2020 UCWDC Worlds 28 Team Champions
THE MIDNIGHT COWBOYS
The Midnight Cowboys were originally formed in the mid-90's under the direction of Phil Adams and SwingTime Dance Studio in Bellflower, CA (Southern California) and went on to win three UCWDC Championships.
In May of 2019, some members of the original team reunited, added new members to their ranks, resurrected one of their award winning routines and performed it at the last and final FreZno Dance Classic to honor and pay homage to event director Steve Zener, under the direction of Michele Adams.
The FreZno performance was such a hit and crowd response was so great, the team decided to continue and return to the competition floor at the UCWDC Worlds Champions in January of 2020 in Nashville, TN - and promptly won their 4th Worlds Championship.
After winning their team division on Thursday, Jan 2, 2020, the team was asked to do an encore performance as part of the Friday evening show. This video is from that encore performance.

Great job! Happy retirement Steve - icon of the country dance industry- cheers!
I used to dance in that Belflower Studio and remember Phil and Michele Adams. How fun.
The old studio above the pool hall??? Oh, yes!! I was there, too!! :)
@@trishconnerywalkup9056 did you used to compete Champions level? Remember Dennis Rose? He was my pro partner for pro-am. Good times
@@1105pitbull Yes, of course, I know/remember Denise. He was always one of my favorite dance partners in WCS/Hustle from way back in the day, circa late 1990's, early 2000's or thereabouts. In fact, when the Midnight Cowboys reformed in 2019, he was my partner on the team for one of our bigger performances leading up to Worlds (the last FreZno in 2019). I always love seeing and Dancing with Dennis. :)❤
@trishconnerywalkup9056 just the nicest guy. His dance partner was Katherine something??
@@1105pitbull If I recall correctly, he had different partners for different dances/circuits. His orig partner for Cowboys, and who he danced with on the team at Worlds in 2020, was Jana. His WCS partner was Colleen.
You two are AUSOME!!!!

❤i enjoyed the act❤❤😂
Camera too far away to enjoy.
Thanks for the feedback - unfortunately, we had zero control over how the cameras were placed in the ballroom. Since Worlds is a week-long event and the videographer records everything - all competitions, all divisions, all performances - the camera has to be placed in the most viable position, to capture as much as possible - so it's in a fixed position. I hope you were still able to enjoy it. 🙂
What is that terrible buzz?
Yes, that hiss is kind of annoying, isn't it? As far as I can tell it was a direct result of how the AV company - hired to record the event - ran their line-in to their control boards for the recording. They obviously had a direct feed from the MC's mic and a separate direct feed for the performance music, but unfortunately, there was no feed from the room itself. You can't hear the audience participation, you can't hear the audience clapping and cheering...just that hiss instead. Maybe the AV company sought to eliminate ambient background noise from the room - it was a HUGE ballroom - but it didn't work out the way they intended. I hope you are still able to enjoy the routine.
