  • Is Toronto The Next New York?
Toronto is becoming the next New York!
But why? And what Toronto skyscrapers could we expect to see?
The short answer is that the price and scarcity of land available in downtown Toronto make it a very attractive location for constructing skyscrapers. But is it all good?

@@jeanbolduc5818 Not true. Even though Toronto has seen a rise in gun violence in recent years, the city is still safe overall and most residents go about their daily lives without incidents despite the uptick in crime. Comparing the safety of cities can be subjective and complex as it depends on various factors such as population size, location, and crime statistics. That being said, Toronto's overall safety level is actually similar to other major cities in developed countries around the world. Some cities may have lower crime rates in certain areas, while others may have higher crime rates in different areas. However, Toronto is still still relatively safe if you compare crime stats with other major cities around the world. This is just a fact whether you like it or not. Also, my experience has been great so far. I have been living here for 5 years and I never had an issue. Maybe your experience was different. All the best!

Three groups of people who are clearly triggered by this video.
    1. New Yorkers: who think they live in the "best city in the world", only to realize New York doesn't even make the top 20 most livable cities in the world. Meanwhile Toronto and Tokyo are the only major cities that constantly make the top 10.
    2. Chicago: Understandable since Toronto overtook Chicago to become the 4th most populated city on the continent after Mexico City, New York and Los Angeles. Go to downtown Toronto and go to downtown Chicago and you'll clearly see a difference. In Toronto you're more at risk of getting attacked by a raccoon. In Chicago, you'll be lucky if you get out of downtown without getting shot at.
    3. Montreal: A city that was once the largest in Canada, but was overtaken by Toronto in the 1970s and hasn't looked back since. They left Montreal in the dust and some still haven't come to terms with it.

Saying diversity and culture is not unique in Toronto comes off as weird since most people in Toronto know what its like to live in all kinds of metropolises around the world and can testify that Toronto is unique and full of culture. Toronto has nothing in commun with New York ... no identity ( fake Times square , CN Tower is not unique in the world) , no central park , not an island, poor art and poor history and culture, not a walkable city you need a car since Toronto decided to include cities more than 70 miles away like Niagara , Hamilton etc in their city ... No other Canadian or USA cities do that.
Montreal has more in commun with New York .. Canadian capital of culture , built on an island , with a central park ( same architecture ) , best food and the highest number of restaurants after new York , arts are everywhere . It's factually untrue that Toronto includes places 70 mi. away. The Greater Toronto Area stops well short of Hamilton at ~35 miles from downtown. The built-up area extends continuously to Hamilton but Hamilton is a city in its own right with its own orbit. Absolutely no one speaks of 'Toronto-Hamilton' except for mass transit planners and other such specialists.
And actually, yes, the US does do such things. The Census Bureau has a designation of Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical Area (CMSA) by which D.C. includes Baltimore, Boston includes Providence, RI, etc. The Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington CMSA (11 counties (!)), is an astounding 8.7k sq mi., or about 95 x 95 mi. for 7.9m people. (Greater Toronto Area: 2.75k sq mi, 7.0m people. There has been an absolutely insane tidal wave of new residents in 2022-23, close to 400k people.)
Also, Toronto is walkable. You can live without a car just as in NYC, i.e., in the densest parts but not everywhere.
Finally, you wouldn't happen to be a Montrealer, would you?
