    A heads up for soldering through hole, The best technique I've used/Found was to:
    Place iron tip on the components, Then run your solder wire from the tip of the iron onto the components, then pull the solder away then the iron.
    The process takes less than two seconds, keeps beginners from overheating parts, and also provides an extremely clean joint.

    i desoldered/soldered new switches into my one 2 mini for the first time and it didnt go exactly as planned. when i was desoldering, for a few switches they would get stuck and wouldnt come out and i had to use pliers to get the switches out (mx browns lmao i threw them away anyways) and there was this like copper ring around the pin of the switch. when i soldered it back together i only had 4 keys that didnt work and one was the pin with the copper ring around the pni... im guessing it was the contact point which actuates the switch :( is there any way to fix this? i recovered the rings that got pulled out from the switches

    thanks for this tutorial, question : the iron touches the pad and pin at the same, but how about the solder wire itself? I can't really tell as its zoomed in, are you touching the solder to the pad and pin too or the solder to the iron?(3:09)

    • @JoeGaz
      @JoeGaz  Před 3 lety +1

      A bit of both. You want the solder to go on the pin and pad when it is heated enough to melt the solder you see (and the flux). But if it doesn't (yet due to heating the parts) you can just put it on the soldering iron and it will naturally flow into the pad/pin. A little of both helps.
