  • Survival rates for patients being treated for Mantle Cell Lymphoma, a rare type of cancer, at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, are greater than anywhere else in the country, thanks to a specialist team providing early access to drugs and emerging treatments through clinical trials.
Margaret Sandey, from Plymouth, was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma in 2008 and is incredibly grateful to the Haematology team at Derriford Hospital for her treatment.
Jonathan ('Jonty') White, another patient from Salcombe, is feeling very positive about the future, thanks to treatment he has received at Derriford Hospital.
Together they share their experiences, from diagnosis to now, and what it is like to be involved in a clinical trial.

Margaret said she was incredibly grateful to Simon and his team. That is an understatement.
We truly owe them her life. I know because I am her husband.
