  • Huge shoutout to @SICCE , this video was NOT sponsered, but they did send me two of these filters to try out for free (sorry I can't pronounce your name, pronunciation was never my strong suit). Also can someone comment below how you're supposed to say it lol.
    Anyways, I will be providing some updates how these filters run in the longterm, but from the time when I recorded this video until posting it now, its performing very well.

    Glad your channel exists. I don't know why there aren't more quality goldfish channels. And few there are, the information is awful and spread myths and false information, channels like Palmer Aquatics are infuriating. Keep up the good work, glad there is a channel that provides the right information for those interested in keeping goldfish!

    Got this exact filter today for my 55G goldfish tank because of this video... watching this video again while setting it up made the experience a dream... going to go with your recommendations and add extra filtration material tomorrow... but already my tank is noticeably cleaner! This canister filter is the way to go for Goldfish. I'm also now super into ranchus because of Bubba! ❤🐟

    What a clean tank! I wish mine looked that clean! every time I clean my tank and give them new water I run the risk of losing one of them . I have one huge goldfish and a little fella that looks like a shark and three flounder looking fish ,all different colors, then a parrot fish . I almost lost Bubbles my goldfish the last time I cleaned my tank .
    my filter system sucks. I need to get away from the crap they sell at the pet store.

    Hi Luke! Thanks for posting this stuff. It's been a couple of years, do you still recommend the matrix filter media? Having now raised goldfish from eggs, I've taken to just using various grades of sponge media and floss in my canister filters. The water seems quite stable, the fish are in good health, and it's all crazy cheap. Thoughts?

    Do you have any follow up planned on the Sicce? I’ve used the Sun-sun and an EHEIM, and I have debated the Sicce (tbh after seeing your short video I was really interested) and a Fluval x06 or x07, which seems like everyone’s ‘gold standard.’ I know on your site you highly recommend the Marineland HOB and use some of those. I am most concerned about ease of cleaning, self-priming features, noise, and quality of filtration with my canisters.

  • @zymphad7377
    @zymphad7377 Před 2 lety +1

    If you watch Pondguru, he does say something that makes a lot of sense. Have all mechanical filtration done first and that includes fine filter. Cause by having fine filter last, it keeps all the fine stuff below it, where your biomedia is. Should do all the mechanical filtration before it gets to your biomedia. It's the way it's recommended and setup by Fluval as well.

  • @hakman239
    @hakman239 Před 2 lety

    Your filter is set up wrong mate the fine pad in the top tray will concentrate all the fine dirt in your bio media causing it to clog prematurely bottom tray is ok although pond foam would be better for that course them medium then filter floss obviously with the bumps facing the water flow also the bacteria will only grow to the bio load of the tank otherwise remove the floss from the top and add more matrix I use bi home ultimate it’s a lot more pours then matrix and supports anaerobic bacteria

    • @lukesgoldies
      @lukesgoldies  Před 2 lety +2

      You are mistaken, the water comes through the bottom of the tray… this means it goes through the big sponge of the bottom first, then the medium sponge, then the media, then the floss at the best end. The water is pumping around the container then goes up through the bottom of it

    • @hakman239
      @hakman239 Před 2 lety

      @@lukesgoldies the floss right at the top is a mistake that most people make floss should be after the sponges you want the water to be as clean as it can before it hits the bio media having the floss last causes the fine dirt to be concentrated in your bio media causing it to get clogged faster watch the pond guru he explains it very well
