- Me and my bike episode four is finally here. We have Alan Goodman and his Kingcycle guest starring. Alan is an avid cyclist with a wonderfully eclectic mixture of machines in his garage. He is also the chairman of our human-powered cycling club which is known as the BHPC www.bhpc.org.uk/

This is a great series. Really likeable people with really likeable bikes. I love watching people telling us the stories and experiences they have had with their machines.
I used to see you passing by Infront of my school St Paul's way in the morning. Used to always wonder what type of vehicle you rode 😂 it's quite cool. Just remembered you had a CZcams channel which I spent hours trying to find and finally did
I’ve had both a Speed Ross (Orbit Crystal) and a rear-faired king cycle, an Optima Baron and a Windcheetah. The Ross and Kingcycle were in many ways the best all rounders (in part because being higher up means you see more and can be seen), and I agree that the Kingcycle seat isn’t the most comfortable thing.

After Ricky Gervais Alan Goodman is the funniest British dude I know. On the other hand I don't believe Ricky can ride a SWB bent whilst telling a joke😂 I loved the rundown on the King Cycle. Great vid, John!

I only got started from a standstill with cleats and by pushing and pulling until I got enough speed up to clip the other foot in. Alan did not have the rear strap done up on the cloth fairing, that probably caused the noise by the strap flapping on the spokes. Goodwood looks a great place to ride. When I get transport sorted for the After 7 I will probably try it.
The Kingcycle is a nice looking Bent and fast also. Goodwood is an excellent circuit, not only for Classic racing cars ans Motorcycles, also Bicycles. Last week i picked up a Rans Rocket. Have to get used to 20'' wheels. Now have two Rear wheel Drives and two Front wheel Drive Bents. Hope that there is more to come from Me and my Bike ans Goodwood.
I've fallen off one of those, many years ago. I think it had a larger tailbox, definitely the same fairing. When one wasn't falling off, it was enjoyably quick.
I'd looked at one of these as an upgrade to my Pashley PDQ, but if it not all day comfortable it's not for me. That was a valuable video!

Great fun. I had one in Bristol in 1989. with Magura hydraulic rim brakes but with no fairing. Loved pedalling it hard while leaned over though roundabouts (before they ruined them by adding traffic lights). Lots of very surprised car drivers 😊 How effective is the fabric cover in helping speed? (I've just ordered a Performer low-racer type frame so am more than curious)
Same geometry as a Lightening Dynamics Phantom / P38 etc by the look of it?
It's a pity more recumbent's aren't made from 531.
Is that a normal faring on the front or did he make that?

How much faster is this bike with the fairing and without ?
I’d say the fairings and bag add about 5mph
