G'day Mate, The entire build is fucking sick. When the turbos spool, even though you're not able to stay on it for long stretches, the sound is absolutely wicked crazy!!! You all did one hell of a job, turning a stock Camaro into an absolute beast, while retaining the stock look! Cheers from Western Australia!
NRE makes some of the coolest cars that are both functional for daily drivers and racing beasts. When I finish college in some years I pray that you guys are still doing this because when I get some money coming in I will be dropping a car off and I want you to do the motor down to the rear suspension. Good work guys, you never fail to amaze me!

Some idiot can pull out in front of you anywhere at any time. They're building street cars. Not race cars. Being able to make sure they handle right on the STREET is part of it. Start building test tracks and shit like that and costs go through the roof and the next thing you know your cars a million bucks a pop like Hennessey. Not to mention California is a LITTLE DIFFERENT than Texas in terms of REAL ESTATE PRICES.
The quality of craftsmanship on NRE cars is incredible....I have never seen better. A little over the top for a street car ? Maybe.... Fun ?....You better believe it, mang....

The part where he tubed the rear end so you can fit big tires in the back. Of course your not gonna take it to a track with street tires. He is just having fun and showing/testing the car. Once the owner has it, it will probably have at least a wide radial tire for the street.

lol... the most impressive thing about the video was the skill of the driver, he has already proven himself to be one of the best, if not the best, engine builders/fabricators in the world... my dream car will have one of his engines in it... and if he would have had a mishap, he WOULD have been the first, cause there is only one in the world like it! and he happened to build it... make a vid of you driving yours with two hands!
Yes. I just left out the power lost associated with spinning the turbo as it is relatively very small. It could possibly be made up in relieving vacuum (see below). Like you said, when you are off throttle with a turbo, it is able to cruise like a stock car and get great mileage. Additionally, the turbo produces just a slight amount of boost when cruising (they never stop). This boost eliminates the vacuum the engine creates to pull in new air/fuel. So it improves efficiency.
Just when I thought I was really doing something throwing 750 horse into a NA 2nd gen... Inspiration comes from NRE. Quality fit, finish and function. (not that the F Bomb wasn't already on my mind, but...) this is just some awesome fab work, all the way around.
Good point. that car has all nice electronics. It must have a bunch of precautions built in. things have changed in 14 years from when I had my ken Duttweiler grand national.

I would love to see it with decent tires though. What a beautifully crafted car. Guys who put that together should be proud as hell. It is truely a Beast of a car !
Just to add to your explanation, turbo chargers do use power to turn them as they are a restriction in the exhaust, and create huge back pressure, however, it robs a lot less than a supercharger. Also a supercharger is creating boost at all times, and a turbo is only making boost when the engine is under load, making it possible for these things to cruise around like a stock car, which is why they can get 20+ mpg just driving around.
You guys build some of the baddest shit I have seen. I always wanted a twin turbo vette, but I want one of your twin turbo motors in a custom awd silverado. make a crazy sleeper.
