- This is recording of a Live Session of Muhammad Ali with a student of Famous University of Pakistan. The student asked very challenging and common questions of Youth from Muhammad Ali. It is a very fruitful discussion.
I was enjoying music when I was not praying 5 times a day, but after regular praying for months, music just feels sound to me and not entertaining me, it is happening to me after I started praying 5 times a day and after few months (initial start), it doesn't feel appealing to me at all now and this is because of my soul I think, because with praying you are giving food to your soul and when your soul is becoming strong then music will never give you the pleasure and I am now using my wireless headphones (which was for music ) to list khutbas and bayan's. so this is my experience regarding listening to music. and sir M.ALI is right music will not give you the pleasure if you are going to pray 5 times a day for few months and continue this (feed your soul with namaz) this is my testimonial and experience.
Bhai You Just Explained Story Of My Life used to love music too when i was not praying but Something sad happed in my life and thxs to allah pak for giving me that sad Incident after that my life changed started praying 05 times and then everything changed now music is like lava to my ears and thxs to allah pak for this beautifull change in my life

Feeling so happy and sad at the same time .. Our Prophet PBUH suffered so much for us but what are we doing today?
I was unable to sleep without music, I listened it for hours daily but now I pray regularly and listen Quran with Tafseer on daily basis, now if I listen music it feels like crap and even the songs that I used to love, I assume what was I listening. It doesn't make any sense. And music; it's like bounding your goals and vision to a particular person or one emotion. I hate this thing now as Quran has expanded my vision. All might to Allah!

Ali bhai aap ka bahut bahut shukriyah aap ne ithni mehnath ki ilm hasil karne main aur wohi ilm aap hum tak pauhanchathe hain hamari deen, duniyah aur akhirath ki bhethri ke liye. Aap ke liye dil se dua nikalthi hai. Allah swt aap ko iss ka azhar o sawab de aur aap ko jannath main aala mukqam se nawaze. Iss duniya main aap ko kameyaabi aur achi sehath aur khush nama zindagi atha kare aur aap ki ghar walon ko bhi khush rakhe ameen summa ameen!

Jub insaan Allah say choti c dua karta hai k mjhy seedha rasta dikha to Allah usko in fitnay say door karny mai madad karty hain. Neyat achi rkhni chahiyai Allah khud hi dil badal daity hain.
If you hv good bonding with Allah n Believe on the rewards hereafter then it ll not be hard for you to overcome music addiction. In my case(i like to listen music especially during my hostel life alot like many others).but when i started reading n understanding quran through tafaseer n this really helped me in bonding with Allah. Now whenever i listen OR start singing something it automatically make me feel oh i am doing wrong n its only waste of energy n time n what if i die doing this how ll i face day of judgement. So why not to utilize this time in some Zikar of Allah SW i just start doing astaghfar or reciting duaas darood shareef... so i ll advice you all to start understanding quran first n then see the changes in you n your life.

Another answer about satisfaction> why we listen to music????????
because we need pleasure and satisfaction, but with music, you will get it temporarily like when you take some drugs, music also works like that (temporary), but satisfaction to the heart which is permanent is only from ebada's (prayer), and what prayers do it just feed your soul and soul is a part of the human which is from heaven, so it will only satisfy from prayers, if we Muslim continue to pray 5 times a day then I think you will never listen to music and the good alternative to music is to listen Quran with on a good voice, there are a lot of sweet narraters which will give you satisfaction by listening through his voice.

Leaving music is not so easy. I listened music for almost 3 years. When I went for Umra in 2002 I left music automatically . Now I live the sounding music of Quran ...... Al Rehman - Allamal Quran. Waduhaa walaile Iza Sajaa.... and so many like sounding Surahs in Quran gives you much more satisfaction than music. Plz try it in the voice of Shiekh Mahir Al Moeqly , Rashid Almishari , Alkurdi etc

i learn a lot from music like qalam e iqbal, tahira sayeds pahari songs teach me culture n language n same from some punjabi songs. Michael Jackson music stresses me. but its limited how much i listen music

I am very inspired by this discussion.
One of the best questions Abdullah asked is why is youth getting astray by materialism.
You answered it very well.
One thing I would add is that people(parents, teachers, elders etc) that are around the children (esp age 10 to 18) should inculcate good habits in children.
They should encourage children to read good books including religion. Children should read the Holy Quran with translation. People should provide means to educate children. If they find true relationship with Allah Almighty, INSHALLAH they will find right track and stay away from temporary worldy desires.
Mohammad Bhai, I want to ask you one question. I was asked this by my friends.
Question: What is the authenticity of Hadith (including all Hadith books including Bukhari, Daud etc).
We know that Quran is the perfect book. It has never been edited. The Creater Himself challanged that Quran can not be reproduced.
But my friends asked me that how can we believe that Hadith are authentic and how they have not be edited.
Kindly make a video about authenticity of Hadith. Also tell us about number of Hadith books available and how authentic they are and what is the proof of oroginality.
I would be very thankful.

I was able to overcame my music addiction because it started intervening in my salah like i could literally heard music in the background in my mind while being in salah.
That was the turning point for me.
So Yes i can tell from experience that Namaz and Music cant get along.

Music is different from other sins bcoz its a path of shaitan to make people go to first sin ever happened zina. Allah says in quran don't follow the footsteps of shaitan. Shaitan introduced music in this world first to allow a musical folk ancient culture which eventually led to men and women together listening and dancing to the tunes. Then it leads to zina.

I have been listening to music for the last 17 years, i have never committed a sin like zina. Please, stop blaming music. If you are listening to bollywood filth, item songs, rap or rnb songs, than definitely you will end up doing such a major sin.

If you listen to them than it is obvious that you will walk on a path which will lead you to zina eventually. There are other type of music, which unfortunately most people do not have the ability to understand that music genre because they do not satisfy their lust. The music i listened to actually saved me from the sin you are talking about. I am not advocating in favor of music, if you want to leave for the sake of Allah than im with you but please bro, don't put blame on music entirely. There are music which saved people from committing suicide because the lyrics were full of positive meaning.

I requested to uh dear sir make lecture on hazartey hussain because youth needs his education he secrificed evrything in the field of Karbala...I mention I am not frm shia community bt still I love them even every muslim should respect and get access towards their education...
I can't say in a words untill I recognise the sacrifice of hussain seriously I am trying on the path of imaan...untill muslim doesn't aware about hussain they will be insulted at all.....at every stage of life....

Many a time we use song to learn language and it's easy for instance to learn Arabic and German what If I use a song and listen it as an assignment.
I know music is more related to bad image and you are totally right when we are purely in touch with our spirit during our prayers is feel bad to listen song
