start saying to them by law you can sue them is called negligence if they don’t want to give you treatment I actually done it and I won 7500 pounds I praying you get the infusion that you need

A ferritin of 6 and then 4 is terrible. I can't believe they wouldn't give you an infusion given your medical history. I see on instagram now that you are in the hospital...sigh
