The Hindi action movie KILL is something special. Full bore action with more knife kills than a fishing tornament.
Driving to see it I talk about the philosophy of action cinema. Driving home I review the movie.

Having grown up and lived in the northeastern US for all my life, I'm used to the weather. Hot and humid summers, snowy winters (that's starting to go away), pretty autumns with tons of leaves, pleasant but rainy springs. When I visit Florida or Nevada, can't stand not having the true 4 seasons. You're on an India kick right now. Sounds like a great film. Suburban driving kind of looks the same no matter where you are.
It does. I have some plans to take the driving out to more interesting places in future.
Ned and Janet stopping by Mr Terry and thanks for taking us for a ride around town with a sweet movie chat to boot. Kill sounds amazing but don't know if it's for us, you never know though...We've been big fans of Indian films for a long time. Many by Satyajit Ray and films like Pyassa by Guru Dut but also the many pop musicals from the 1960s and 1970s. Some of them have action, crime and horror themes too.
Hi Ned and Janet. Kill is very extreme but also very well made. If you're sensitive, however, it might not be your jam.
@@terrytalksmovies I may take a dive in but Janet probably won't. That being said she was cool with Requiem For A Dream and some gnarly n gruesome Italian shockers. So cool that you can see great new Indian films in a nice theater.
Terry's commentaries are always a delight to listen to!
Thanks! They're also a lot of fun to do.
Interesting times indeed but with a glimmer of hope here and there - thanks for pointing that out. ❤ Your videos and my lunch break are also a perfect match. I always watch them over a cup of coffee while at work.
This one looks really promising. I enjoyed Monkey Man quite a bit, also set in India and starring Dev Patel. Very artistic, rich with social/political commentary, uniquely diverse and It also seems to utilize a very similar formula. Strongly recommended. 🙂
There's a thread of Indian cinema which is coming down hard to smash and criticise the class system and caste system there. It's a powerful meme in 2020s film there.
@@terrytalksmovies That is great news. I've always been fascinated with India and glad to see it's people stand up to the increasingly oppressive regime. Surely, the impact of art cannot be overestimated in that context.
I heard Ebola soup in winter. Many films from other countries are interesting in their philosophy and style. Changing up your format good.
Thanks. I was running short of time to record and edit the video and I had all that wasted time driving around, so I merged the two together.
Terry! Are you driving on the wrong side of the road??!! For fall back guilty pleasure films, I found a copy of "Speed Racer" at the Library Sale for a dollar US. Hmmm... "Amrit and the Forty Thieves." Sounds interesting. (The driving around video is fun. Somehow, all Western "inspired" urban agglomerations look similar. Except for the street direction switch, that could be an urban scene here in the North American Deep South.) Stay safe and comfy.
No, most of the world drives on the wrong side of the road. Fortunately, very few people do here. 😉😀
I checked out a long trailer and reviews on IMDB, RT and Letterboxd. Overall, it’s definitely worth checking out. A one man army with an Indian twist popularized lately by the great John Wick series. Other such recent movies were Monkey Man and The Beekeeper. One very good and another not so good (lousy script after a great start). Personally, the best such movies are the Korean Oldboy (superb) and The Professional (excellent). Oh, yes and The Raid. Perhaps a double-header day with Kill and Kalki 2898 AD. Right now, Despicable Me 4 and Inside Out 2 have invaded all theater show times. It’s Summer and Kids but good for the industry since the first half of 2024 was disastrous.
Yeah we're getting the kiddie movies here a lot but I'm glad my local multiplexes are deeply multicultural and show Indian and other Asian cinema.
There's already an American remake on the way, you'll be delighted to know. Coming from the people behind John Wick, funnily enough.
Chad Stahelski, the director of John Wick is working on a Highlander remake with Henry Cavill. Looks good. Cavill can act, Christophe Lambert couldn't.
@@terrytalksmovies Christopher Lambert couldn't speak English when showed up on the set of the first Highlander. I give him credit for that !
Gotta be honest, watching you drive as you talk makes me nervous. It is not a format I love 🙂But the movie sounds great
It's all good. It's no more difficult than chatting with a passenger or using the phone hands-free as I drive. The trick is not to look at the camera more than about 2% of the time.
Kill killed it! I had a blast
It escalates brilliantly.
@@terrytalksmovies Yes it does. I won't do spoilers in the comments but DAMN... I know you know what I mean
Bound is a good Wachowski Bros. movie in which two gay women outsmart some nasty male gangsters. Not action packed like Die Hard but certainly tense and violent.
Good point. Thanks for the reminder.
@@terrytalksmoviesNo problem. I haven't watched it in several years. A movie that hasn't gained the following it deserves.
