John Monego Memorial Tree Lighting Ceremony 2023

12/12/23: Tonight, Sheriff Yesenia Sanchez joined Dublin Police Services (DPS) Chief Nate Schmidt at the annual tree lighting ceremony in DPS’ lobby in honor and memory of Dublin Police Deputy John Monego. Deputy Monego was killed in the line of duty just after midnight on December 12, 1998, while responding to a robbery in progress at the Outback Steakhouse. Dominic, Deputy Monego’s son, lit the tree this evening as Deputy Monego’s wife Tammy participated virtually. We will #neverforget John, who made the ultimate sacrifice that every law enforcement officer may face while wearing the uniform.
