I spent 10 days on the Polar Pioneer in June exploring Svalbard. It looks like your trip was as good as mine, great boat and great crew. I also must say I purchased you book to help me plan an Iceland trip in 2022 and found it extremely helpful.

It would be interesting for me to know how Icelanders view Greenland. Those two places are always joined in my mind, mainly because they were both visited by the Vikings, who, I am told, gave them their names. These two places are also joined in my mind because of these names which seem to be reversed. That is, Iceland is not all ice. In fact it is quite "normal" in its aspect. Whereas Greenland, IS all ice, mostly. I've often wondered if there was some joke going on there with the Vikings and their naming of these places.
It is said that the vikings wanted to keep Iceland for themselves so gave it that name to deter others. Whereas Greenland was seen as good stepping stone to N America and would benefit from a permanent outpost, so they called it Greenland to make it sound attractive.
