YES! Lol there are videos of him with regular haircut and a bit chubby and I was wondering if it was someone else. He is one of those rare people who look amazing with crazy haircuts and even bald. I love his clothing and hairstyles so much in the past few years. He didn’t look good with plain normal hair at all

Kevin Olusola, the beat boxer is freakin' A-MAY-ZING!!! Many listen to him and think he is just their beat boxer. He sings like an angel, plays several instruments, performs "celloboxing", speaks several languages (fluent in Mandarin) and graduated from Yale. They all sing like angels!
"clear vocals" YES! It's one of the things I really like about them...you can actually understand the words they sing.
Singers in order of their verses: 1. Scott (Baritone, original member), 2. Mitch (tenor, original member and you will always have to ask, "Is that Mitch?" because he changes his look always), 3. Matt (Bass, only non-original member - replaced original Bass named Avi in 2017), 4. Kirstin (Mezzo-Soprano, original member) and 5. Kevin (Beatboxer and Tenor, original member and yes, he can sing).

Yes and all three met when they were 10 years old and have been together since.
Also in bohemian raphsody does Kevin not only sound like the whole drum kit, but at one point he is even making the arm gestures like he's hitting the cymbals
actually Mitch (the guy you asked "who is this guy?") is the high note singer more than Kirstie. AVI the original bass left in 2017 MATT the other black guy replaced him. all the other members are the same

You are a really observant reactor. Not one in ten realize that Matt doesn't take the high note and lets Kirstin sing it in the chord. Good job!
The key change is clever too (in the bridge part, that goes "of silence... of silence... of silence...") It's done so that Kirsten doesn't have to sing her part crazy high, which she would have to if they kept it in the same key the guys were already singing in - but at the same time it's done so subtly you barely notice it happening.
@@Maerahn their arrangements are one of their super skills. I loved how they snuck 3 key changes into "Can You Feel the Love". Again, the first one was sneaky and the last two were over the top.

You should check out Kevin's solo work -- he beatboxes, plays cello, songs, plays keyboard (using loop stations). To focus on his singing, watch Sign of the Times. To get a bit of everything (though, not much keyboard), check out his cover of Down, which is a musical masterpiece
There has been one change in 10 years. Matt has been Bass for 3 plus years so he is NOT new. And Kevin the beatboxer plays 3 instruments and is a very good tenor singer and is the most musically talented of all the members by their opinion.
Kevin is doing snare drum rim shots! He also does high hat and bass drum sounds! What blows my mind is when Kev does two to three side toms in the same phrase! Amazing!

The person that sang 2nd is actually a guy, original member Mitch. He's a couner-tenor so he has a naturally higher range. You probably wouldn't recognize him because he changes his look like every week. This is my favorite song by then. I like it better than the original and I've always loved the original and Simon and Garfunkel
I appreciate your thoughtful analytical comments. They're just what I look for in a reaction video.
From left to right they are Matt (new bass replacing Avi -- that's the only personnel change they've ever had), Kirstin, Scott (baritone), Mitch (tenor or even countertenor [male voice above tenor]), Kevin (beatboxer). Kevin does sing in some of their videos when he's not needed to keep the beat; he has a sweet tenor voice and a surprising falsetto extension above it.
Enjoyed your reaction! Spot on! Kevin sings in Imagine & Evolution of Michael Jackson. He’s a tenor. He also cello-boxes in Shallow & Perfect & Radioactive. I love their cover as a gritty urgent call to action! Also love how there are no egos in this group! They equally share the spotlight.
They have only had one member leave, the bass singer Avi Kaplan left after seven years and helped find Matt to fill the spot. Thus is a really tight group , the trio of singers have been friends since grade school. They did kids’ after school theater, graduated high school in Arlington Texas together and are the glue holding this all together.
Kevin does more than sing, he plays five instruments, sings, raps, beat boxes, speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and was about to enter Yale med school when he was asked to join Pentatonix. He has his own web site on CZcams, KO Kovers ( Kevin Osulola) and you should maybe start with his cover of Down. As far as Pentatonix he sings in their cover of Imagine.
Kevin is such an underachiever.🤷♀️🤭☺️ I heard he speaks four or five languages and actually did complete his pre-med🤯
the name you were thinking of is Melvin Franklin also known in the heyday as Blue. Also if you want to hear the beatboxer (Kevin) sing, I recommend you react to his version of "Sign of the Times."
Great reaction! The only new member is the bass, Matt. Mitch and Kirsten tend to change up their looks quite often so that’s probably yo didn’t recognize him.
And, about Kevin, he does sing! He has a beautiful tenor voice. He also has perfect pitch, plays concert level cello and sax, fluent in mandarin, has grad from Yale with a pre med! He’s pretty great.

Matt - the bass singer is the only new member. All the others from right to left Kristen, Scott, Mitch and Kevin (beatboxer) are all OG members. Scott will sing the bass line when Matt takes the lead. Kevin in the early days only beatboxed but has taken on more singing parts. They are all amazing,. I appreciate your review of their techniques.

You gotta get with their more recent videos! Try their latest original, "Happy Now." And then, pick up on "Havana," "Mr. Grinch," or "When the Party's Over," (or Can You Hear the Love Tonight?" or "Dreams.") You will see that KO has a lovely high tenor voice and he sings quite a bit these days. You are seriously behind the eight ball and need to catch up!
K.O. (Kevin) their beatboxer also stands out in Pentatoniix version of "New Rules X Are You That Somebody" and "Blinding Lights" - just to name a couple.
Matt (the bass, in the white jacket) is the only new member. The others are all original members 😊
Mitch is the tenor and can actually hit higher notes than Kirsten. And yes, Kevin (beatboxer) can sing!

Check out their videos frim the Sing Off. They had only been with the beatboxer and their original bass singer Avi Kaplan (who has his own killer videos since hes been on his own). There's 17 performances...really shows how they developed they style too.
They had only been togethere for a couple weeks.

Growing up on the original, these covers are awesome. Same song different interpretation completely different feeling. Original: light, airy didn't really match the words. Disturbed: mood matched the meaning. Pentatonix: in between them. Thanks for sharing your feelings on this.

This is a really old reaction from my first reaction channel, 3 years back. I didn’t know then what I know now.
Simon and Garfunkel is melancholy. Disturbed is angry. PTX is hopeful. Peter Hollins is technically pretty but it doesn't evoke much emotion for me. Mitch has so many looks..Kevin is the Bass, taking over for Avi who went solo.

All members are original except Matt(black guy in white jacket) who replaced Avi as bass a few years ago.
Everybody in the group is the same, except the original bass (Avi Kaplan) left for personal reasons and was replaced by Matt (White jacket). If you go away from them for even a brief period Mitch, (counter tenor) is a chameleon and looks different in virtually every performance. It’s confusing, but that high voice never changes.
The ORIGINAL was done by Paul Simon, who wrote it, and Art Garfunkel. Disturbed covered it (and ruined it IMHO).
Kevin (Mr. Beatbox) is not just a beatboxer. He is a concert cellist, a Med school grad AND a damn good singer in his own right. Also, there is only ONE girl in Pentatonix. Mitch is the little guy with the high voice you thought was a girl. Matt is Avi's replacement when Avi left for personal reasons. Avi recently joined HomeFree after pursuing a solo career. Avi is the LOW bass. Scott is the blond guy who can handle some low bass needs. KIRSTEN, the woman in the group, is a mezzo soprano and changes her look every so often. Mitch seems to be the chameleon of the group though and changes his look from song to song as they release new stuff.
