Corporate greed. All about making a profit but I have a hard time believing $600k.

The MAiD program is priority one in the Canadian health care system for situations like this.

$1650/day What are the profit margins on that drug!?
I get that a pharmaceutical company would need to make up for their R&D time, materials, & manufacturing costs but this seems like extortion.
I wouldn’t want the family, or the taxpayers to enable pharma by paying such a high price without an audit of their business practices.

Without a profit motivation these types of medications likely wouldn't exist and the rarity of the condition is likely reflected in the price.

@@Eyeballman24'profit motive' in this situation is a chicken and egg fallacy.
It's just as likely to say the profit would not exist without customers until we actually check on the development in this particular situation.

@@Eyeballman24 If the drug ends up sitting on the shelf it may as well not exist. In other manufacturing sectors they are called 'lost leaders'.

@@Eyeballman24I am pretty sure this drug has generic versions. They may not be able to import to canada legally because of bans by pharmacy companies for profit. But they can physically travel somewhere where it's available and buy and bring it back.
