00:11:39 Got Questions?
Thanks so much for your all videos Jason - we operate a charity and videos are the only way we have of reaching people - sound is recorded all over the place with noisy backgrounds, etc. Just lately I've started trying to take the sound seriously - dialogue, wanted sound, and music background, levels - I've a long way to go learning, but the last couple of videos have started to sound a darn sight better than before - all thanks to what I've learned from your videos - I really appreciate the knowledge and tips.
Awesome! So glad that my videos have been able to help you make your videos better and reach more people. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a comment somewhere.
@@JasonYadlovski I will my friend - thanks again!
Jason, that is a very cool tool and explanation. It will be useful in my production flow.
Wow... Now i rethink For this
Awesome video, Jason and I really appreciate it....but (there is always a but 🙄🤣)..I am not sure how I feel about an A.I voiceover...
I can see the positives and the negatives I suppose...but one thing I am sure of, YOU don't need it, Jason 😁.
Imagine a "professor" narrating a Quick Tip Tuesday...NAH!! 🤣
The technology is awesome and I really appreciate your video, Jason .. i am just a little unsure how I feel about it.
Cheers as always, Jason 😁🙏
I'm with you Gary.
If the I-don't-know-how-many-thousands of CZcamsrs all pick from the same couple of dozen AI voices around, everything is going to sound the same.
The old saying holds true: "Be yourself. There's no-one better qualified."
I hear ya Gary and Andy. 😁👍 I think there is a time and place for tools such as this. I think it’s good to know the available options incase you need them, but I agree with Andy that you gotta be yourself. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! I appreciate it! 😁
I have my own voice clone, and my own mother couldn't tell it wasn't me, until I revealed that it wasn't actually me and she really started listening. When you pull back the curtain, it becomes fairly obvious which is who.
You can also use the transcript to upload your videos to CZcams. The auto captions is not as good as Resolve's transcription
These are good tools and I do use them (although I have to admit not Artless but I may look at it when my current subscription ends). The one thing I find a bit time consuming 8s splitting up the tracks and resynchronising them to the video. It would be great if you could upload an existing VO file and have it automatically transcribed and times as the original, so it can just drop into place.
Jason am I missing something here? So many CZcamsrs who I respected are pushing this as new and saying how wonderful it is but AI voice overs have been around for a long time in fact years and this like the rest still sounds like an AI voice. Simon Says was one of the first and I tried that out many years ago. The problem with all of them is there is no real inflection (which humans do naturally when speaking) in the voices and this has always been the problem. To therefore get it sounding anywhere acceptable you need to spend a long time putting in spaces and commas etc. Surely as someone who loves sound do not really think this is good?
While it’s not new, it’s a new tool from Artlist. Many of us work with Artlist and these videos share their new tools. I think they pass just as good as humans now. It’s pretty amazing I think.
@@JasonYadlovski I do understand that you like many others work with these companies as part of your income but as I do not get paid by Artlist and having been in the film industry for many years as a director/ editor on all kinds of productions, I would never pass off this as a substitute for a human voice over. I do use AI voices sometime for guide tracks but never anything more as they do not as yet sound like a human voice over and this new one is not a lot better than the many that are available.
The companies are trying to exit by spending ad revenue and paying influencers, then they hope to sell to a larger corp like Apple, or Microsoft and be rolled into their ecosystem and cash out. All in the name of convenience while they get rich and put thousands of voice actors out of work. It's all very gross.
@@christurbiville I agree entirely and it grieves me influencers, many who I respect as filmmakers are instead of supporting editors, voice over artists and scriptwriters are helping these companies destroy them.
I am not against AI and feel it does has a place in filmmaking but it needs to be controlled and not used at the expense of human beings..
Great video; thanks for making it. Question. How/should you say the vo was created by AI in the credits? How would you handle that? Thanks again.
That's a great question and I asked Artlist that too. In youtube, you can check a box that says AI was used. Otherwise, I'dd probably just list it in the credits - something to the effect that the content is original and input into an AI Voice.
You have the “voiceover voice”!! I like your modesty👏🏻
😜
It's a little disappointing to see AI being highlighted in this video since voice acting is already an underpaid and underappreciated artform. I personally struggle with getting my voice to sound right in my recordings, especially when doing voice work for characters that are outside of my normal range. But I'd rather spend hours trying to get the pitch I want by editing/mixing it than getting a subpar AI voice, that is actively harming the planet, to spit something soulless out in a few minutes. I think your voice sounds fine already, and as an artist who likes to have these videos in the background while planning projects, I'd much rather hear your natural speaking tone than something robotic.
Awesome idea. Do you happen to know if Epidemic Sound is going to do something similar?
Not sure
Don't watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going. - Sam Levenson
stonks
The problem I've run into with every text to voice AI is the vocal inflections suck and don't sound natural. If it would convert the actual audio track into a different voice, with the same inflections, it would be worth it.
Hi Jason just one Question can you choise Languages or is it just work on English?
Ai voice tool at Elevenlabs it can output in multiple languages and voices.
So far english, but more to come I believe
@@JasonYadlovski ok thank you
How about fine-tuning the ai voiceover to sound like me instead?
In that case you can just record it, don’t need AI for that. 😜
Do they have a voice that sounds like a grumpy old bloke from Yorkshire?
If not I will just have to keep doing my own voice overs. 🤣
But seriously Jason, this is an amazing tool that sounds very natural.
I hope it doesn't put VO artists out of a job, but I think it might at some point.
Haha, no grumpy old bloke yet, haha.
Great option at a reasonable price. However,. the only way to get this to be completely "right" would be for ArtList to allow you to upload your recorded VO and then build the new output based on that input. Otherwise, you may find yourself working through phonetics and custom spellings in your text input to get the timbre, emphasis and flow correct.
I hear ya. In my tests it worked out great. But if you have more unique things to say (I’m not that sophisticated 😜) I could see where it might have some trouble.
@@JasonYadlovski Are they all with an American Accent? I'm Australian, and we have different accent quirks, and as for the English, a different accent for every village. I gotta be honest, AI scares me, because just like electronics, it's getting out of hand already. And my voice, is how my audience connects to me.
I wish this was implemented in DaVinci Resolve Studio itself.
It might be native one day. 😜
@JasonYadlovski, I understand sponsorships and promoting their new features, but the voice AI is one I absolutely abhor. Why, you might ask? Well, this is CZcams. People on this platform are creating videos for CZcams, not a Hollyweird production. The level of overly-produced videos on YT nowadays is ridiculous. All of the "more cinematic" this, 24fps that, bokeh background, anamorphic lens flares, blah, blah, blah, is overly unnecessary for CZcams. And now, we're being over-saturated with all of the AI BS.
I, for one, am not looking for, nor expecting a YT video to be on the same level as a Hollyweird production. I much prefer to hear the creators voice, good, bad or indifferent. Videos that are over-produced I click off. If you're a professional video production person or business, then professional voice-overs are fine, but for any work I do that requires a voice-over, I will use an actual, live, voice-over, artist, if I choose to not do the V.O. myself. I will gladly pay them for their work, and keep them employed as opposed to paying another company their monthly extortion $$ to use their product. I refuse to use ANY company that requires a monthly extortion fee to use their product.
I like channels like yours and @CaseyFaris, @JorisHerman, @DanielBatal, @DarrenMostyn, @MrAlexTech, and others, because they are simple, straight-to-the-point channels that offer good information without all of the BS, and I really hope they stay that way!?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Some people love it and some hate it. All people and companies can do is provide the tool for those who do want to use them. I like to show people what’s available incase it’s something you’re looking for. Thanks for watching! 😁
Personally, I like your voice Jason. I like my own voice too. AI is slowly diminishing anyone's chance to succeed as a creator. It's kinda disheartening.
And one of the commenters here said how he hated "Holly weird"... I don't agree with that person. To each his own... Thanks for the helpful videos on DaVinci!
Thumbnail art BG is by Ducky 3D is guess?
I don’t know what that is, I make it from an image on Adobe express and the Resolve logo.
So, it's just eleven labs.
Ppl in the comments seem to have no imagination.
People don't like change. 😜 I myself don't like change, but if you don't keep up with technology (not saying you have to use it, just be aware of it) you'll get left behind.
ROFL! I’d pay $144 just to have an AI or even a human being pronounce my name correctly. Lol.
😜👍
Ban AI in creative fields. Before everyone (including video editors) loses their jobs.
Unfortunately, I don't think there's any slowing it down, but I'm with you on the concern. We all have to figure out how to adapt to the technology that's coming.
Then hire someone who has talent.
That’s a great option if you can afford it. 👍
You're going hard with those genocide based company.
Not following what you’re even talking about🤷🏻♂️
Good bye to another profession
oh I hear you!
Don't worry, he and all the guys liking this will soon be out of job.
It’s just tools if it’s something you need. Not everyone needs to use things like this but it’s nice to know the options. Technology in general is replacing jobs, etc, that’s not going to stop unfortunately. We all have to find a way to adapt and that’s not to say we need to use tools like AI, just that you need to figure out what will work for you.
Am I the only one that thinks this is creepy?
No. I created a voice clone of myself, and even I think it's 'creepy' 😂
I like real human voices. Ai still sounds robotic to me.
@@mshea5906 Ai voice is cheap
Sorry to report, it all sounds robotic and fake. I’d much rather your own natural speaking voice. If it ain’t broke, etc
I'd disagree, but I'd probably use my voice first before trying an AI voice most of the time. 😜
The definition of the word "creator" is lost. If a creator can not even muster up the courage or time to use their own voice in videos, then what is content creation at this point? Also AI used be called Machine Learning. AI is the rebrand because the words Machine Learning said the quite part out loud.
But you do have to ‘create’ the text to put in there, so technically you’re still a creator. 😜 But I hear ya, I’m good with people using their own voice to. It’s just an option for those who want it. 👍
@@JasonYadlovski Sadly the text is now just chatGPT spitting out overly flowery and awkwardly phrased sentences, then crammed into some lazy AI VO software. The cost of a human voice actor at this point is so low, that alone proves that most (not all) content creators are just lazy and desire to invest nothing - not emotion, not intellect, not creativity, not money into their craft. If a "creator" has zero skin in the game other than typing a prompt, then their investment and output is worth zero.
CZcams soon will roll out AI labels on content and start pushing back against monetizing it. This is happening in meeting right now. They already know that Advertisers have studied AI and know it provides very low ROI, low customer engagement, and low brand sentiment. Since all media platforms rely on Ad revenue, they will begin to label and demonetize AI content and boost human created content. If we all wear blue shirts, the person wearing the green shirt gets the attention.
There are more than 500 million + disabled people around the world and you think they don't deserve to be a content creator you a$$, the voices are not either bad they are humanly so firstly no one will know it's Ai so it's not even a problem
It’ll be your job AI comes for next. These Voice overs lack feel, nuance and humanity. But it will cost a lot of people their living. They stole years of training and acting skill to produce these tools. AI is just data scraping theft.
I hear ya and you’re probably right. This is why we need to learn about the new technology and figure out how to adapt so you don’t loose your job or living. Things never seem to slow down, only speed up and move forward. 😜
Support voice actors and keep this trash out of Resolve.
I agree, support people when you can. 👍 But you also have to be aware of all the new technology coming out and how it might impact you and/or your career.
