- MEDICAL ANIMATION TRANSCRIPT: A pressure injury or ulcer is a wound caused by constant pressure on your skin. It may also be called a pressure sore, pressure ulcer, bed sore, or decubitus ulcer. Pressure injuries occur most frequently in areas where your bones are close to the skin, including your heels, ankles, hips, tailbone, or elbows. In order to understand how pressure injuries happen, it's important to know about the layers of the skin. Your skin is made up of three main layers. The top layer, called the epidermis, is a thin layer that protects your body from the environment. The thicker middle layer is called the dermis. Its main functions are to supply the epidermis with nutrients, help regulate your body temperature, and provide strength and elasticity to your skin. The innermost layer is called the hypodermis or subcutaneous layer. This layer stores fat, which cushions the muscles and bones beneath it. In a pressure injury, constant pressure on the skin over a long period of time can compress the blood vessels that supply the layers with the oxygen and nutrients they need to survive. If there's not enough blood flow, your skin tissue begins to die, and a pressure injury forms. If you have a pressure injury, your healthcare provider will classify it based on what can be known about the depth of tissue damage. This is called staging. In a Stage I pressure injury, the skin is intact, red, and inflamed. The redness is non-blanchable. This means it doesn't become pale if you press on it. A Stage II pressure injury appears as a blister or an open sore. There's partial thickness loss of the epidermis and dermis. The area surrounding the sore may be red and irritated. A Stage III pressure injury is a crater-like full-thickness loss of skin. It extends down to the fat tissue of the hypodermis. Stage IV is the most severe. A Stage IV pressure injury is a full-thickness loss of tissue. It extends through all three layers of skin and into the underlying muscle or bone. An unstageable pressure injury is a full-thickness loss of tissue. It's called unstageable because the injury is covered by dead tissue, making it hard to tell how deep it is. And a suspected deep tissue injury appears as a maroon or purple area of the skin. It may contain a blister filled with blood. It looks like this because of damaged soft tissue underneath your skin. To prevent infection in your pressure injury, your doctor will clean your wound using water and a mild soap or saline solution. If your wound is severe, your doctor will debride or surgically remove the dead tissue from the pressure injury. To protect your wound and keep it from drying out while it heals, your doctor may cover it with a specialized bandage. To find out more about pressure injuries, talk to your healthcare provider.

My grandmother had the unstageable injury at her hip bone area we didnt see it early so the wound became deep covered by dead tissues I now understand how it happened

People who are too emotional like you 2 will most likely fail and drop out of med school like many have done and will do, which is fine since most people aren't made to be doctors. It's just reality, but you should still give it a try I suppose since no one knows how callous they can become until they try it
@@mihraban111ah man, sorry if I sound insensitive but usually people who experience emotions like this either quit med school, or embarrass themselves. I remeber a fellow premed passing out while we were observing a surgery. The surgeon was quite annoyed. If you really want it you HAVE to supress those emotions. Good luck.

You won't get this unless you often remain in certain a position for a very long time. Its why it usually occurs in elderly bed ridden patients

Private Home care aid here I’m dealing with a stage stage 3 right now
i had a small suspected deep tissue injury two days ago then, just popped all the blood out and its healing fine
everyone is different. I would never recommend "popping" a suspected deep tissue injury. Most of the time it would make it worse and could push infection to the deeper layers of the skin and muscle and may even enter the blood stream. Not a good idea. Most people who get pressure injuries are bedridden or in one position for a long time. This is why it is so important to turn and position your patients. In the elderly, their skin is thinner as well so can break down faster. Some can't effectively communicate to tell you if something isn't comfortable either so it is up to us as healthcare providers to do head to toe checks on our patients every shift.

I was confined last January and we share a room in just one night because I'm going to discharge next day.
Her mother said she was paralyzed and she can barely move that's why she got these on her foot at leg and at the back of her butt too.

i have shifted from IT to Heath Care
So. I damaged my foot and leg and they said stay off! Guess what, one week is what it took to get two sores on my rear close to my potty area . It's been two weeks so far of constant flipping and monitoring these pain in my ass literally sores. They are very very painful.
Can compress air cause this type of injury?
No. This occurs when you remain in a position cauing a pressure point for a very long time. Its usually occurs in bed ridden elderly patients. Unless you are bed ridden and cannot move very much then you are fine

No mention of necrosis or infection, or actual source of the injury & trauma, if persistent or avoidable, so a relief that recovery & positive prognosis seems possible with appropriate action determine & alleviate malevolent harmful circumstances & causative factors with effective treatment & support. I had this and ir hurts like he.l they gave me a so called second skin dressing...what a relieve...i was in bed for 40 days because of coma corona
