@@NinjaPulls They removed the chance to proc burning status effect. At 1:46 you mention it has a chance to proc Burning status effect, that is an error.
@@CheeseTuber There's no error. The proc can still apply the Burning status effect. Originally it was *guaranteed* and that has indeed been changed, but the proc still deals Flame Damage and can therefore apply Burning. This is one of those rare CZcams channels where we actually do our research 🙂
@@NinjaPulls No offense but I was thinking procs can't proc additional procs. Since the Flame damage is a proc, would it proc burning status effect?
And mind you, I wasn't implying you don't do research. But mistakes do happen.
@@CheeseTuber Yeah no worries - smart people ask questions! But yeah, I did a test with zero Flame Damage and Burning was still going off. So I'm 100% sure.

I've been absolutely in LOVE with MagDK since I made my first DK in 2015, there have been times in the past where they were dead last compared to other classes at the time, so I'm unabashedly loving MagDK's high DPS spot.
Yeah, they've definitely been up and down a LOT over the last few years. I'm right there with you, but having some fun at the expense of whatever is 'meta' is too much fun - hence the intro :)

How would I use rune carver + coral riptide? Give up on monster sets or arena weapons?
Good question. I'm not sure, but in an AOE situation my first instinct would be to drop the Maelstrom back bar, put Riptide on the weapons and grab a monster set like Grothdarr or Stormfist. Or I'd just stick with Relequen for peace of mind, even though it may not be 100% optimal! 🥸

would this work if Overwhelming surges procs as well?? does it boost its damage?
Runecarver isn’t activated by proc sets, sadly. I understand why the devs made that decision though. I explain this at 2:22.
Runecarver / BSW ? This seems to hit well on overland content haven’t tried it in trials, need to transmute the gear.
Burning Spellweave works great in trash pulls. Plus, you can back bar it. There are better options for boss fights though. I'd always try to make sure you have a set with Minor Slayer.
Any recommends for an Oakensoul build for Mag DK, Gear/Skills/CP Slots? Preferable non-trial gear if possible. Runecarver?
Sorry, I have never used Oakensoul so I'm not the best person to ask. For casual play it's great, but if you're interested in optimising DPS I wouldn't generally recommend this Mythic.
@@NinjaPulls No worries, thanks for the reply. It's definitely for casual pve and getting used to my first time playing DK, not optimizing min/max just yet. Doing a bit of research since my comment, if it would help anyone else, it seems like a good setup for single bar oaken u40 would be gear runecarver+aegis with skills setup for either boss (single target) or trash fights (aoe). CP would be wrathful, deadly, thaum, exploiter.
Would you do any builds for necro ? My first class, they keep getting nerfed altho this one wasn't to bad for pve. I'm currently running whorl on front bar as body and staff. Nirn as back bar jewels and staff. Waiding kilt and zaan set. Getting about 60k ish and just shy of 70k with power pots
I just don't get a lot of build videos but this was much easier to follow than hack the minotaur

Instead of the two body pieces, will jewelry pieces and a weapon work or no?
It can work if you have no other choice, but you’ll miss so many ticks that the set will lose much it’s power. You could adapt your setup to compensate, but either way it’s a DPS loss. Better to have it on both bars if at all possible.

A stam dragonknight can make use of this or just mag DK only?
Stamina Dragonknight too. You’ll just need to tweak the setup - use Stampede and Carve instead of Blockade and Reach, for example.
But… spoiler alert… I’ll be putting out a Stamina Dragonknight setup which hits 128k on the dummy. It’ll be on the Ninja Pulls Discord today, hopefully on CZcams soon if I have the time.
Engulfing flames has that 6% flame damage increase. I understand you went with the nox breath for sustain, but that 6% damage is massive

Is this set viable in vCR solo portal?
Good question. I wouldn't wanna say without testing it myself, but it should work OK. Might be better options though!
Which dots tick every half second?
Right now I can’t think of any DOT abilities that do this. Sticky DOTs tick every 2s, ground DOTs tick every 1s and then there are a couple of special ones like Siphon and Fatecarver that tick every 0.3s. Procs don’t matter since they don’t trigger Runecarver. I can’t think of any 0.5s DOT abilities but feel free to check.
Mag Necro okay with that set ?
Yeah, it works really well. BUT the same rules and caveats apply - unless your group wants to burn multiple priority targets together, it's probably not the best set for boss fights.
have u a zenkosh build?
Sure - you can use the Wrecking Blow rotation posted in the Ninja Pulls Discord server. Just put Zen on the back bar and Alkosh on the body, and tweak the skill setup if necessary.
What about front bar weapons, staff instead of 2 daggers..
Sure, that works. No weapon abilities on the front bar so it doesn't really matter. But you'll lose some damage stats, and since you have to be in melee range for Whip anyway, I'd favour the Daggers. Entirely up to you!
Does this set works on pvp?
It works, sure. It will proc the same as it does in PvE, but I'm not sure how valuable that will be in PvP.
@@NinjaPulls it’s good for PvP I’m trying it out with wretched vitality on my stam DK and it’s doing job. Though you’ll have to take advantage of molten whip proc so breath then searing slice then inferno and then whip for the increaced dmg. Yeah my Stam DK is kinda hybrid but just a lil bit

@@NinjaPulls yeah. My issue with the set though is that I think it only procs once at a time. So if you dot up multiple people I think it only procs once per dot. So if you use 3 dots like trap, engulf flames and venom claw it will only proc on one of those dots at a time which is a shame tbh. These new dungeons sets have been a big let down ironically the one set I enjoy is the apocryphal inspiration as it makes my Hybrid Breton really viable with high magicka and stamina sustain

Quite a bit I think. I only tested this earlier in the PTS cycle, so I can't tell you precisely, but you miss a lot of Runecarver ticks if you one-bar the set. Then the set loses much it’s power. You can adapt your setup to compensate, but it's still a DPS loss. Better to have it on both bars if at all possible. If you test it, feel free to let me know!

That’s a fun idea! Might not compete with the top options, but it could be cool to test it out. Shame you’d be lumbered with 1 Light and 1 Heavy set.
elfbane is for spammable, bro. Like assasin's blade or executioner. It have nothing to do with elfbane.
@@rekianime Elfbane extends the duration of your Flame DOTs. It doesn't affect spammables. Anyway, like I said it won't compete with the top options, but in low-stakes situations some players might find it fun to use. Personally, I only use it in trash pulls these days.
@@NinjaPulls Elf bane affects your rotation and this is actually what it does, except burning status tweek ofc, but last one doesn't sounds like gamechanger. So while it affects character rotation, you will receive more space in it. And you will fill that space with some skills where in most cases it will be spammable. That is how it affect your spammable. And because top option here is finisher, elf bane synergies best with strong execute abilities. But since last summer this set was indirrectly nerfed: dots become longer, so using elf bane, you add less slots to rotation now than it was before.
@@rekianime Your message is a bit unclear, but I think I get what you're trying to say. You're right that Elf Bane is old news, everyone already knows how it works and that it's not a top option right now. The original question was just whether Elf Bane could work with Runecarver, which it can. Just not particularly well!
no all the sets in up date 37 suck zos is saving all the good stuff for the chapter in a few months.

Yeah this is all from a PvE perspective. I've heard of some people using this in PvP, but I think it's rare. I've never seen it appear on a Death Recap.
To be honest it’s kinda useless Mara balm just counters it hard.
We're looking solely at PvE here. Fair point though.
