  • In this episode I unbox and give a little test to the Greenworks Twin Force electric 40v mower. How will this mower hold up? I guess you'll have to watch and find out!

    I bought that mower several years ago.
    I’m not a pro but my long term review is very positive. The batteries are awesome, I have not needed to change one yet even after accidentally overcharging a few times. I wish all the other companies had batteries like these.
    I have a small yard (1/4 acre) and all I can say is that I’m very happy with it. Clean, quiet and maintenance free.
    Yes, it uses one battery at a time. If you’re doing a large yard you can keep one charging while you use the other one.

    I bought mine about 3 years ago. I love it, no oil or gas to fuss with, lightweight. I have a small yard but when the grass is thick or tall I have to go over it twice and I ordered an extra battery to get through the whole yard. My only complaint is now it is making a funny honking noise and good luck finding someone who repairs an electric mower.

    I recently purchased one of these EXACT mowers, from Amazon, based upon your review. I live in a manufactured house community, aka trailer park. My gas mower took a puke on me and I'm over it. Too much maintenance. I like electric mowers, but don't want to risk running over the extension cord. So, a battery powered mower is the logical choice. Heck, even my husband is excited to use it. Although, he decided that since I bought it, I get to break in the new toy. Woot! Thanks for being so thorough in your review. Due to your video, I'm sure I made the right choice.

    The Rona virus got me watching lawnmower videos. Can confirm it uses one battery at a time. I have a small/medium size lawn and I essentially used 1 battery to cut the front and back yard. RPMs don't drop the same way a gas mower does. I hate cutting grass, but this made it way more ok.

  • @Marmocet
    @Marmocet Před 5 lety +1

    With these low powered battery electric mowers, in terms of getting them to give a good cut without leaving clumps, compared to gas powered mowers it's probably more important to obey the "one third" rule, where you're not taking off more than a third of the grass height per mowing. That way you aren't biting off more than the mower can chew. Following that rule means you might have to be mowing your lawn a bit more frequently, but on the plus side, it's better for the grass to be mowed so that you're only ever cutting the tips of its blades off.

    • @ExperimentalLawn
      @ExperimentalLawn  Před 6 lety

      You're right! I cut it at 2" just to really show you the cut. I wanted to see if this mower would mulch something overgrown or not. As you can see it doesn't preform that great in the mulching department.

  • @robertsanden1347
    @robertsanden1347 Před 6 lety

    Your grass looks very thick and nice, I'm jealous. I was wondering what the length of the grass was before the cut. I had a Ryobi 40V 20" and it just sucked for thick lawns and 10K sq ft lawn. Mulching was garbage on that too. It's like the battery mowers (maybe not the Ego, not sure) don't have the power to keep the blades suspended for multiple cuts? Or quality of cutting blade is just not there?

    • @ExperimentalLawn
      @ExperimentalLawn  Před 6 lety

    I have this mower and now I wanna sell it. It works OK in summer and fall but does not work very well in Spring. First, if the grass is thick or long or wet, this mower will slow down even struck, it lacks of power. Second, battery will drain very quickly when it is in heavy-duty. My yard is less than 0.15 acre and I can't finish mowing with 2 batteries in spring. The worse part is that battery can't be charged immediately after it is just used. I guess it is a battery protection feature but I just hate it. I have to wait about 1 hr until battery cool down before charging it. A new battery is expensive. Thus, sometimes I have to finish mowing in two separate days, which is painful. So I don't recommend this product.

    I bought one in 2012, serial number GWR3641250. After buying it and using it for 2 to 3 years I had to write the company saying that I needed new 4 wheels already because the wheel axle holes were becoming enlarged with use, making the wheels wobble. The company sent me 4 free new wheels. It's 8/8/2020 now and I need 4 more new wheels again (the 3rd set) for the same reason. It's April 12, 2021, and I tried to shim the wheels with tin can metal, but no luck,. I went to LOWES where I bought the mower, but lo and behold, they don't have any Greenworks mowers on the shelf, although there are others of different brands. It looks like I am going to buy the 4 wheels by mail order. If I knew I'd be buying 4 new wheels (the second set) I wouldn't have bought this mower. In 2 years, I will probably need another set. At this point, I will be buying a new lawnmower of a different brand; this one is going in the trash in 2 years. Was told by an employee that LOWES doesn't sell Greenworks anymore. Any comments Experimental Lawn?
