It's insane how hard it is to get mods to work for a game like this in 2022 :')
I pray to Andraste that it will get easier in Dragon Age Dreadwolf
it will be the same engine, so no.
Absolutely not. Expect more pain; EA doesn’t really care about supporting modding. If anything they see it as cutting into their business.
Ha ha true. I thought Skyrim was daunting when I started modding it a few years ago. I had no idea how much I'd miss LOOT and MO2 when I started modding other games. I have over 250 mods in Skyrim including ESLs. I can't imagine having that many in some other games with the work that goes into them.
@@MjollTheLioness-o4y Skyrim is proably the easiest game on the market to mod. Bethsda is one of the few companies that really really supports modding

I've been playing DAI since its launch, but just this year I started to get into modding. Thanks to your awesome tutorials this experience has been like a walk in the park! I'm very grateful.
You are a literal saint, thank you so much for this tutorial! I used to play DA:I back when it came out on the PS4 and I've always wanted to learn how to mod the PC version but was way too overwhelmed with the process and would just give up out of frustration. Your videos are very concise and easy to understand even for a modding noob like me so I really appreciate it
I just want to say thank you so much for this tutorial. I suffer from major anxiety when it comes to modding and this step my step visual tutorial really has helped me a lot! TY so much for taking the time to show us visual learners! :)
This is very helpful! I always watch your dragon age how to mod vids whenever I change out mods because I always forget how to, especially with both mod types installed into my game. Amazing vid Complex! 😊
Thank you so much... i tried the whole day installing both. Your "platform launch" tip finally worked, after making the right steps! thank you!
Thank you so much for me, I was pulling out hair trying to get this to work without a tutorial, but I am glad I found this and it made it so easy.
Thank You! This is still coming in handy a year later. So thank you for the time and effort you put in so I dont go mad :)
Thank you so much for all your hard work on these Dragon Age vids!
I keep forgetting how to mod everything because I play on PC so rarely, and I always keep coming back to your vids for advice. :D Thank you for these, and for updating them, and for being so thorough and explaining everything in detail so that even someone as inexperienced as me can follow and keep up, I appreciate it a lot, thank you again. :)
You're a godsend, after how easy modding the other dragon age games were I was so scared to try Inquisition but all of your videos are super good and made it so simple!
Thank you for this. I literally go back to it whenever I mod the game. It’s so helpful because you explain things concisely and thoroughly.
Your videos have all been super helpful to me! Thank you and keep up the good work, please! Have a great day!
Thank You for updated guide for modding DA:I. I wanted to play the game like 6 months ago but I'm just downloading it 😅
Fortunetely I knew were to look for tutorial, but didn't expected guide for 2023 that fast. Wish me luck!
Boom! THANK YOU! I spent so long doing this, that, and the other thing. I almost assumed this didn't work, but it was the Frosty Texture Glitch Fix that slowed everything down. No shade on them, as I was using another mod that added a character texture (just in case anyone else has the same problem). ♥♥♥
Clear explanation both orally and visually for non-English speakers
Thank you so much !
You are awesome these videos are so helpful as my friends always ask how my game looks so good and I share the link have a great new year
I just bought DA:I on steam since it was on sale so this will help me greatly with spicing up the game a bit
Thank you, your videos are clear and concise.
Bookmarked! Thank you very much, great tutorial
Working good... Thank You :) And You have sweet voice :D
And here I thought my google search is too niche to actually find something helpful
Thank you so much!
This is my new favorite channel now. I've been modding with Skyrim before so I thought I should already be fine with modding DAI, but nope. I just started playing DAI and immediately felt like I need to mod it when I reached Skyhold cause it was lacking a lot of stuff that I want. And through your channel, I finally know how to and what mods I can add that will fit my playstyle. So, thank you very much for making this video for us.
Also yes, #FoodThenGames Gang
Much love and hugs. Thank you. ❤
OMG Thankyou!!!! I was STRUGGLING to get my mods to work and now I can finally play this game in PEACE! 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Your videos and streams are awesome, glad I found your channel
Thank you Fenry!!!!
HI...
for some reasons .dai mods arent showing up.. idk why
i did the steps, merged than changed to patch and deleted the other patch in the update folder
I was playing just fine awhile ago, then I go to play and now when I launched from Frosty like usual it gets stuck on the first loading screen. Any idea?
Im so confused 😭
It worked in many aspects but kept freezing when I enter the war room/after create the character so I reinstalled everything and this time I couldn't launch Frosty. It has this message "the given key was not present in the dictionary" What do I do?
Your video has a troubleshooting advice for when you only see Frosty mods (chapter title says the opposite though), but I'm having the opposite problem. I can only get .dai mods to load in, even launching from the Frosty mod manager. I tried having only the Speed Launch frosty mod applied so I could tell if it worked, but even that alone is not working. I've made sure that the patch folders are all correct. Do you have any advice?
EDIT: Ah I feel silly, but I'm leaving this comment in case anyone else had the same problem. I had to go into Tools > Options > Launch Options in the frosty mod manager and change the launch platform to EADesktop. I didn't think this would be the problem at first because launching from the mod manager still launched the game, so figured it must have already been set to the right platform (it was not).
Yes! That's a common Frosty problem that I went over in my frost mod manager video a bit more in depth! Glad you were able to get it fixed!
@@FoodThenGames My ADHD brain skipped that part I guess haha. Thank you for your videos!
Been enjoying your vids, quick question, where did you get the Morrigan armor for your inquisitor? I looked on Nexus and couldn't find it, and I'm not aware of any other sites that have mods for DAI.
that's a kitten tails mod! I forget the mod's name but it's in a mod with a lot of other outfit's that they've done! It is only for EF though!
@@FoodThenGames Ok thx, I'll look for it now 👍
frosty mod manager freezes when i try to open da:i. it gets stuck on loading data from layouts
So, I'm having a problem where I am only seeing my .DAI mods, NOT my Frosty mods. I've gone through the steps of installation multiple times, completely started over, the whole deal. Is there any advice you might be able to give about what to try? Thanks!
I have the same problem! Can’t figure it out
DAI is so much Better with Mods great Content Complex😘
Hi! Does this process work with Trespasser as well? Or will some of the mods break? I'm really confused about modding regarding the dlc breaking some of the mods.
Yupp! Modding methods don't change for DAI in the dlcs, it's all the same thing. The mods breaking the DLCs is how they were created slightly different vs. main game so some mods might not be compatible with them.
I generally find that things like companion complexion mods tend to break in the DLC which will cause CTDs or it not loading. If you run into issues when doing the DLC uninstall your mods, double check you can get it vanilla. If you can then install each mod individually in order to find the ones that don't work!
Awesome video.
I'm not seeing .DAS mods on my mod manager, how do I fix this, specifically the "Complete Schematics and Collectables Collection" mod. I'm a noob when it comes to this and I can't find the answer.
I have a separate video that shows how to install .dai mods so I'd suggest checking that out to see what steps you're missing!
Hi! I've been through the whole process, but when I launch the game, my inquisitor disappears, and some textures from the locations too... any idea of what the problem might be? I usually launch frosty with frostyfix, because my frosty mods doesn't work otherwise, idk if this happens because of that...
Ps. They both work on their own, but not togheter
I've personally never used FrostyFix so I'm not sure -- if you haven't changed the launch platform yet I'd try doing that to see if it helps.
It almost sounds like a really weird mod conflict? If you can load into the game with Frost Mod Manager with mods but with the DAIMods loaded in and it all works then I'd lean heavily towards a mod conflict.
okay so i cant get frosty to work at all anymore. if i set it to launch steam it doesnt work. if i use ea app it forces a restart and login of both steam and ea app and then just show me my library on ea app and doesnt start the game.
i bought inquisition on steam
a lot of people are having this problem right now and honestly I have no idea how to fix it -- it might require a patch from frosty mod manager or something. In the meantime if possible I'd suggest just using .daimods!
the "Patch_ModManagerMerger" is not being created, should i create one?
Have you tried running DAI Mod Manager as administrator? That worked for me!
Hey, thanks for your vids !
I have a question for you.
I did everything as you said, launched the game with Frosty, but when trying to play it says that I neew to start a new game because my other parties were done with a more recent version of the game...?
You need to change the patch number! I covered that I believe in my frosty mod vid!
TY for the vids. can you share your mods what u using in the vids, i love the poppies on hinterland's field ^^
HELPPP
after i updated my dai mods and deleted the patch folder i went and added new frosty mods but the frosty mod manager just won’t launch and always says:
„Unable to launch process as there is already a running process with process Id XXXXX“ with different numbers.
IDK WHAT TO DO
i tried everything in my power i feel like
reloading the computer helped, it creates hidden processes when you mess with the mods for so long
Question from a beginner after I do what you said in the video should I run the game from Frosty mod manager or I can run it normally?
Yes - run it from frosty!
Hey this has been so helpful, thank you! I do have a question though: I did all the necessary steps but only my DAI mods are showing. I'm launching from Frosty, mods installed, running with admin permission, but the frosty mods are still not appearing. They were working fine when I was just running Frosty mods though. No crashes or infinite loading screens, just no Frosty mods.
I would appreciate any help on this at all.
Sounds like the patch folder didn't get switched or something happened in that process.
If you can still load into the DAI Mod Manager no problem then the patch folder hasn't been switched. If you're running into the error and you can't then I'd suggest doing the patch folder steps again, remerging, etc and seeing if that fixes it!
Heyoo did you ever get your Frosty mods to work?
I’m having the same issue- daimods work by themselves, frosty mods work by themselves, but when I run both together the frosty mods don’t load in (daimods seem to work fine still). Haven’t found a fix yet, but I’ve tried a lot of things :/
@@Turtleluver26 same here I can't see any frosty mods pls help!
Maybe im doing it wrong. But when i remove the patch from my update folder and re name the other one like shown. .DAI Mod manager no longer works nor reads my mods. putting the patch back in however makes them show! Is uh.....is this wrong or?
Nope it should work that way -- you have to repeat the replacing with your OG patch folder, then replacing patch folder process every single time you want to update your .daimods!
@@FoodThenGames I believe I got it working by re watching your steps! Thank you so much for responding and being active!
I am very confuse
I want to confirm that after I install the mod using DAI mod manager
the mod will work normally if I launch the game by frosty?
The part I am confused is after renaming the patch_modmanagermerge folder
I am trying to use More Inquisition Levels mod
You'll only be able to use both of types at the same time if you remane your patch_modmanagermerge folder to patch and then just mod frosty like normal after and it should work!
What do you do when you've run mod manager and merged mods, but there's no patch_modmanager folder? :( I think my game is broken
Did you try to do that after having both frosty and .daimods together? If so then you need put your fresh/clean patch folder in and retry the merge!
I installed some other DAI mods after installing frosty mods and doing the patch steps you mentioned. Then I got the error message as mentioned, did the patch steps there, and now DAI Mod Manager just isn't opening. Like it opens up then crashes. I dont know what to do now
You need to install a clean patch folder into your game -- .daimod manager can't function unless it has a clean patch folder to work with!
You are the best!! This video and your DAI and Frosty videos have helped me mod this game without a hiccup to over 50 mods now and running smooth as silk!! Thank You Thank You Thank You!! Your delivery and the technical knowledge is flawless and the whole thing at an excellent pace so others can actually keep up and learn. I Subbed, Liked and hit the alarm bell!!! Thank you so so much!! You are also a lifesaver too.... Shhhhhhhhhh lololol
Whats the mod called to allow any class to break walls, lock pick and the mage one? I think I saw it in a video but I've know idea what to search for on Nexus.
I forget the name of it but it's in my let's play mod list that's linked in any of Riley's episodes!
So I have a problem, when I delete the patch and rename the patch_modmanager just patch, everytime I open .DAI Mods, I have a message saying that the app try to locate the first patch folder who i deleted? I'm lost...
That’s normal and explained in the vid! You have to always re-put in the OG patch folder when you want to change out .daimods and then repeat the patch change process as .daimm has to read OG patch folder to work!
@@FoodThenGames Yeah I saw that like one hour after… Sorry for that and continue your amazing work
thank you FTG!
So this might help someone, I couldn't get Frosty to load no matter what I did until I downloaded Frosty Mod Manager - 1.0.6.0 (Alpha 5) for some reason the version 1.0.6.3 didn't have the tools-options-path option but the alpha 5 did, and worked.
I keep getting an error called "An unhandled exception has occurred". I've ran the mod manager as an administrator and I've also downloaded up to date mods one at a time to see if that was the problem but it didn't change anything :(. I redownloaded the frosty mod manager as well and made sure that the mod manager was also up to date, which it was but still the error didn't go away, I was just wondering if you knew any way to fix this because I have been trying to fix this for a while now but nothing seems to work :/ my Dragon age is on steam but I run it through the EA app because it seems to load that way, however I can not launch the game at all through the frosty mod manager.
my updated Frosty Mods video might have a fix for it in there!
@@FoodThenGames I had a look at it before and unfortunately none of the fixes seem to work :") I'm unsure as to why it just doesn't seem to work, the error pops up everytime I tried a solution ;^;
Do I also need DAItoolsuit mod? That's the one I downloaded.
When I go into my DAI > Updates I don't see the Patch_ModManagerMerge? It is because I haven't installed Frosty yet?
The patch_modmanagedmerge is made by .daimods and is actually what frosty hates 😂 so if you don’t have it but are running .daimods there might have been an issue with your merge!
Is there anyone else not getting a Merge_modmanager folder? My DAI mods will not load and I don't have a file like that to replace with my current patch folder, even after running the game and merging the DAI Mod loader
Mere moment after this I attempted loading the Dai Mod Loader as administrator than trying the merge again, that was the solution. Incase anyone else is as dumb as me run everything as administrator. EA App blocks fucking everything
I'm done everything but DAI mods won't show up
my .dai mod manager isn't working properly. even after changing patch folders, i get no error and the mods aren't applying in game. Any ideas or tips?
EDIT: so the error came back. I was forgetting to delete the patch folder after and re-name the merge folder. So i did that but the mods still aren't working.
Also, only one of my mods shows up in the dai mod manager folder, but the rest show up in the dai mods folder.
would really appreciate some help on this. Should I just delete inquisition and the dai mod manager then redownload? I don't mind doing that if it would fix my problem.
You could try repairing the game and then going through the .daimods installation process only to make sure that's all working correctly. If you haven't yet I have a detailed .daimod installation tutorial that might be helpful!
If i have already downloaded frosty do i have to uninstall it and start with the DAI? Or just downlnoad DAI with already downloaded frosty?
You can use a single installation of frosty for multiple frost bite games. So you won't need to uninstall/reinstall it or anything like that.
Will having multiple profiles on Frosty for my different characters affect using daimods? Like will the mod manager try to mesh with all the mods on Frosty or just the ones currently loaded into the active profile? Your tutorials helped a lot in understanding how to use them together but I thought I read somewhere that having multiple profiles can mess it up. Though it's possible that might've been for a different game.
It shouldn’t affect .daimods or anything it’ll just load in whatever mods you have active and checked off in frosty so it should be safe to use for multiple characters!
However there is no way to tie .daimods into a frosty profile so your daimods will always be whatever is loaded through the MM and into the patch folder!
@@FoodThenGames Thank you. I decided to mostly use the daimm for mods that are useful across all my Frosty profiles. Like Seasonal Palettes and older companion mods (since I use the same companion mods across all my characters). Your tutorial was extremely helpful and easy to follow.
Dang, I finally got this to work but once i went back to edit my .DAI mods, it has caused infinite loading into the main screen :(
Omfg.. been racking my head against this crap for so long.
thinking frosty just didn't work, since the mods didn't apply, there really needs to be a disclaimer about not being able to use both managers at once without using this fix.
thank you so so so so so so so so so so much... this really helped.
Hi, thank you for the helpful video! I got frostmod and daimod to work together the other day but I am having problems now. I successfully backed up a copy of my patch folder and renamed the mergedpatch folder to just patch, but now when I try to add more mods to dai mod manager it says "The official patch folder contains a merged mod manager patch, please restore the official patch to the correct location, or use "repair game" in Origin to correct it". The mod manager is now greyed out and I can't add or remove mods. I tried running in administrator mode but get the same message. Has anyone run into this?
You need to add your OG patch folder back in, then it should let you in, do the merge, then re do the patch folder steps again. I believe it's covered in detail in the tutorial at the 2:18 ish mark!
@@FoodThenGames Thank you that worked!
What you say that could happen at 3:56 of the video with only DAI mods, in my case it seens to be the oposite, my DAI files are working, the hair, the no wait at war table and even Jesephine's outfit are there. But when I put the frosty mods, the are NOT there, one of the ones I downloaded are some different hairstyles for the character creation, but the hairs are still the normal ones. Not gonna lie, I've benn trying to use these frosty mods for a while, but I'm almost giving up on them.
I'd verify that you can frosty only to work. Make sure to do the patch folder steps to have a clean patch folder and no .daimods installed. Then you'll know if you're having a frosty issue or if it's a two mod managers together issue. I have some trouble shooting tips in my frosty install video that might help further if it is a frosty based problem!
@@FoodThenGames I reverted thr patch to original and well, the game still didn't show the frosty mods, I just deleted the ModData and I'm now trying it again without .dai mods and only frosty, hopefully it works now.
Still nothing, I have 2 hair mods to character creation and 2 other mods for Josephine. And when I create a new game, the mods for hair do not appear.
Hello! Your tutorial has been very helpful. But I'm running into some issues. Starting with .dai mods, I've installed them correctly and they seem to be working fine, but some say that the mod isn't compatible with the patch version. I did what you said, changing the version number in the pathfolder, but it didn't seem to do anything. This also applies for frosty. In frosty, it gives me a warning that the mod may or may not work for the version of the game. I'd love some pointers on that!
You just have to keep upping the patch number until you get to one that let's you in! It's a little tedious but you'll eventually get into old save files. And make sure you're changing the patch file number for your patch_merge folder and not the original one as your game is now reading the patch_merge folder!
You can also in your mod data folder try changing the patch number in there as well as in your patch folder to see if that works/fixes it.
I wouldn't worry at this point about a mod being "outdated" for frosty as frosty was created post DAI being updated so everything is technically relevant. However if you're running a .dai mod via frosty and getting that error that could be an older mod but it should still in theory work.
Hello! I was wondering if there's a way to fix black emporium not working with mods? The expedition isn't showing up at all even after uninstalling all mods and mod managers as well as the mod files in the game folder... I just want to be able to access the DLC at this point regardless of mods. please help :(
That sounds more like something isn't installed correctly than a mod problem as you can still access the DLCs with mods installed -- you might try repairing your game if you haven't already to see if that fixes it!
@@FoodThenGames I will try that >:) thank u
Hi!! When I removed the 'Patch' folder and renamed the other one to 'Patch', I checked DAI Mod Manager and it says I need a Patch folder without mods, does it mean that the mods I installed in DAI Mod Manager got removed?
Nope it's still there! daimod manager can't read a folder called "patch" that's been edited which is why it needs the OG patch folder put back in and creates it's own folder after. So they're all still there but you'll need a clean folder to edit your daimods down the road!
@@FoodThenGames omfg, thanks so much! Your vids have been so helpful in installing them in the first place btw!!!
I havent played this game for a mounth or a little longer, back then when i stopped playing the game had crashed and then i didnt touch the game, i didnt add a new mod or touch anything etc, my game worked just fine until the game crashed that was the first the game crashed.
Now when i wanted to play again, the fkn game wont start through frosty mod manager...?! and i have no fkn idea what to do?! :S The game starts and works fine if i start the game through Steam or EA...
When i did mod my game before i learned that from your videos btw. But no matter what i do now the damn game wont start...!? :S Any idea what the problem could be?
I followed everything in the tutorial but for some reason, only .dai mods are loading for me and i cant get frosty mods to work, i have no idea what to do to fix it
immediately after commenting this i tried launching it one more time and the frosty mods suddenly started working but the .dai mods stopped
can someone help me? everything worked perfectly fine until i update 1 single mod (instead of the normal brows, i wanted the sparse ones because they were too thick for my own taste) and i did update it exactly how it was instructed (placing the old patch folder again, starting mod manager, and then the thing with the patch folder again) and now it only starts in black screen. it worked perfectly fine before i don't know what i'm doing wrong it was just a single mod...
Troubleshooting:
- Make sure you don't have two eyebrow mods installed
- Try loading in with just .daimods to see if it works
- Try going back to the original brow mod to see if that works
@@FoodThenGames i ended up redoing everything again. i think i messed it up when i deleted the daimod file of the previous eyebrow mod. i’ll simply disable it next time! everything works now so far!! thank you! :))
I have both DAI mod manager and Frosty mod manager installed but czcams.com/video/TiXuixE8vr0/video.html my issue is I cannot launch the game with Frosty mod manager (it does the patching but the game just wont launch), can I still play with both .DAI mods and frosty mods?
I've done everything right, but none of the frosty mods take any effect in-game, all the daimods work just fine. All mods appear applied in the frosty manager and I launch the game through frosty manager. Does it have something to do with the fact that I'm playing the game pass version, which uses the new EA app?
Edit: that was precisely it. If you're having the same issue, here's how to fix it:
Click on the tools tab on frosty manager>options>Launch options>enable platform launching and select EA desktop
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!
If you’d be willing, would you mind making an updated version of this? This worked great up until the latest release of frosty, now even with daimods disabled, it conflicts somehow, leading to either buggy mods, them not working at all, or being unable to load into my saves at all
Honestly I’d just suggest using an older version of frosty at this point. A lot of the trouble with DAI modding isn’t frosty so much as the updates to EA App - however I have had a few people mention they went back to a slightly older version or the version I’m using in the video and everything works great for them now!
@@FoodThenGamesthank you for the response. I tried doing that as well, but unfortunately the game wouldn’t launch at all when I did so :( I’ll try messing around with it
a few days ago (using Ivy's mods) I played DAI with mods (DAIMM) working. Now it does not. The app itself seems to work fine - then launching it seems to load forever. Like 'not responding'. The little rift is down in the corner and pulsing but even after 20 minutes or so, still no game. I have reinstalled so many times trying to get the game to work with mods (thru EA App) no joy. Is there a way to launch DAIMM without going thru EA APP.
Also Frosty has symbolic links it needs to find and fails and I can"t find where to change the lauch path (?). It isn't in options. I just need DAIMM to work. Thankyou for still having tutorials and troubleshooting this far out from game launch.
It sounds like you're using both .dai mods & frosty mods?
I've personally never had a problem when using just .dai mods as those are super super stable for me. Your problem sounds more like a common frosty issue where you can have issues using frosty when EA App updates in the background and it'll fuck with everything and there isn't anything you can do until either EA App gets another update or frosty gets one. I'd suggest setting your patch folder back to the vanilla one, just running the .dai mod manager and then loading into the game to see if that works. If at the point you're still having issues you can either repair your game and try again or try one mod at a time to figure out which one your game doesn't like.
But otherwise .daimods shouldn't need to launch any differently than just launching the game as is so I can't see that being an issue with EA App. However the game has to be launched through EA App as it has DRM so there aren't any work arounds sadly.
Also there isn't a launch path option anymore as the newest version of frosty auto handles that.
@@FoodThenGames also, thankyou
Tried to follow this, but when I try to launch the game with Frosty it freezes up when applying the mods. I only got 4 mods on frosty, wich are the required mods to make Antos hairstyle to show on the CC and the hairstyle itself.
Does Frosty freeze when double clicking to apply the mod or when you're launching to start the game via frosty? If it's when you're launching the game via frosty it sounds like you have a mod conflict -- if you have a hair texture mod installed via .DAImods that might be causing it!
@@FoodThenGames It happens when launching the game, I'm gonna do a double check up to make sure nothing is conflicting, thanks for the fast reply
Removed all the daimm mods and frosty still refuses to apply the mods
I have not ben able to get this work at all? are their any considerations for Windows 11?
the only thing I can think of is to try running it in administrator mode. Otherwise I'm not sure if anyone has tips for windows 11 I'm sorry!
Also -- can you get just .dai mods or just frosty mods to work? or does none of them work?
So can anyone help because the other day my mods worked but now all a sudden they don't work.
Is it Frosty or .DAI that isn't working? If it's frosty it honestly just might be a weird blip in the system -- sometimes I find that I have to re start the MM a few times to get it to work or just give it a day!
But then, what if the DAIMods are working but not Frosty mods? I launch the game through Frosty, yet the mods are not working.
Double check you did the patch folder steps correctly because it sounds like it’s still reading the merged and not patch folder!
Now im stuck with some wierd stupid bug in the Trespassers DLC, trying to kill Iron Bull, but that MF never dies!!! when he's health is at 1000 it stays there! it gose down and up but never fkn dies!? I thought i come up with a good idea to use cheat to one hit kill him, but nothing changes! that MF is still alive!... Any idea how to fix that shit? -.-''' I have also removed all he's gear.
I've just found your vidoes and they've been so helpful, I was wondering if you had a video on how to run the frosty fix? apparently the new EA app doesn't like frosty and I'm wondering if maybe thats why my mods aren't working but I'm getting confused by it
Frosty Fix won't fix that anymore from what I understand -- in my how to mod frosty video I showed how to change the launch platform and that should fix the issue!
@@FoodThenGames thanks I think that helped ☺
What if u only see DAI mods and not Frosty, i am playing on steam, should i tell frosty to use the platform launch ? then to what do i put it? Steam or EA Desktop
?
You either haven't done the patch folder step correctly or need to change the platform launch -- in my frosty modding video I went more in depth on it but try EA App first, if that doesn't help then switch to steam but most people have only had it work with EA App!
@@FoodThenGames thank you I did just that know I also have a good looking Inquisitor but not as good as yours. Love your videos and the passion for the games one of your vids got on my recommendation and made me dow load and play DAI again after so long
I have problem patch 1.12...
How to patch from 1.11 to 1.12? Some My daimods wont work because the patch incorrect T_T
In my other two tutorials I explained how to change the patch number!
Can i ask something? I download mod for frosty but i got warning sign that mod was designed for different game version, i got FMM 1.0.6.1 and my patch update for DAI is 12, is there some kind explanation? Thank you
do you get that when you load into the game or in FMM? If it's in FMM don't worry about it the mod should still work fine. If it's in the game that you get that you'll need to change your patch number manually and I went over that in I think my frosty video! If not it's in the .DAI one!
@@FoodThenGames from DAI mod works fine when i change the patch update, but the mod i installed for FMM did not load at all, it says mod was design for different version.
it seems frosty manager mod is not running. the only mods i think working is from dai mod manager. do you have any tips on how can i check if frosty manager mod is working or running. i also found frosty mod folder is on mod data while dai mod is on update folder. was it normal? i thought we are renaming the patch folder from the update folder so frost mod manager can overwrite it with frosty mod manager
yes, you want your mod data folder to be it's own thing. You only need to change the folder names in the update folder. It sounds like there was an error when changing the folder names as that problem you had usually happens when you don't switch the patch folder around!
@@FoodThenGames thanks for the reply i just gave up using frosty and just go back to dai mod manager
hi so for some reasons frosty mods are working but .dai mods are not... any idea why?
trying changing the launch platform option -- I went over how to in my other frosty video!
@@FoodThenGames hi :) my launch options are ea app
If I already have frosty mods installed, do I need to remove them all first before doing a merge?
Btw what is that hair mod!
you don't no, you just need to make sure your patch folders are all correct!
by deleting the patch folder to fix an issue or whatever with the .dai mod manager, won't I need to reinstall all the mods again for Frosty? 3:00
It’s not to fix an issue it’s to allow frosty to read the .daimods as the patch folder instead of as a secondary patch folder which it cannot read. Frosty doesn’t install into your game like .daimods does so it’s fine!
@@FoodThenGames no I get that, but what I dont get is after both daimod and frosty are installed, if I want to uninstall something, won't I lose the mods from Frosty, since I'm backing up the patch folder that didn't have the Frosty mods before.
Nope because like I said frosty doesn't install into your game or touch your patch folder. It has it's own mod data folder that it reads but stores the mods themselves offsite of the game so it doesn't matter. what you do to the patch folder as long as it can read that you have a "patch" folder.
@@FoodThenGames Aah gotcha! My god I'm stupid, thank you for explaining :)
Getting back to DAI to refresh my memory before the new game.
tysm
@@FoodThenGames Sorry to bother you again, but do you know if there's a DAI Mods Discord or a place where I can ask question with troubleshooting?
I have this weird issue where my archer's arm looks funky when shooting the bow and I can't seem to find what makes that happen.
I followed your Ivy top 50 mods, lovely. But I tried to deviate a little.
It isn't working and I don't know why. I can't get frosty to work. When I try to hit the launch button in frosty the game just will not open.
There was a recent-ish EA App update that caused some issues. As a result a lot of people are having issues. Sadly I don’t currently know of a workaround.
Ok, I followed the instructions and I appreciate the tutorial. But why didn't you mention at the START of the video, that you should download any DAIModManager mods first before you do the merge? Because now i'm going to have to do the whole thing with replacing the patch folder again, when I feel like I could have just grabbed all the DAIModManager stuff I wanted first and then went through this process. The Vortex mod manager also referred me to this video and said to do this first lol
I did at the 1:16 mark. Literally a minute-ish into the video I mention installing .daimods first. The only thing I mentioned before that was to know how to install mods and back up the patch folder.
@@FoodThenGames My bad, I didn't hear that part. Must have been distracted or something like that. So yeah, I apologise for my mistake. Great video and very helpful.
I know this is a bit of an older video, but I'm having issues with .DAI ): At first I was only using Frosty mod manager but there are some .DAI mods I like that wouldn't work with it, so I decided to just use both of them. I bought DAI through steam, which uses the EA app to launch it.
I have Frostyfix and the Frosty mod manager works just fine by itself, but for some reason whenever I merge my .DAI mods and then delete the original Patch folder to replace it with the merged one that .DAI makes, the game won't launch. Instead, I'll open the game on steam which will launch the EA app but instead of then automatically closing the EA app and starting up DAI like it usually does, the EA app stays open. But, even if I try launching DAI through the EA app, another EA window (which is blank) opens. Then after a few seconds both EA windows close (the second mini one that was blank never loads) without a warning and DAI doesn't launch. If I try opening DAI on EA again, the same thing happens.
The only thing which fixes it is verifying the integrity of my game files through steam, but that resets the patch folder to what it was originally which gets rid of the .DAI mods! If anyone can offer a solution I would really appreciate it. I can still use my Frosty mods by themselves, but there are so many wonderful .DAI mods that just aren't available with Frosty. Thank you!!
By the way, I launch the game through steam and not the Frosty mod manager because doing so opens the EA app but for some reason my library will be empty. If I launch through Frostyfix, it claims I don't have access to the game I'm trying to launch or there was an error and I need to restart the app (which never works). Despite that, launching the game through steam works fine and my mods still show up (without the .DAI merged patch folder).
Have you tried changing the launch platform? I personally don’t use frosty fix and just changed my launch platform and that allows me to do both! My frosty installation guide goes over how to do that!
@@FoodThenGames Yes! I've tried both EA desktop and steam, same results
My game is on steam and I have to open it through EA Desktop app. I did all the steps correctly and can open the game with all mods, both DAI and Frosty. However, my Frosty Mod Manager freezes with “Waiting for Game” while the game is already running and it doesn’t even stop when I exit the game. Therefore, I have to forcefully close the mod manager through task manager every time I run the game.
Another thing is with Launch options. Changing launch option into steam causes the Frosty mods to disappear in game. Disabling platform launching also causes Frosty mods to disappear. The mod manager just launches the game like usual with no errors at all but in the game, they are all gone even though the mods are clearly installed.
Try changing the launch option to the EA App instead of stream as more people have luck with that! It might hopefully solve your game launching issue. But to be honest needing to force quit out/frosty giving you that kind of trouble could just be frosty being frosty sadly 😅
@@FoodThenGames Thanks a lot for the advice. Your videos have been a great help. DAI is more enjoyable with mods on after all.
my game decided to not launch because Frosty launched dai as admin and if it does that, it don't run. As fun as frosty mods are, I'm gonna have to stick to dai mod manager until i find a solve for it
Since a recent-ish EA App update a lot of people are saying frosty mods aren't working sadly. Here's hoping there's a fix for it soon!
@@FoodThenGames I see. I thought it is just my end. hope it's solved soon. Playable Morrigan is calling my name lol
Ive noticed with the new launcher for me at least modding doesn't work anymore.
thx
I just now also tried to remove all mods from Frosty and the game still wont launch...? i have the latest version of Frosty...
Will it not launch with Frosty or just as is? If it won't launch as is then you probably are going to need to repair your game and start modding over.
If it'll start without frosty then it's either a patch folder issue with frosty or you need to just reinstall frosty from scratch and go from there!
@@FoodThenGames I have tried to reinstall Frosty but nothing changed.
I have removed all mods from frosty and tried to launch with Frosty without mods, nothing changed!
I have deleted the file from Appdata - Local - Frosty and i deleted Caches from Frosty Mod Manager folder, nothing changed.
I have downloaded the FrostyFix and followed the instructions, nothing worked or got fixed!
No matter what i do the damn game wont start...
I start the game with frosty and I only get the dai mod manager ones (I run it as administrator and the error continues)
Then I use frosty fix and only the frosty ones come out -.-
Only seeing frosty mods is a patch folder issue. Not seeing frosty mods with .daimods installed is the game not reading your mods at all so deleting the mod data folder and forcing it to re-apply might fix it. However frosty fix is no longer needed I believe with the newest version of frosty and might only be causing more trouble!
@@FoodThenGames In the past I only used frosty, but it never worked well for me, even with this last update it didn't work for me, I always needed frostyfix, I deleted it and installed it many times but it never worked as it should
And this problem continues and now only the DAI mod manager mods appear and I don't understand why it doesn't work well for me
I have watched your video about frosty many times and I do everything in detail but the same thing always happens to me
whenever I try to run frosty after installing both of them it keeps saying "value cannot be null. parameter name: buffer" how can I fix that-?
I don't know what would cause that I'm sorry -- maybe the frosty discord would know!
@@FoodThenGames I figured it out it was some mods not working- but I do have another question so I did all the steps to install them together and even did the patch step whenever I added .DAI mods but for some reason frosty mods still won’t show up?
Have you done the launch platform step? If not that might be it! I went into detail about it in my how to install frosty video in the tips section!
@@FoodThenGames I did for some reason still not working, so I wonder if the problem is EA and not frosty
