    A few minutes in, I was thinking this was the most long winded oil change tutorial ever. After watching the whole thing, I'm thankful you took the time to explain everything. Just bought a 2003 RX1 and I'll be doing some routine maintenance on it this Spring. Thanks for the video!

    Love my rx1 but working on it is a pain in the ass! it is an hour job to change the oil filter. Great video will be helpful to many rx1 owners. Thank you

      you can get faster at it, and they claim 12,000mi interval on that filter... i do it every 2 years.

    I bought one of these last winter and it's an phenomenal machine. rides smooth like a cadillac but gets up and goes in an instant like no other! I am absolutely terrified to work on it though, it looks so intimidating knowing how tight it is in there under the hood

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  Před rokem +1

      It does look intimidating at first. However, The things that you would need to work on unless you had a major failure are all accessible. For example the battery oil filter carburetors and chain case are easy to get too. Check out my other videos on the RX-1. They are a great machine

    Just changed my oil on my 04'rx1 mountain..few other little things before the snow hits..i like your skis...what year apex did they come off? what years could we use on our sleds that parts will if from apex..i put an apex(think it was an 06') seat on mine a few years ago, now sit alot higher like a newer sled lol.

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  Před 2 lety

      I bought 2 pairs of them from a guy who parts out crashed sleds on Ebay. He told me they came off an 06 Apex mountain. Just briefly looking at other sleds those skis fit there are several other mountain models from 06-17 that use the same skis. Do a search on Ebay and there are several out there currently.

    Great video, very helpful info. Just picked up one of these myself. Do you know of a fix for the rattle on the primary clutch? I’ve read it’s the rollers. Any help would be appreciated

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  Před rokem

      I believe you are correct it is the rollers and possibly the bolts that hold them. Sometimes I have found that slightly raising or lowering the idle rpm will help. Also making sure you have good clean carbs with a smooth idle. The rattle is common and not a cause for concern.

    • @NoSaltNation
      @NoSaltNation Před rokem

      @@MiloFarms thank you, that’s what I figured. Appreciate it. Is there any easy way to adjust the idle?

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  Před rokem

      @@NoSaltNation Flip up the rubber flap on top of the carb rack. In the middle where the throttle cable attaches is a screw that takes a flat head screwdriver. With the engine at operating temp the screw will adjust the idle. The specs are printed on top of the drive belt guard.

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  Před rokem

      I don't know the size However, Yamaha makes a heater part number SMA-HEATR-CL-NT. Many sales places show it fits the RX-1

    • @woof2496
      @woof2496 Před rokem

      @@woof2496 You could also compare the 2005 RX-1 hoses with the 2003 hoses and see if they are the same part number. If so it may fit.

      @@666dynomax At some point in its life it had hit something hard with the right ski. The spindle was bent and it was no longer in alignment. The previous owner donated it to a thrift store. It then ended up at a car auction place and they lifted it with straps and broke the hood hinge windshield and plastic parts around the windshield. Then a guy bought it from the auction and I got it from him. A few weekends work and it was good as new.

      @@MiloFarms pretty awesome find. the way i look at this stuff is; a man built it so a man should be able to take it apart and fix it. i hear people complain about oil changes and buying relocation kits, greaser kits for driveshaft bearings etc... once you've done it once, its simple. took me 2-3hrs oil change and plugs on my first apex,45 minutes on second... pulled exhaust to fix flange and donuts took me 5 hours first machine, on the second I had the exhaust in my hand 30 minutes... no trouble... Yamaha like I find with Toyota do a nice job engineering things for repair and maintenance...

    bit of a long shot as this video is 2 yrs old, but what setup did you use to make a tow hitch for your sled?

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  Před 6 měsíci

      There is not a good way to put a hitch on an rx1. I got a universal hitch and bolted it to the bumper. Ended up removing after a season as it loosened all the rivets in the tunnel extension.

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  Před 2 lety

      Depending on what you like to do with the sled you can certainly look at adjusting suspension to fine tune it for trail or powder. For example if you like trail riding stiffen the ski springs up.
