- Hi friends! In this video we are going to be automating our lives with Python, specifically in the form of building a very simple python project to create a virtual pet. This is a great project if you are new to python or just want to try building something but don't have any previous experience. It is simple and fun whether you are an experience developer or just starting out the purpose of it is to entertain you while doing a bit of coding. I hope you enjoy it!

// My Story
I am currently a software developer who once modeled and thought I wanted to pursue a career in the fashion industry. While I was modeling in Hong Kong, I eventually felt the desire to further my education. I decided to depart the modeling world and move back to Canada, knowing that could be the end of my modeling opportunities. I attended Ryerson University for GCM (Graphic Communications Management), as I thought I might still work in the fashion industry in another capacity. It was in my last year of university, I was introduced to a very basic coding course. I instantly fell in love. From there I knew I wanted to pursue software development but didn't have a clue where to start. I didn't want to go back to university as I just completed a four-year degree. I decided to enroll in a 10-week intensive coding Bootcamp. From there I started working at a small startup learning and growing my technical and soft skills. I then transitioned to a larger company where I am a software developer and technical consultant today.

The pet hunger bug is such a good example of something very simple but you just don't spot it, probably because you've been staring at the screen for a long time. I've been confused for an hour, debugging many components, just to find out that I had accidentally put a wrong variable on some line or that some security rules expired in testing mode while I was coding. So frustrating but also funny 😆
(ps, it would probably be good to add 'beginner friendly' or something to the title so people who are learning python could find these type of videos more easily!)

Take into account what type of stuff you're interested in developing too, some languages are better for certain tasks than others.

Javascript/typescript, html, css. There are also frameworks (like React and Vue) that could help you so you don't have to start everything from scratch.

No books needed. You just have to code and do some trial and error. The internet is full of free courses and documentation! Start with the basics and then start building projects. =)
