This is the Britain I grew up in
as someone who is non-British (but is strong in English communication) i sometimes get conundrums about spelling, pronunciation or grammar of how everybody else does it vs how the English does it.... and often thats the conclusion i end up in-- heck the British invented the language who am i to say its wrong? 😂

aroace Actually its “spelt” too. Depends where you live. I’m Australian and I would spell words burnt, learnt, spelt, smelt/smelled, etc. When we talk it sounds like a T not ED so we spell it that way. There are regional differences and family differences too, other Australians might spell things with ED. I believe Britain is the same.

einat1622 Welsh spelling is much more regular than English spelling.
@@entwistlefromthewho Yes, it's phonetic but the words looks longer & more complex at first. Also, the fact there is front of the mouth sound (LL) along with back of the throat (CH) is hard to do.
@@einat1622 To Welsh speakers they're perfectly easy sounds to make - just as the two sounds of English TH are easy for English speakers but not for Dutch as the sounds don't feature in Dutch. It's all relative.
