    Something like between 7-11% of people get in via the lottery. The number of 9+1 people is around 12k. The corporate sponsors and ‘elite’ and ‘celebrity’ status people max out at 1500. The rest go to international travel.yes, the international contingency is 55-60% of the race. NYC doesn’t make any money from us, they make it on hotels, dinners out, and cabs.

      That you for the informative response to this video. I hadn’t really thought about the tourism aspect

    It's great to see a running CZcamsr based in NYC. I noticed in your NYRR dashboard you haven't done any Open Runs. I think you should definitely check out your local one to participate in or volunteer at. Volunteering at an Open Run does not give you +1 credit BUT for every 10 times you volunteer, you get a guaranteed complementary entry to any NYRR race you'd like (except NYC Half, Brooklyn Half or NYC Marathon). It might not be worth it for the smaller races, but I've personally used my free races for the more pricers ones, like Dash to the Finish for example. If you didn't already notice, I'm pretty active in the Open Run community, lol. Hope you can check it out soon and maybe even cover it in one of your future videos.

    I didn't do 9+1 for 2023 entry. Wasn't planning on running NYC more than once but after this year, I need the redemption so I'll be doing 9+1 for 2024 entry.

    I ran the NYC Half Marathon this year by doing the charity fundraising. I started watching your videos about this time last year when I started training for the March race, and I have not stopped. For the 2023 Half, I did not get chosen in the lottery, big surprise. However, I did sign up for the virtual, guaranteed entry method. With that, I paid $85 to run on my own this year, but will have "noncomplimentary, guaranteed entry in 2024. I don't live in the NYC area, but I do get to the Ridgefield CT area several times a year. The past two years I have run the Pamby Ridgefield Half Marathon and I plan to keep doing that one. If you are looking for a great small-town Half in mid-October it's well operated, with a beautiful course with a lot of friendly people.

      It might be a fun one to try between Berlin and NYC, just as motivation to keep the miles up a bit!

    why do they make signups so difficult lmao

    • @ChristianRunsNY
      @ChristianRunsNY  Před rokem +1

      Just because of the number of applicants. There is only about 9% chance anyone is picked, then they have sponsors and charities to reserve spots for, a process for first come first serve time qualifiers, and then this, the NYC 9+1.
      Lots of moving parts for a hugely popular race.

    Hi! Hoping to get in through the virtual entry for this year and then the entry for 24, so nervous and confused on how to do this haha

    • @ChristianRunsNY
      @ChristianRunsNY  Před rokem

      That’s today right!? You have to try to sign up immediately when it opens, it will sell out right away.
      As long as you’re in for the paid virtual, and complete a 26.2 mile plus activity on Strava linked to NYRR and the virtual marathon, you get an invitation for the next year to sign up during the guaranteed entry window.

    Hi, i have a question, I’m interested in the 9+1 program. If for example I complete a race on November or December 2023 will count for the program to run on the marathon on 2025? Or I have to complete all the 9+1 only on 2024 to run the 2025 marathon?
    Thanks I hope you can help.

    • @ChristianRunsNY
      @ChristianRunsNY  Před 9 měsíci

      All in one year. Completing 9 in 2024 will be to run in November 2025.

  • @ABucc
    @ABucc Před rokem

    Does someone notify you when it's time to come back when the race is over, or do you get a certain time limit to be out there volunteering?

    • @ChristianRunsNY
      @ChristianRunsNY  Před rokem +2

      It varies by role but generally someone notifies you. But they treat you like an adult, if you have to use the bathroom you just go for example, they trust you.
      In my case specifically we could just leave as the trailing vehicle came by and gave us the nod. They even offered to take our volunteer vest so we could go straight home. Otherwise you drop that back at the tent. Finish line fluids is a later role to leave than start corrals, you go as your role is complete.

    I completed the 9+1 but have t heard from NYRR yet. Is it too early to reach out? Do/will they reach out? What should one expect after completing the 9+1 program?

    • @ChristianRunsNY

      Cathy is correct, they won't reach out until registration opens.

    Hi, thank you for this video. I have a silly question to clarify my confusion. If I complete 9+1 this year of 2023 I will be qualifying for 2024? Is that right?

    • @ChristianRunsNY
      @ChristianRunsNY  Před rokem +1

      Exactly right, 9 races during the calendar year 2023 and a qualifying volunteer role will allow you to claim your 2024 entry around Feb. 2024.
