  • Vic concludes his trip to the DC/Maryland area with a visit to Jon Brager, an original practitioner of the elusive Moonshine Method. Jon's 200 Gallon tank is one of the best examples of this method we have ever seen. Like a scientist in a mad lab, Jon has carefully dosed over 40 elements into his tank, achieving a delicate balance that mesmerizes onlookers. Is it overkill, or is it one of the best tanks we have ever encountered? The sheer complexity and vibrant health of the tank suggest it might be the latter.

    People spend thousands on the tank and coral and then freak when they see that someone adds 10 small doses of elements daily. 😂
    Another win for Moonshiner Method. Only problem is how fast the corals grow.

    They say old habits die hard, there’s too many old school reefers saying it’s impossible to start a successful reef tank with dry rock. Love seeing a video like this to prove them wrong. I too have started a new tank with dry rock and couldn’t disagree more with their silly hypothesis.

    • @WorldWideCorals
      @WorldWideCorals  Před 2 měsíci +3

      Most of our display tanks(almost all of them) were set up with dry rock. It may take a little longer to stabilize, but we have no issues with it.

    Beautiful corals. Have been working on similar stuff with reef blue print less powders to mix. Just sent out for ms icp tests so i can check si f lithium and sulfur better. Belive fluoride is a key trace element. Have heard there are ratios between fluoride nickel and iodine😊

      This isn't a particularly fair representation though. He's been in the hobby 7 years and had a previous tank. He didn't grow all those corals in 8 months most of them will have come out of his old tank along with some of the rock. It's not all down to additives and you don't need them to achieve this.
