- Here is the latest from Astrolux with their ST01 flashlight. This is sporting the Luminus SST-40 LED. This has a very nice and impressive combination beam performance. This is compact enough for EDC. This also uses the USB Type C charging system for quicker charge times. Use only good quality 21700 cells for best performance and runtimes. The two user groups makes this easy to have or not to have special modes in the UI. You can always count on AstroLux for quality but not high prices. I've had a my st01 5000k and got the 6500k back order! Best torch I've ever had! On offer from banggood too at £18! Battery is a 21700 28a 4500mah astrolux! Also been using a 30a 4000mah from a local vape shop! Thanks for the review! Luv this torch!

Dear Charles, this Astrolux ST01 has great throw for a tube light. You can somewhat make out the thing at the end of your treeline - fenceline. I gauge the throw of your torches review by seeing how well that “thing” at the end of the “treeline - fenceline” shows up, if at all. 👍🤗💎

EC01 has been out over a year, it's superb and about $25 on flash deal!
@@MrSimonj1970 correct! But I like the ST01 more cause it has a clip and just Abit easier to carry. The ec01 will always have a place in my heart

I see the box describes that this light might also be available with XHP 50.2. I am curious if the light is available with the XHP 50.2 as well as SST 40?

All the recent lights from them have been both choices - EC01, EC03, EA01 etc, so probably.
@@MrSimonj1970 Yes, already researched, this light is available with XHP 50.2 also. I will purchase the XHP 50.2 option as I want a more floody beam profile with this light option.
@@jackanapes6676 I've got the EC 01 in XHP50 5k, it's very nice, but has a bad green tint. SST 40 is much nicer coloured beam for me, but you don't notice it outdoors, only on a white wall. It certainly puts out a lot of light, with a huge hotspot. Hope yours is equally fun.
@@MrSimonj1970 Yes, I'm noticing many of these emitters are very salty when it comes to proper tint. I absolutely can NOT stand the 6500 K SST 40, as the tint in lower modes is a horrid greenish/ pea soup tint. The 5000K SST 40 is more to my liking. The XHP 50.2 in 5700K seems to have an awful greenish tint to me also, so usually I find that I either go for the 6500K, or 5000K if available for XHP 50.2 if available and I just accept the tint will not be the greatest on them, however the output that some of these emitters give is amazing, so I try not to nit-pick too much and just try to appreciate them for how they are to the best of my tolerance. Nice review mate! I want your advice.. I will put that flashlight on top of a drone (because it's only 170gr with battery) for search and rescue.. I want to tell me which chip do you recommend?? SST40 (5000K) or XP50. 2(6500K)??
The throwing distance it will be from 60m high in angle of 70 degrees and 175metres distance.. Can you give me an advice? Also i wonder if in high mode can rich that because on turbo mode steps down (i don't know in how many lux)!

Drone footage would be cool! The Luminus SST40 will throw farther but for dedicated throwers I recommend cool white or the 5000k. Thanks for watching!

@@I.Sam35 About 900 to 1100 lumens it will drop to. Turbo is about 10 seconds if I remember correctly.

SSt40 version have about 2300 lumens. Single sst40 LED can't reach 3500lm. This amount of lumens are in Xhp50.2 version. Regards :)

Hi Charles, It's not 3500 Lumens, you have the SST40 which is 2300 lumens, the XHP50.2 version is 3500 Lumens. They gave you the Wrong user manual. I'm getting both the sst40 & the xhp50.2 versions of this light, just thought ide let you know.. 👍
