This is a great film you don't hear about often. Like many of this era, it was way ahead of its time and makes you shudder at where the world is now. I never forgot this particular scene with Donald Sutherland, who would have been in his 30s at this time. RIP Mr. Sutherland.

This is absolute brilliance from Sutherland. He was given a magnificent piece of writing and managed to do it justice. So often the writing gets overlooked and all the fame or blame is bestowed on the actor(s) and/director(s). This film manages turn the label of a piece of work being "dated" into a good thing. It holds up to the test of time while serving as a time capsule. Satirizing the ideologies of the era. I agree with the previous comment suggesting Sutherland is deserving of an oscar for

This film is fireworks. One brilliant scene after another. It helps that the actors are up to it but really it's the writing that does it.

one of the wackiest films ever made. in a class by itself. Alan Arkin is brilliant at directing himself, as well as others .I saw it as a first run, in a theater .it's hilarious and very depressing at the same time. Sutherland looks the same as he did in Kelly's heroes .all the actors are great, especially Vincent Gardenia. brilliant crazy movie. I think the Cohen bros .had to have seen this at some point.

I haven't seen Gould's Marlowe in many years, but I don't recall being very impressed. Probably time for a second viewing if it ever appears on cable again.
Considering how many channels are available now, it's a real shame that they all keep showing the same old crap again & again. And if an old classic gets re-done, for years you just see the new version, not the great original. "Rollerball" comes to mind, but there are plenty of examples where the updated version truly sucks the big one.
