Good job Team GB Girls! 🇬🇧 🇬🇧 🇬🇧
Congrats to the Brits!
Two of the team members are from my hometown of Perth so proud of them :)

This straight forward, easy to understand description made watching Olympic curling so much more enjoyable! I really appreciate that there are no unnecessary sarcastic or "comedic" comments. Thank you!
Thanks Kirk, glad this video helps you understand Curling!
I am currently watching the 2022 Olympics and this comment is still relevant!
Same here I’ve always liked watching but never understood one minute of it except the sweeping…
Same!
@@jackrogersjr.4014 Funny, the sweeping was the part I did not understand. But I did not know the ice was pebbled, but I still can't see the 'curl...' But also thanks, Ninh, well presented.
I have been watching this sport on the 2022 Winter Olympics. I have never been interested but after a while I started asking questions that no one could answer. Thank you for this video. It has helped me appreciate the skill required in this sport.
Same!!!
Same ;)

Same here!!! This was so informative and made watching it now much less frustrating lol
Finally, somebody explains this. Thank you, Ninh Ly!
Great! Glad this video helps!

Wow. I didn't realize how complex curling actually is! Seems like fun though.
+Turbo9987 Thanks man, I appreciate the comments. Curling is cool and once you understand it, it becomes mesmerising to watch. Be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
It's usually a lot of fun, whether you are winning or losing - at the level i play at, anyway. For professional curlers, it's more passion than fun, I think (just my guess). Besides, playing in a mixed league has always been a great way to meet some pretty women :-)
Why is it called a stone, not a rock?
@@seanleith5312 because a stone is all polished. and a rock. well it isn't . a stone is a rock polished . maybe by the sea or some other factor. humans
How is that fun smh
thanks man I've been wondering about this sport for ages
+leonel corrales Thanks Leonel, I appreciate the comments. Be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
I'm a new wheelchair curler and this was really helpful- even if WE do it without needing any sweeping 😉 We don't talk a lot about rules and that at practice and ours are a bit different than yours, but with my first provincial throw down coming up, this will help! Too bad we don't have one... yet.... (it would be fun and an interesting project!)- just sayin'.😆 Anyways, thank you for making this!!
+ChronicallyFearless You're welcome! Thank you so much for the kind comments, and once again, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
I've always enjoyed watching it, as one of my favorite Winter Olympics event. But even with all my watching experience and commentators I could never really grasp what's happening! Thx to you, I GET IT 😄!
Awesome! Glad this video helps you understand Curling! :)
The first time I've had any understanding of the sport! Thanks for the very clear and simple explanation.
+Gibby Cates You're welcome Gibby, I'm glad you approve of this Curling video and that it was helpful to you. Be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
I am currently watching Olympic Curling. This has helped tremendously! Thank you! I understand it better now and will enjoy it even more.
Curling is my favourite Winter Olympics event but I have never understood it until now. Thank you for explaining it concisely and clearly.
Anytime Kelvin! Much appreciated!
And to the maker of this video, a BIG Thank You for making it! Make more and more "how-to's" on ALL popular sports. You understand how to lay it all out so anyone understands.
Excellent, thorough explanation of the sport. Easily understandable by those who have never seen the sport before.
As an American, I never knew the complexity of this game and THANK YOU for being straight-forward and concise with this video especially your visual examples; they're perfect. Thanks again. Good karma your way.
+tommydags1 Thanks again man - a lot of people don't get Curling, so I tried to make it simple with this video :)
Never really understood the strategy of Curling. This video helped immensely. Now I can watch the Olympics and understand what is occurring. Watched other videos, but this one made the best sense for me
Thanks
Awesome, glad this video helps you understand Curling!
Thanks. I'd picked up on some of this before, but this was very informative. This is my favorite winter game to watch. Can't wait to watch again, knowing the game a bit better now.
Cool, thanks!
Winter Olympics - now's the time to watch the Curling. It's pretty cool!
Do you like playing hide the salami???

Great explanation of curling. I had no idea it was so complex. Thank you!
Anytime, glad you found this video helpful :)
This sport is so underrated. I genuinely love watching it, especially during the Olympics.
I didn’t knew anything about this game and now understood by listening your video. I will Leeann more by watching the game as you said. Thanks
That explains quite a few of the things that were baffling me, thank you. Wish I’d watched it a week ago!
But why are all of the players so good looking?
Like every single one of them.
I dunno actually?! It certainly seems to be the case that they're handsome or pretty.
It's so strange!
Nah, not every single one. Many of them yes! But definetly not all
They are daughters of ZEUS.
Like the sign outside of a gentleman's club reads " The home of 100's of beautiful girl's.... And 3 ugly ones !!! " LOL
They are holding a tournament in my hometown this weekend, and national trials for the Olympics in November, so we went to watch a few matches. Most of the rules are kind of self evident, as is the scoring, but I didn't know what the timers were for, or if there was a penalty for touching a stone while sweeping. Thanks for the clear explanations.
You're welcome Ed, I'm glad you found this video helpful in learning Curling. Enjoy your tournament!
Very helpful, very informative. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this video. Very helpful!
Thank you !! Great sport for both men and women .
Thanks bro, much appreciated!
I'm actually very interested now. Thank you

If you find it interesting and have a curling club nearby, they sometimes have events for people to try the sport. I recommend it, I've played it for years.
Ninh, I absolutely love all your videos! I've spent a good 2 hours just viewing them all. Subbed !
+Brian Bautista Thanks Brian. I appreciate the comments! I'm glad you like my videos. I've had to lay off making them recently due to my new day job, but I shall be back making them soon! Thanks for subscribing :)
Thank you for sharing this!
Nice video. Most stones are actually 42 pounds, but must be between 38 and 44 pounds, due to the variations in granite. Most of the granite comes from Ailsa Craig, an island off the coast of Scotland. Thanks again for the video.
Thanks man, I appreciate it!
COOL, thank you. So the rings of the "house" are basically to show the distance from the "button". Unlike shuffle board or archery, there is no point difference based on which ring the stone comes to rest in.
Correct! The rings are there to judge the distance from the middle of the button - they don't award different levels of points. Glad this helps you understand Curling!
Ever play Crokinole? It scores the same way.
Thank you. I was looking for a summary, very concise.
Got my partner watching for the first time at Beijing and this totally helped us both to understand the rules!
Yay Denmark is in the video, and as a true annoying Dane on the internet I have to write it in the comments :)
Troels V :)
LOL!

Anyone ever notice how attractive all the women's curling team members are? I hear the Russian women's Olympic team has their own calendar
Yes, I've noticed that Curling girls are quite pretty.
I didn't know that about Russian women's ... might have to check that out.
Thanks for stopping by.
There's alot of attractive female curlers
Anna Sidorova is an actual Russian model
Oh jeez. Eve Muirhead. Wowsa
yes, curling girls are very pretty
and highly talented, too
Thanks! I needed that explanation!
Thank you Ninh for another informative video.
Anytime bro!
this music tho
Yeah in hindsight, not my best choice in music.
It's good but I'm still confused on curling.
I suggest watching a few games and the rules in this video will become clear.
very nice video, clear in all aspects. thanks!
I was hooked on curling ever since I first saw it as a middle-schooler. We bought the table top stones, and used rocks to play outside. Only in my adulthood was I able to play for real. It's such a joy to watch and play. And I appreciate the camaraderie and sportsmanship--something that's not evident in a number of mainstream sports.
Is it true the North Korean curling team has to swim with their stones if they don't win a medal?
I don't think so, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was actually true.
Does north korea even have a curling team?
@@konepe1653 You may as well be saying the Maltese kabaddi team :D
curling is Scottish?! dude its huge here in canada. i always thought it was canadian. we have the scotties tournament of hearts. scotties as in the toilet paper company
Curling is definitely 100% Scottish! The fact that Scotties sponsor the Tournament of Hearts is purely coincidental!
There is evidence of curling roots in Germany prior to its beginning in Scotland. Scotland does get credit for getting it going and creating the rules of the game.
I'm thinking Bradley is one of those Canadians who watches the Scotties and Brier, but has never curled himself.
I've been curling a few times as its very popular here in NWO. i'm definitely not good at it, and yes i love watching curling
Scots are big into rocks: lifting 'em, throwing 'em, sliding 'em on the ice.
bcubed72 don't forget the caber toss! Basically throwing a telephone pole!
Thank you for explaining this so well. It was fun to watch and informative!
Thanks Emily, glad you found this video helpful! Be sure to check out my channel for more like this.
Fascinating! Many thanx.
You missed the Free Gaurd Zone
They are pretty good looking. But let's admit it, there no way anyone can please them in the bedroom given how accurate they are with that sweeping and rock placement.
I'm not sure about that?!
If something isnt right, im sure they could holler enough to get what they want. HARDER....LEFT.......RIGHT....STOP!!! LOL
Definitely summed it up for me.. good looks bro💯
Excellent video, cheers!
How is there an injury in this 😂😂
Ummm, slip and fall on the ice?! Pulled muscles?
The 5th player very rarely actually enters any games however they are allowed to replace anyone at the end of any end. They often end up reading each of the rocks on the ice as no two rocks will act exactly the same.
Headache every time you lose
a k Falling on the ice. It doesn't always result in injury, but if you fall in front of a moving rock or onto a rock, then it can cause problems.
The only curling injuries I've ever seen have been a result of falling on a rock or falling and hitting their head on the boards. Or do what I did when I was 5 and get your thumb crushed between a rock and the boards :(
Why is this an Olympic sport ?
Cos it's awesome!
Why is anything an Olympic sport?
If you've ever watched olympic-level table tennis (or badminton--!!), you wouldn't ask that again. 99.9% of us would be run *ragged* in two minutes. Not to mention topspin, backspin...
mescko Exactly. It requires physical effort and is highly competitive. The same could be said for curling. While curling doesn't require nearly as much physical effort as other sports, sweeping can actually be draining.
Curling is far from being the most ridiculous sport at an Olympic tournament.
Table tennis, poodle shearing, mountaineering, walking, poetry, painting, chess and body building, et cetera. Don't even get me started with these childish runs they keep inventing for snowboarders every 'Games.
Thanks! I watch this and now I you Dees talk d some basics. Appreciate your video!
Your explanation is very great! And much appreciated. I was interested in understand better and now feel informed! Great work and great explanation!!!
Thanks, glad you like the video :)
Are all curling chics this cute? like geez
Some of them are pretty cute, yes.
Look up Russian Curler Calendar, if you wanna see how sexy Curling got recently ...
When it comes to cute it is tough to beat Team Fujisawa from Japan.

Ninh Ly How do they prepare the ice? For hockey and ice skating, they use a special machine (zamboni) to make the ice smooth.. but curling, use rough ice, with water droplets. Is there a special machine for that?
Thanks for reminding me how Cool curling is! Great sport!
Trying to understand this in 2020, loved the video
