it's like photogrammetry level detail
🙌
Great as always!
I love this! Seeing the process especially in accelerated time and all the fine-tuning and finding the right dimensions and look & feel.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it 😄
Your vids are top tier! I love having your videos on while I model!
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoy them 😁
Nice boat
Another great video! Thanks for this one
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment :)
love your work
Thank you! :D
Nice skill. Thank you.
Thanks! And no problem 😄
The best 3d videos 👌
🙌
thank you so much bro i was searching for this kind of video thanks a lot
No problem! I'm glad you found it helpful.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! 😃🙌
Thank you sir it's really helpful
No problem man, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
You were amazing sir
Thank you! :D
Best explain brother
Wow your tutorial so amazing men
good job
Thanks!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
I would like to see how you made the renders.
But wooooow, it's an amazing job. I learning too much, thank u❤️
Thank you man! Appreciate the comment. Glad you enjoyed the video! There will definitely be more rendering-based tutorials down the road :)
hey man enjoying the video and just getting into maya after using 3DS max for the last 3 years, so this video is really helping me learn it. but the first issue I've ran into is at 8:48, I use the same duplication settings but it doesn't duplicate in the same way
Thanks man, I'm happy you're finding it helpful. Try freezing transformations before duplicating the object (modify>freeze transformations). Also, I duplicated it along the Z axis because my object was facing that way (by changing it to -1 in Z scale), but check your models orientation, it may just be facing the other way so you might have to duplicate it along the X axis instead. Try them out and let me know!
@@polyrendr thanks it’s fixed now! Keep up the great content dude!
I have a simple addition , If you can explain the uv mapping part, it's going to be a complete educational content so I'm really learning from your channel❤️
I'm glad you're finding the videos helpful :) I will definitely be showing/explaining more of the UV mapping process in future videos, so stay tuned! Maybe even a UV mapping tutorial..
Helpful ! Can you also share reference images of the objects ?
Would be a great help if you could add hot keys as well
Hello, Polyrendr, I love your videos, they are a great resource. I like your workflow. I have a question, a boat like this, how many days did it take for you to complete modeling from start to finish and then also to complete texturing. I would like to know what is a reasonable time for a junior/entry level 3d artist to complete a project like this?
Hello and thank you! I'm happy to hear you're finding the videos helpful. I wouldn't worry too much about time, especially if you're entry level. Just focus on making art and learning the tools, even starting with a smaller asset might help if you're new to the software or 3D in general. That being said, if I were completely new to it I personally wouldn't spend over a month on it. I always found it easier creating smaller assets while learning. Just keep up the practice!
Hi @Polyrendr! I just started learning Modelling. Thank you for the helpful video, and I do have a question. What did you do to make the polygon smooth at 5:12? Thanks again!
Hey! Thank you, I'm glad you found it helpful.
I pressed 3 on my keyboard. It previews the mesh smoothed, but just remember once you're happy with the shape, you will have to convert the smoothed preview to a smoothed polygon mesh. You can do that by going up to Mesh > Smooth.
@@polyrendr Thank you so much for your quick response! I will try that. I also will check your other videos. Thank you once again!
Hey love your work and love the quality that you do them too. I do have a question and is that how long does it take to actual make the props that you do without the timelapse/speed up you do in the videos @Polyrendr anyways keep up the good work
Thanks! I really appreciate it :) Every model varies but with every model on my channel I try to aim for around 2 hours modeling, 1 hour UV mapping, and 1-2 hours texturing. Thanks again for all the support! 🙌
@@polyrendr Thankyou honestly love your work so far gives me motivation to do my own work and get better. And thanks I always wondered how long it would take to do it. Keep up the good work absolutely love your stuff
@@kenandutchman161 Thanks man that means a lot! Keep it up, the practice never ends! 😅
@@polyrendr no problem and ain't that the truth
dude, at 7:51 i recommend you to use the duplicate face tool to create that shape, that will be much faster
You could do that, but I'm pretty sure it would be an extra step having to bridge or re-attach that face afterwards.
does the opacity material of the net can be exported to be imported in any engine or blender?
Hi @Polyrendr, I am a student currently learning 3D Modelling. I still do not understand about UV Unwrapping after watching several tutorials on CZcams. I come across your video as I saw after you are done modelling, you will show your UVs. Please include your uv unwrapping demo as well instead of showing your completed UV unwrapped. It will definitely help me a lot! Thanks again!
you know those old paper toys that you have to fold a certain way to create the proper shape? UV unwrapping is essentially the same, but backwards. you take the topology of your model and make essentially cuts that allow textures to be placed on it. you make these "cuts" and create "islands" of different parts on your model. programs like substance painter essentially act as a 3d photoshop, referencing your UV tile as an image, which is reprojected around the model. theres much more in depth info for it, such as face stretching and procedure, normals, and UDIMs, and so on, but thats the basic idea. hope this helps
I will definitely be showing more of the UV mapping process in future videos. I do however record my process UVing in some of my other videos, here is one that you might find helpful. I also have a few others so I hope you find the helpful! czcams.com/video/ek0VxscVty8/video.html
@@jett3d thanks for the info!
@@polyrendr omg thanks! This is what I’m looking for!
@@joshualim8000 Awesome, I'm glad you found it helpful! :) Lots more to come!
I love what you do, I'm studying to be a 3D modeler and I have a question. My teachers constantly remind me not to leave triangles or polygons with more than 4 sides, in your case, do you correct them? thank you so much for showing us your amazing work
Thanks so much! Yes your teacher is right, however triangles are totally okay and in certain situations it actually makes more sense to use them, but ideally you want everything in quads, never more than 4 sides though.
I personally don't worry about topology while I make the main shapes and block things out - it allows me to work more freely and then when I do the Uv's I always clean things up - once again always aiming to have everything in quads. This workflow works for me but as a beginner its good advice to try to keep topology clean along the way so you don't dig yourself a huge hole and have to spend a ton of time fixing the mesh.
@@polyrendr Indeed, I find your way of creating models more fluid and rewarding. Sometimes creating loops in the entire model all the time and discarding ideas because of the excess polygons that I am going to put in the mesh, makes me a little desperate haha. Thank you very much for being attentive to help us! You already have another faithful follower
I like your videos very much. Just one question. Why do you only use the high polygon model? I see that in your videos you don't do the low poly version. If you could tell me a little bit about this I would really appreciate it.
Thanks! Yeah I usually only make one model to save time on the videos, I always try to change it up, some HP, some LP, most of them don't really need a HP/LP workflow because they are only used for the channel. However I will most likely make more like that down the road! 😃
@@polyrendr hehe very nice dude. I agree. For portfolio and presentations the high models work perfectly but if we are going to use them for games we have to optimize. Although Enginers are getting more and more advanced and can receive high-poly objects like Nanite Technology, optimization is always necessary.
Hi, thanks for the video! Сan you please explain how you fix the problem on the back of the boat after smooth 7:11?
No problem! and I just deleted the faces on the end.
please add a keyboard reflection in the next videos
I am enjoying your work
Please can you teach me ???
Thanks man! Lots more videos and tutorials to come :) Check out my Patreon page as well, more content available there, along with real-time videos, working file downloads and live streams!
what is the way you export the model? like you make the models as three group and select the model hit export or you combine model without clean history?
Yes I separated it into groups for the video and then exported the model as an FBX. I remove all history, center pivots and freeze transforms while doing all the UV mapping so when I export everything is ready to go. However in most cases I would combine the objects before exporting, in this case I didn't.
@@polyrendr cool bro, the whole video process are really clear, and well done for everything you did, keep followling CHEERs.🖖👍
I tried searching for the Substance Source website, but I couldn’t find it. Where do you recommend getting materials from?
The same stuff exists, Adobe just moved it all. You can find it here substance3d.adobe.com/assets
Hi, from where and how are you generating your ideas to model? I want to model daily but i cant find objects to mode.
I mostly find my inspiration online, usually from Art station or Pinterest, or anywhere on google. I just keep looking around until I see something that catches my eye or looks like fun to re-create. You can even model objects around you, the possibilities are really endless! I recommend choosing small objects, so you can keep creating stuff rather than working on one thing for weeks or months.
@@polyrendr Thank you for the advises
can i knw how you got multiple layer of Uv in your substance painter?
They each have their own texture assigned to them.
poly count?
Sorry, why u didn`t unite all objects of boat, why left it like separate?
It wasn't being used in anything like a videogame, I just made it for my YT channel so I kept them separate. However if it were going into a game engine you should definitely combine objects - I think I quickly went over this in the video :)
51:26 which uv method is used here is that automatic uv map
I did them manually, I was just showing the UV here in the video. I used the 3D cut and sow UV tool to make cuts on the model and then unfold and layed them out in the UV editor.
@@polyrendr bro i have doubt about uv mapping which is the uv mapping method we can use to unwrao complex objects or all kind of 3d model.
Could tell me to use this uv method which sitution 👇
1. Planar mapping
2. Uv mapping
3 Camera based
4 Cylindrical mapling
5 spherical mapping
They are all situational depending on the shape/model. However 99% of the time I start with a Camera based projection to remove all the UV cuts, and I use the 3D Cut and Sow UV Tool to make cuts wherever I need them on the object. Then Unfold and lay it out in the UV editor.
I do this in almost every video here on YT. @@irfanirz9588 👍
I wanted to subscribe to patreon.
But I wanted to know if I can unsubscribe whenever I want?
Yes absolutely! You can unsubscribe at any time :)
i would lıke to blue and white also but you've already taken them😅 my colours are #fceed4 #a32638
i dont see my cloth in substance painter
Do you mean its not showing transparent or you cant see the material on the mesh?
Bro please don't time lapse
There are viewed who want to learn from your videos
Kindly do make tutorials please
I will be making slower, more tutorial-based videos down the road, so stay tuned!

Fantastic tutorial but painful to watch because of the unnecessary, horrible, loud, Muzak soundtrack. It adds nothing and forced me to have to constantly adjust the volume slider in between instructions.
Sorry to hear that man, I know music isn’t for everyone but it helps a lot of people work and stay focused, including myself, that’s why it’s there. Otherwise it would be complete silence. The audio levels seems fine but I’ll keep an eye on them more for future videos! 🎵Thanks for letting me know!
@@polyrendr No problem. I'm a music producer as well as a graphic artist and that kind of thing has the opposite effect on me, because I'm listening to the music instead of concentrating on your talent in the 3d graphics department. To bad they don't a mute button for some of us. Keep up the great work!
@@nullobject001 Thanks, and I appreciate you letting me know, I'll keep it in mind going forward :)
Doesn’t really teach well. Too fast, the music is terrible. I’m sorry just being honest.
Its all good, I appreciate the feedback. I know it can be a little too fast for beginners, but you can also get access to real-time videos on my Patreon :)
Way too fast glossing over points I unsubscribed
Sad to see you go! Full real time videos are available on my Patreon page.
Do it in blender
Maya is more fun 😉
