- Hey! Welcome to HOWZA channel! In today's tutorial, we will teach you how to change the default font in LibreOffice Writer.
The following instructions will show you how to change the default font and font size in LibreOffice so that the new custom font will be used every time you open a new document.
It is very easy to change the default font and font size in LibreOffice Writer.
Open LibreOffice file that you need.
Click on Tools and choose Options from the list. A new window will open.
Click on LibreOffice Writer on the left side list. Scroll down and look for Basic fonts (Western). Go to the right-side of the window. Go to Default option. Click on the drop-down list and choose the font that you want. Go to Size. Click on the drop-down list and choose the size that you want. Click on Apply and Ok to save the changes. - Věda a technologie
I don't think the option to set a default font is as straightforward as Word but this worked for me - thanks.
worked great, thanks!
Thank you it worked.
Perfect! Worked like a charm! I tried it first on document I was working on and it didn't work. Then I closed that and opened a new writer document, and then it worked. I was very happy! Thanks!
Thank you very much. That solved my problem.
I'd like to know how to do this in calc please, and for tables.
When I paste some text from docx it becomes the Calibri font even if it was Times New Roman when I copied it. How can I fix this?
Options does not appear in the list which opens after clicking on Tools.
Click in a document and press Alt+F12.
The font I choose does not save. It goes back to the internet default.
The follow steps need to be added to these instructions to make them correct. After you set the font in your document, go to "File." Select "Templates." Select "Save as Template." Select "My Templates" from the dropdown list. Then enter a name for your new template. I called mine "Standard." Click the box that says: "Set as default template." Then click "Save." After doing this, new documents will open with the settings that you selected.
@@dkwebb13 I followed your instructions precisely, and tried it 3 times. It does not work.
These directions do not work. I have the same problem that Ron Shaw reports. The new font does not save as the default.

No, these are bad instructions: when I go to Tools drop down menu, there is NO 'options' listed at the bottom of the drop down menu as in your video. Libre Office SUCKS! :-(
Click in a document and press Alt+F12.
