Very nice tutorial. I studied traditional NYC Hustle. Have you ever seen people switch from traditional to NSH or vice versa during a dance with strangers? Or will it just look awkward, so it's better to just choose one style because of the difference of the AND1 for the leads?

Thank you for your great comment and question! From my experience I believe it is totally possible to switch back and forth, as the leader has the option to keep the Follower on the AND1 or not whether the lead is doing the footwork or not. The style of NSH is very similar to the original and uses the AND1 timing as a basis anyway, but in order for someone to switch up in the middle of a dance, the Follower can't be stuck on the AND1, they must be fluid and flexible to in the moment timing changes. For this reason the technique of NSH has the followers weight a little more back so they can be a bit more sensitive and have time to react. I've noticed that the original style has the follows weight more forward. Even so, I've been able to follow traditional Hustlers even though my technique is a little more suited for NSH, just by being sure to stay on the original timing. Thanks so much for the thoughtful question!:-)

It's still the Hustle it's just our personal twist on the Hustle, no basic step for the lead, and later on we lose the basic timing too, only use the timing as a framework. Our style is based on the feeling of underground House clubs from the 2000's era NYC, very free musically. Now the style has branched out to include all genres of music even those without a 4/4 timing structure. Best wishes:)

@loveinmotionchoreography it's old style with your twist not new style you didn't invent it. you are just improvising but it's the 6 step basic...
