At last! After waiting 8 months we are finally allowed to collect Maui our baby green wing macaw parrot. His hatch date was May 17th 2021, he is now 15 weeks old (almost 16). Join us as we share our excitment and learn the first 'step' in training our baby green winged macaw parrot.

Thank you. We're so pleased with how well he handled the journey home and has already settled in. He's getting used to his new cage but is already moving around it much better. He loves a cuddle!

@@MacawTakeover that's why you travelled so far, the breeder obviously knows what he is doing. We have a African Grey, she's only a year and also cuddly. Parrots are very special.

@@karinahall4915 yes we did a lot of research on finding our breeder, which has paid off. We love African Greys! We have two in our family, Murdock and Joey. You will see them on the channel from time to time.

Was he fully weaned when you brought him home? We just bought a baby scarlet who’s still on one hand feeding a day, but would love to add a baby greenwing someday

Hi. Yes he was fully weaned. Our breeder doesn’t let them go until they are. However he did say that he might regress slightly when we take him home due to the change in environment. He did do this but it only lasted a few days. He eats really well now and has settled in and started responding well to training.

i feel u still need a much larger cage like an indoor aviary

Hi. The recommendation for Macaws is to get the largest cage you can, which we did. On too of that we make sure Maui has plenty of time out of his cage. He also has an outdoor aviary and will be free flown. Trust me he has plenty of space and much more than most.
