As an American, when I learned that the powers that be prohibited us from communicating with drums that’s when the sound of those drums always sound sweet to me!

💚💛❤️ Thank you very much! Rastafar-eye is so much more than Reggae: It’s a spiritual and truly social way of Life towards not only our fellow brothers and sisters of human mankind but basically all of creation like animals, plants, minerals and most important Mother Earth 🌍...Reggae music helps spreading the message of Rasta to the most remote areas...because everyone and everyone can relate to the frequency of Reggae music...no books or houses are really needed! We ALL carry the essential divine message within us...Religion only separates as it has been corrupted by us humans, Spirituality brings together...one Love 💚💛❤️

Sad to see so few views so little comments. Great work brother. I myself will be coming to Jamaica in a year or two to do some research on Rasta and its relationship with Christianity. I will surely pay you a visit. I will look for your work on Amazon.

It is good, at this stage of its development, that the Rastafarian Movement (RASTAFARI) comprises many different houses (mansions), beliefs, and schools of thought. Compared to other mass movements, Rastafari is still in the stage of infancy. Christianity is approximately 2000 years old. Judaism is about 5000 years old. Hinduism and Buddhism have been around for just as long. RASTAFARI is just about a century old and it would take some time for a sound Rastafarian philosophy to develop. It is very encouraging to witness the deep conviction and devotion of the Brethrens and Sistrens who profess to be adherents of Bobo Shanti, Twelve Tribes, Nyabinghi, and other offshoots of the Movement. There might even be many good things to say about the Brethrens and Sistrens who are inclined to think that it is enough for RASTAFARI to be just a Black version of Christianity. There might also be great justification for the great esteem with which many Rastafarians hold for the Makonnen dynasty. Even so, it must be acknowledged that it would take some time for RASTAFARI to cast asunder the apron strings of its Christian and Judaic predecessors and establish its authentic identity. Still, RASTAFARI must concern itself with more than resurrecting the princely lineage of the Makonnen dynasty or being just a black version of Christianity. Ideally speaking, RASTAFARI is a movement that is predicated on the life and teaching of His Imperial Majesty (HIM) Emperor Haile Selassie I within the broader context of the philosophy of the Rt. Hon. Marcus Mosiah Garvey and other Thinkers of African ancestry. In short, RASTAFARI SHOULD BE MOSTLY ABOUT THE MESSAGE and less about the messengers. HIM espoused the creation of a NEW WORLD ORDER based on the principle of UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD. Also, the EQUALITY OF THE AFRICAN (BLACK) RACE which could be attained only through the UNIFICATION OF the AFRICAN PEOPLE WHEREVER WE MAY BE." Also, THE RULE OF LAW based on the "negative affirmation" of the GOLDEN RULE rather than "the Rule of Law" which is designed to always serve the interests of the law makers, Etc., Etc. And Rastafarians should always be on guard for charlatans who could possibly derail the Movement. For HIM has always admonished Black people to strive toward ENLIGHTENMENT rather than just being "educated".

It is an indisputable fact that RASTAFARI (the Rastafarian Movement) has grown to be the social force that it is (and indeed a force to be reckoned with) because of the lasting impact of His Imperial Majesty (HIM) Emperor Haile Selassie I on Rastafarian adherents around the world, and on the world in general. Equally so, it is irrefutably the case that RASTAFARI might never have come into being without the prophetic messaging of the Rt. Hon. Marcus Mosiah Garvey. For all intents and purposes, therefore, RASTAFARI must be construed as the DIALECTICAL outcome of the ideas of Prophet Marcus and the broader Pan-Africanist outlook of HIM. In other words, RASTAFARI is the SYNTHESIS of the THESIS of Garvey's Black Nationalism and the ANTITHESIS of HIM's UNIVERSALISM. Confronting the apparent backwardness of the AFRICAN RACE during a period in which institutional racism was the order of the day, Garvey was right in insisting that it was incumbent upon Black people to "pull themselves up by their own bootstrap." Garvey's approach to uplifting the African People might have seemed like a case of reversed racism but that kind of tough love was indeed appropriate because "it takes steel to cut steel" and the best cure for any ailment is often an antidote made from the same venom by which the ailment was caused. On the other hand, HIM had lived long enough to realize that there will never be any real hope for the human race "UNTIL THE PHILOSOPHY WHICH HOLDS ONE RACE SUPERIOR AND ANOTHER INFERIOR IS FINALLY AND PERMANENTLY DISCREDITED AND ABANDONED." Hence, RASTAFARI is in essence, a Movement for all races through which UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD could be achieved. (“RED, BROWN, YELLOW, BLACK, and WHITE, WE’RE ALL PRECIOUS IN JAH SIGHT, JAH JAH LOVES ALL THE CHILDREN OF HIS WORLD”. HIM also envisioned a world in which the so-called 'rule of law' is replaced by the RULE OF INTERNATIONAL MORALITY. For while the "rule of law" primarily serves the narrow interests of the lawmakers, the RULE OF INTERNATIONAL MORALITY is premised on the NEGATIVE AFFIRMATION of the GOLDEN RULE which admonishes: "DO NOT DO UNTO OTHERS WHAT YOU WOULD NOT LIKE TO HAVE DONE TO YOU. It is only by adopting such an ENLIGHTENED ethical framework that "the basic human rights [would be] equally guaranteed to all without regard to race." Within less than a century, RASTAFARI has evolved from a marginalized and ostracized group of dispossessed ghetto dwellers in the small Caribbean island of Jamaica under the leadership of Leonard Howell to a worldwide movement with over 30 million followers - and growing. Despite the meteoric growth of the Movement, however, no one should lose sight of the fact that RASTAFARI must still navigate some very rough waters ahead. Many well-meaning proselytes like Dr. Vernon Carrington (Prophet Gad), Jacob (Killer) Miller of “CHAPTER A DAY” renown, Bob Marley, and countless others (although often mistaken) have played their part in helping to propagate the Rastafarian philosophy from the early days in which so-called experts from the University of the West Indies (UWI) like Rex Nettleford and other so-called experts in academia saw RASTAFARI as a mere cult with an expected limited life span. On the contrary, RASTAFARI has stood the test of time and many issues, like the significance of marijuana, the primacy of Biblical teaching, the misguided claim of the "divinity or deity" of HIM, the actual typology or ontological nature of the movement, whether RASTAFARI is a religion or a "LIVITY", etc., etc. are still to be debated and settled. Still, compared to most of the larger social institutions like Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Marxism/Leninism, and others that have been in existence for millenniums, and which have all failed so far to bring about peace on Earth, RASTAFARI which has been around for a mere 100 years could rightly be regarded as still being at the stage of infancy. Thus, there is still quite some time remaining for the Movement to fully evolve and properly assert itself. And so, unless Rastafarians who are truly committed to HIM's admonishment to strive toward ENLIGHTENMENT allow charlatans and other similar types to misappropriate and ultimately derail the Movement, there is still reason to hope that MANKIND/WOMANKIND might one day find ourselves living in the kind of world envisaged by RASTAFARI.

Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned and until there's no longer first or second class citizen of any nation and until the color of a man's skin is no more significance of his eyes and until these basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regards to race the dream of lasting peace world citizenship and the rule of international morality will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be persued but never attained WHAT PART OF THIS IS HARD TO COMPREHEND please cease and decist from contiminate RASTAFARI from these inhmane behaviors Luciano explained absolutely clearly JAH-JAH SENT I AS A MESSENGER TO TEACH THE YOUTHS ABOUT ROOTS AND CULTURE AND TO THE MASSIVE TO REMEMBER JAH and this fully explains the rastaman refrain from mixing the ras in your devil philosophy and bless up the l self
