This is a bit more angry and chaotic than Ren usually gets but I believe that if people can get their feelings out over music, it can be cathartic and much healthier than other expressions of anger. This one is in the same vein as Sick Boy, which is also a bit on the angry side. However, he does have some really upbeat rap songs - Losing It / Genesis / What You Want (Beastie boys tribute) are great examples of that. The Hunger is also a really fast bragadocious style rap that just goes hard.

I'm only hypothesizing, but if you look into the timeline of Ren's recent solo output, they go through the full range of emotions centred on the situations he finds himself in. The very earliest releases before his dramatic decline in health were often beautiful, folky ballads with poetic wit and genuinely fun raps, accoustic style. His later mental/physical fears and deep grief at losing friends produced the brusing and difficult and deeply introspective and personal tracks like "Insomnia", "How to be Me", "Crutch", "Hold On" etc. As he learned to adapt and there was progress on his well-being, you heard his sound grow more muscular and confident. You will not hear more tightly crafted pop/hip-hop/soul/rap tracks than "The Hunger", "Sick boi", "Losing It", "Money Game" and "Genesis". We haven't even dipped into his "Bardcore" stuff, but as a (once) performer myself, you can't produce music like "Jenny and Screech" live without the self-confidence Ren has found. Now we can see that his current tracks are dark, angry and full of built up frustrated energy. It sounds like they were written well before "Hi Ren" drew in so much attention. To me, they feel like the last toss of the dice to an empty void. Little did he (and us) know he would blow up so spectacularly!

I did! I had no idea he had a Twitch! How sweet he is. Chronic illness really can rob you of a lot of different things. It's hard not to feel anger/frustration from it. Especially when the drs/healthcare system have hurt you on top of it. I definitely can relate and don't blame him for that one bit ❤ I have seen in in my husband when dealing with my drs. And I know he would never hurt anyone either, but it still scares me LOL.

Ren is saying that his art will go to places other people won't. The line kill a pacifist is refering to Jenny and Violet in The Tale of Jenny and Screech. He is as masochists because he explored the characters of Screech and Stevie. He is trying to use the perspective of his illness that drove him to psychosis to expose the real sicknesses in society. Greed and disunity. While showing off that he is a world class rapper (and he really is) but he says he hasn't found the answers but he is showing the way.

This was a bit in the same vein as his Money Game and Money Game 2 in terms of raging against the establishment/corporate greed political douchebaggery etc.
That was tough for you, I could see. That is the toughest Ren track I have ever heard and, tbh, it made me uncomfortable too at times (I struggle with violent imagery). He warned us he was going in a different direction and he did. Most of it was just an Alpha-Male boast fest (the reason I normally hate rap). But I loved the Prodigy-like beat under the track. The last 25 seconds were gold to me : "I, want to spread these tattered wings, hold them high" to the end. You are one of my favourite reactors so chin up and let's see the next one
It was a little tough but I think anyone who has been subjected to any type of abuse can attest to struggling with things like this. We tend to be the pacifists - afraid to rock the boat because it could potentially lead to abuse (even when we trust the people - it’s a defense mechanism learned over time and it’s a hard habit to break). None of his treatments make sense there's no plan the'yre just trying stuff on him, even now in Canada there's no long term plan & goal (he said it in a video) it's all pretty much experimental. He has to study what he has seen done to him he is the pupil* (student) of his eyes travel through the light in the darkness he's been through. The cornea** (The transparent part of the eye that covers the iris and the pupil and allows light to enter the inside.)

Chronic illness really can rob you of a lot of different things. It's hard not to feel anger/frustration from it. Especially when the drs/healthcare system have hurt you on top of it. I definitely can relate and don't blame him for that one bit ❤ I have seen in in my husband when dealing with my drs. And I know he would never hurt anyone either, but it still scares me LOL.

Ren is saying that his art will go to places other people won't. The line kill a pacifist is refering to Jenny and Violet in The Tale of Jenny and Screech. He is as masochists because he explored the characters of Screech and Stevie. He is trying to use the perspective of his illness that drove him to psychosis to expose the real sicknesses in society. Greed and disunity. While showing off that he is a world class rapper (and he really is) but he says he hasn't found the answers but he is showing the way.
I really need to check those videos out (there's three if I recall correctly). I think those will be after the next reaction which will be Sick Boi. And you're right. Greed, disunity, and I personally think just being generally unkind and judgmental.

That was tough for you, I could see. That is the toughest Ren track I have ever heard and, tbh, it made me uncomfortable too at times (I struggle with violent imagery). He warned us he was going in a different direction and he did. Most of it was just an Alpha-Male boast fest (the reason I normally hate rap). But I loved the Prodigy-like beat under the track. The last 25 seconds were gold to me : "I, want to spread these tattered wings, hold them high" to the end. You are one of my favourite reactors so chin up and let's see the next one
It was a little tough but I think anyone who has been subjected to any type of abuse can attest to struggling with things like this. We tend to be the pacifists - afraid to rock the boat because it could potentially lead to abuse (even when we trust the people - it’s a defense mechanism learned over time and it’s a hard habit to break). This is FIRE Ren, dunno if you are really into rap (I'm more of a metal-head, but love SOME rap)... his other rap songs are killer too, this is a different flow and a great beat (he made).
