As Doctor Strange fan, my recommendation would be the classic Steve Ditko Doctor Strange run, in Strange Tales 110 to 146. While his amazing Spider man run may be his most recognizable work, at think its his doctor strange that shows why Ditko was one the most important artists in Marvel. The stories were epic and the art was surreal and this run establish who Strange is and many of his supporting cast and villains, incluind the Ancient One, Clea, Mordu and Dormammu. The highlights are Strange first meeting with Dormammu and the Eternity arc, which not only conclude many plot points but showed that what makes Doctor Strange worthy of being the sorcerer supreme is not the fact he is the most powerful sorcerer, its the creative ways he uses his magic.
I’ve heard the writing and dialogue can be a bit heavy at times. What are your thoughts on this? Is it something that you can just accept and appreciate despite it? I was thinking of getting the omnibus.
@@Indigo-33 I read those comics and I really enjoyed. Steve Ditko's run on Strange must be one the most underrated runs of Marvel silver age compare to more popular ones like Amazing Spider man and the Fantastic Four.
@@alexandrefrauches132 where can I find the Ditko Omni at a good price?
Would you consider Lee/Ditko Strange to be peak literature or really well written and holds up?
I bought Ditkos omnibus and it got me hooked!
You forgot to mention Steve Engelhardt and Jim Starlin.
If I could make one recommendation I HIGHLY recommend Dr Strange and Doctor Doom Triumph and Torment also written by Stern and art by Mike Mignola. Awesome story that really does Strange and Doom justice and is my favorite comic book.
That’s a great book, with some beautiful artwork!
@Neil what makes it your favorite comic book?
@@vincentimbesi3947 where can I find it for a good price?
@@Seasonal-Shadow_4674 Unfortunately it seems to be out of print right now. Hopefully the Epic collection that contains it will be reprinted soon.
As a diehard Dr Strange fan I appreciate this video and it has my seal of approval.
What are you're top 3 ? I would like to get into Dr. Strange, thanks in advance!
Going from Aaron to Cates to waid is just an epic read through. And I would also recommend the 3 omnibus of Dr strange that have come out so far!
@Subham where can I find the dr strange omnibuses at good prices?
I'm 54 and I agree about the "classic" issues😆
Woof woof! Never read Dr Strange in my life, so I’m about to bookmark this one.
I agree with the current series. It is good and has filled in some blanks as well.
My favorites, a fan since 1974, are the issues in the original series where he faced the inbetweener (cannot remember number) 55-62 (Clea break up through Dracula), 77-81 (Urthona), Strange Tales 1-19 (Kaluu and God Strange) and finally What If 40.
I was introduced to strange from MCU so I'm now a fan but I'd read any strange comic I could find
The two stories that I need to read more on Doctor Strange are Triumph and Torment, and the Oath because they dive deep into Strange's role as Sorcerer Supreme. Jason Aaron's run on Doctor Strange is another reading recommendation for me to get started.
Other than that, great video Mark!!!
I did the searches for you all: Marvel masterworks 7 9 and 10 have most of sterns stories
Based off the diffrent websites and this video during my big comic wishlist making these are what I think collect the best dr strange stories
I would get
Omnibus vol 1 for the origin/introduction from strange tales
Then there’s a book called dr strange vs Dracula which collects his battle with Dracula,
Then I’d get masterworks 7-10 to get that Roger Stern experience,
Dr strange 1988 Doctor strange sorcerer supreme vol 1 omnibus (this will give you some dormaumu action)
And end it with the Aaron/Bachalo omnibus
The only dr strange I have read was some Aaron issues and I loved them
I have been wanting to read she-hulk for a long time but I don’t know where to start can you please make a video on that when you got time. Also great video, I never really wanted to read doctor strange comic but I might read 1 or 2 that sound really interesting.
Great stuff. Very helpful and just in time for the film which I'm quite eager to see. Always thought Dr strange is a interesting, Underrated even character, always enjoy his team ups in ASM. Even has a super cool first name to boot, not the only reason I think highly of him though( well it helps)😋😉
Will share the vid as usual.
Hopefully you enjoy the new movie mate! I'm in the same boat, so hopefully this video has helped shine some light on some series :) He does have a great first name haha :P I wouldn't like him as much if he were called Marcus! Thanks for the support mate! WOOF WOOF!
I Neverrrr read any Doctor Strange as a kid and then curiously read Steve Ditkos omnibus and was hooked! Next thing i know im loving the Jason Aaron book!
You need to find the Steve Engelhardt and Jim Starlin issue or omni book
I love the oath! One of my favourites, plus that fist fight in the rain was badass.
My first Dr Strange I read was The Oath by Brian K Vaughn.
Followed by the runs of Jason Aaron, Dony Cates, Mark Waid, and current Jed Mckay run.
I would also recommend the original series the first half of the first Omni is a bit slow but after that it picks up After that and the artwork is just amazing
Ok but maddogg be looking really good 🙈
Love these types of videos of yours. Keep up the great work
Same
Thanks mate! I love making these, and it took a while, but I think I'm over that mental hurdle of trying to suggest what will make everyone else happy, and recommending the ones I think would work best :) I just wanted make the series I wish I'd had getting into comics haha, but let me know if there's any characters/teams you want to see me cover! WOOF WOOF!
Me three.
@@MaddoggComics Understood. I would prefer for you to discuss on comics you enjoyed as suppose to saying/recommending what others would like.
Just my opinion. Keep it up.
They should make an Omni or two from the Season One/Origins books.
Stan Lee/Steve Dikto's run and Jason Aaron's run.
No love for Ditko?
If no love for ditko. Try reading Steve Engelhardt or Jim Starlin's work
I love Strange but I’ve actually not read any of his own titles the Aaron and Cates were on my radar but that strange mini series seems intriguing
Oath is easy to get n cheap. eBay it's everywhere
A couple questions:
1) Have you read Dr Strange Flight of Bones? What did you think of it?
2) What are the best comics that involve Dormmamu? I think he’s one of the more underrated villain and for Dr Strange’s number 1 villain, I haven’t seen him in alot
🤔...What was that dead dog talking about...❓️
Great video mate
Hey, would you recommend Doctor Strange Season One?
Should I read only the vol 1 of doctor strange by Jason aaron..or should I read every vol... according to u?
Woof woof!
I wish marvel animated their comics, it would gain so much more fans
these beWks
dctor strange BEWK
Dr strange Oath was an amazing read 🔥 🔥 🔥.
