Had the opportunity to watch Aattam at IFFK, watched it again yesterday and it makes me understand more nuances about the characters. It does not bore you a bit, The last movie that made me sit till the end and wanted to know more was Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, and Aatam also made he hook onto it till the very end and gives a feeling that maybe you wanted some more. Also they way it showed that people who are working in a Drama troupe come from various backgrounds and still need to make more money for a living is commendable. Zarin Shihab is a great talent along with the other unfamiliar and familiar faces. I hope more people come to theatres and watch it.
A correction - not ‘might’ have been an act of molestation, it happened to her in the movie 2:08

Superb film ! Not to be missed !
Aattam is actually playing in the US where I saw it. Most people went to Abraham Ozler (also excellent) and nobody was in the Aattam theater (3 total).
Though I loved this movie, partly because of the attention to detail. All the little scenes mattered: the perfume spraying at the beginning, the shadow play kissing, borrowing the keys for the cigarette, Bluetooth speaker, the doctor’s diagnosis, the money borrowing, etc.
All the details & most possibilities were considered, and almost every loose end was tied up nicely. The only thing I questioned was how she knew that it was exactly 2:30am or was that just an approximation, or was there something missing in the English subtitles?
What about the doctor diagnosis??

@@yahuyahu1362 @skru2476 @gauthamsid [SPOILERS] I feel the reason why Aji's (the old man with long grey beard) diagnosis plays a rather crucial role is because Aji is established to have an emotional attachment with Anjali (the victim) as she is the only one who occasionally calls and enquires about Aji's health. He is in complete support of Anjali from the start.
But after Aji gets to know about the supposedly huge offer from Hari (the alleged victimizer), Aji begins to have a somewhat selfish desire to travel abroad with the theatre group, see these various countries and is prepared to die there; as a last wish since he knows he doesn't have many days left.
If not for the diagnosis and the turn of events in the final act of the film, Aji would have been remained in the support of Anjali and would have never doubted her. Anjali is utterly shattered when she sees that even Aji doubts her, someone whom she cared for and respected.
Such a good movie in such a small canvas and low budget..

I think it is Nandan who is the culprit😮
There are three reasons to believe so.
1. It is true that he went to the room where Shajitha, the child, and Anjali were sleeping. He might have seen that Anjali is sleeping on a Sofa near the window. He might have also noticed that the window is open.
2. His behaviour after he was accused by the group members was vague and confusing. That enquiry was not followed up only because Madan questioned him about going out at night, to which he replied that he went yo get the medicine.
3. Among the three people who had a possible access to Hari's car keys, he is also one.
So, he first he goes to Shajitha and Anjali's room for medicine and notices Anjali sleeping near the window. He keeps that in mind. When he goes out later to get the cigarettes from Hari's car, he must have did the heinous act.
However, it is also possible that the writer never had any specific person in mind while writing the story because, the message of the movie is point out that all of them are the same. As Anjali tells Vinay later, the greatest crime in the movie is that nobody really asks this question : if not Hari, them Who?

yeah BR. I even found the film itself is a fitting answer to the question that revolves among the crew during the discussion that translates to,
"as artisans, should we not arrive at a different solution than mere compromise and kicking out?"
and Anjali does the same.

But what about the real culprit? He has gone scot-free and all the others have also come under suspicion for no fault of theirs specially when the foreign offer comes their way. It is like in todays world all are culprits😂
